Wanna explain to me how these two units are holding?

Trying to play Australia and doing facist with my buddy in Japan... and did the civil war in Indonesia focus... and I cannot push through Indonesia... somehow. With FIVE volunters from Japan and 4 from me... we should be overwhelming the insignificant indonesians... but we aren't...

We cant push past two units with zero 10% org. They are just sitting there defending like t hey are spartans somehow...

Whats the solutions?

I've lost about 15,000 manpower just to this fight....

Otherwise, I think the Australia tree is probably... one of the worst ive seen then just for this reason.

I cant get naval supremacy because INdonesia has no fleet, I can't just declare war on them because that brings in the Allies. What are my options?

You have 20 attack vs 400 defence. Check what penalties you have - I'm guessing a massive amphib attack penalty. Try using marines, offshore naval support, aircraft (if anything has sufficient range) or just make a new naval landing behind those forces and surround them.

Cant. Its a civil war in Indonesia. Cant use naval invasions, my navy or anything. You're literally stuck with just attacking normally... so basically... no point in even doing the Facist Australia tree.

Well in that case you'll have to make do with what you have. Maybe make a better template for these volunteers.

Marines, including engineers, no line artillery/motorized. I think that with a Force attack you should be able to deorganize these 2 divisions enough so that they'll retreat. You just have to keep pressing on the attack.

As far as I can tell this is the connection between Lesser Sunda and Java. So you'll have an amphibious landing penalty (-70%) while attacking into mountains (-60%). Combined, those put you at a disadvantage of 8 to 1, before taking into account the defense/breakthrough imbalance of infantry.

According to the screenshot, you have no battleplan or planning bonus. In a linear situation like this you should rely on automatic plan execution and fully charge your planning bonus. If Japan stayed on Grand Battle Plan doctrine, that's a 40+% bonus you are not using currently. It also seems like Indonesia has an intel advantage. probably only 10% but still something to avoid.

As mentioned you'll definitely want support artillery (and no other artillery due to the terrain penalties), engineers (reducing the amphibious penalty to -45%) and marines or mountaineers. At least the Japan player has marines from the start. Indonesia has no anti-tank capabilities so a light tank recon should give you armor bonus. Something like this:
anti_indonesia.png

This will fully cancel the amphibious landing penalty. Training to level 3 and the planning bonus should fully counteract the mountain penalty. With 5 of these divisions you should end up at about ~300 combined soft attack instead of the 65 you have currently.

Ramming your face into them over and over will work eventually. Other than that, you could always retreat from the province and then walk back in to bait the enemy into attacking you.

I did a few campaigns as fascist Australia and never had a problem with Indonesian civil war. You have to maintain the initiative and don't let the enemy regain organisation and entrench himself when he got pushed over the strait.

Might be the debuff from attrition bro, try shifting some men out or putting my ports/infra in.

then throw some CAS in and cycle attack to eventually de-org the enemy army.

from the battle screen it looks like you’re just selecting all your units and throwing them all in at the same time into the battle, which means your units join the battle, get de-orged but don’t actually inflict any damage. Send 40width worth of divisions in to attack, then once they get deported send another 40 widths worth and once they join the battle cancel the attack on your original units. Let them re-org and then rinse and repeat until they enemy divisions break from de-org.

if that fails, upgrade your divs, 16 width is not very good at all, you want 20 width or 40 width.

How, you ask? They are basically doing ~15x the damage per division you're doing.
They hold really, really favorable ground, simply pushing with infantry would likely be even worse than WW1 trench warfare in the alpes.

Even as volunteers, you can still send CAS, which would be immensely helpful.
And as said before, better micro with planning bonus would also do you good.
Depending on your reinforcement rate, you could even retreat one division at a time on low org so a fresh one can join the battle, avoiding the enemy reorging at all, while you could cycle divisions almost indefinitely.

Yeah, the trick is to cycle your units, that is, attack with 4, then attack with 4 more once the first are beaten back, and just keep going this way, not giving the enemy the opportunity to reorg. It will cost you a lot of manpower, but it should win out eventually unless they bring units from somewhere else.

If you attack with all units, your units that are waiting to reinforce the battle wont regain org, so it probably wont work.

Just incase your don't know, in the battle screen you can hover over the numbers to get a detailed breakdown. That will give you more info to help determine why what is happening, is happening.
