We're aiming at making a tradition of selecting one of our awesome fans to come to our yearly convention. As you probably know, we're releasing King Arthur II, Crusader Kings II and War of the Roses next year and they all have something in common. They're all MEDIEVAL! Therefore medieval is the theme for this year’s convention, which will take place in an honest-to-goodness Swedish castle on January 18-19th. The winning fan will get the chance to spend these two days together with the Paradox team, be the first to hear all kinds of hot, unannounced news, enjoy a welcome dinner, the party of the year and much more. We will of course also pay for transport to Stockholm, as well as accommodation*.

To get the chance to be selected as this year’s Paradox Convention fan all you have to do is write an After Action Report-like post about a day in your life, medieval style. Sound crazy? We have faith you guys will come up with something fun. Your imagination is your only limit! The only rule is we want you to post it before October 20th.

So what are you waiting for? Start typing on your story and may the best knight win!

*Other expenditures other than the above stated will not be on funded by Paradox

Sunrise, another day in the glorious life of Christiaan, son and heir of the Countess of Brink.

Apologies, reader, for my mildly bombastic introduction, but I do occassionally get bored of writing the same thing each day. You see, my mother, still embarrassed over my father's fall from grace in the court, is absolutely determined that I should , if not clear his name, then at least be a merit to hers. As such, my day consists of studying, studying, studying, and if I'm lucky some martial training.
My mother has assigned to me a mentor by the name of Corangeli. He says that writing is a skill that must be practiced daily to avoid a loss of style. Me, I'm not so sure about that.. He claims so many things that make no sense. For one, he says he hails from a country called Poland..And yet, whenever I have a chance to look at a map, I can find no such country between the Holy Roman Empire and the various kingdoms of the schismatics. Maybe he actually came from the Kingdom of Prester John, now that would be exciting..

In any case, my day started, as usual, with a short mass, before having a few cups of hot water with herbs. Then, I was lucky enough that the stablemaster asked me to give our horse some exercise, so I got to ride to the toll gate, rather than having to walk. There I, as usual, helped the tollmaster, a friend of Corangeli. We take stock of the ores and other wares coming into the city from Roslagen, and as usual on slow days, I practiced my arithmetic yesterday. I don't know where Corangeli and the tollmaster get their bizarre questions from. As far as I'm concerned, those constructions of theirs can never work. Metal, heating up water just by itself. Preposterous, really.. But well, a task is a task, and the practice doesn't get much worse by the strangeness of the ideas I'm supposedly calculating.

Then, at lunch a short break to enjoy a meal of wheat, eggs, and boar. I think the cook calls it spajeti carbara. I say, he's an interesting fellow this cook, but alas, as a future count, I am to ignore the man as if he's not there. Never understood that really, not everyone can be a count, but why then should I act as if those people aren't there. Corangeli isn't a nobleman either, but woe is me if I ignore him.

The afternoon consisted of more stock taking and arithmetic, until finally, close to sundown, the tollmaster released me from my duties. Martial practice, at last. That turned out to be a bit of a disappointment though, the Swordmaster had apparently deviced some new training. First, we got on our armour, then the swordmaster handed us wooden sticks, and told us to go chase a small ball. We weren't even supposed to hit the other students with those sticks. I ask you, what sort of martial training is that? My mother agreed on that last point, and has promissed she will see if she can get the Captain of the Gars Guard to take a more active role in training.

And then there's dreaming.. My mother's mentioned in passing that the King will be inspecting a nearby castle sometime this winter. Perhaps I'll get to meet him? I'm excited already. But then, Friar Kallocain says there is a a Distinct Dark Doomed presence in that castle. For me, that makes it only more exciting, but it worries my mother. And then there's the Castellan, who decides who is allowed in the presence of the King.. We'll see.

EDIT: so it's been pointed out to me that the instructions in the first post have been edited since I last read it, and so strictly I should not have posted it here. I think I'll leave it as a "bump" so others realise they have a shot at visiting Stockholm, too.
