Wanderlust event chain story. Spoil it please.

Today I finally got the Wanderlust event chain on my new game.
However after searching three systems and talking to the rogue scientist, the drones never spawned. Dunno why. Maybe because the system I talked to the scientist had an enclave in it? The drones never spawning seems to be a common problem. I am assuming that the event is broken if the drones never spawn?
Anyway I was wondering how the event chain story goes from there? Could you potentially get some nice tech from it or something? Whats the deal with the scientist? I know that the event chain speeds up the Unbidden, but not much beyond that. If any knows about the event chain and would spoil it for me I would be very grateful.

I wish I could, but in my 400+ hours I never encountered it.

From what I remembered, I got a science ship and possibly some small research boost. Definitely no tech.

It seems to be an event chain that basically spawns the Unbidden within 20 years but I don't know what it entails.

No. It merely speeds them up (by a factor of 0.2, I believe). In fact, I finished the game in which I encountered this event without any crisis.

I honestly don't know if I've encountered it or not. Does it have something to do with losing your science ship and then getting a new one back after a little bit? I know i've gotten that event plenty of times.

I think the end result is either getting another science ship or the scientist (who i believe is level 5) there may be other outcomes too, i don't really remember, only had it fire once

No i think you're thinking of the anomaly, the one where you're ship disapperes for a few days or something and then it "comes back" but now it has the same ship texture as the unbidden ships do (it's a pretty cool anomaly compared to most in the came imo)

No the wanderlust chain is a pretty rare "starting event" chain (sublight probes 10% chance ,radical cult 10% chance, wanderlust 1% chance, mass extinction 10% chance, no starting event 69% chance)

Sad times. I was hoping for an early crack at extradimensional weaponry, similarly to how you can get lances from the cultists event chain.

Well to be pedantic it does give you "earlier" access to it since it speeds up the arrival of the unbidden by 0.2

But yeah... you're not really missing out. Tho it can give you a really early level 5 researcher. Which is probably the best bonus of any of the starting event chains to be fair. But it's not THAT great.

The chain is broken. The event spawning drones refers to a non-existent design, so no ships are spawned. And without drone to destroy, you cannot advance the chain any further.
