Can anyone tell me if this issue has been addressed in this forum?

In nearly all the games that I have played, I have run into a situation where enemy troops wander all over my controlled regions and are invulnerable until they pick a spot to attack.

It is very annoying, for example, to watch 26 American divisions march from Vladivostock all the way to cherbourg and attack.

Sorry I dont have time to search all the pages of this forum to find an answer. Thanks folks!

There is a problem with units not retreating to where they are supposed to. This has been adreessed on this forum, is this pretty much the same thing.

I do not know if you mean similiar thing I was going to report.

I was playing germans and several times when enemy tried to make landing in France enemy units retreated across France and Germany eventually ending in Danmark.

Not sure if related but every time this happened (about 5 times of perhaps 10 landings) I had only 1 division defending against 1 assaulting, if had more enemy were destroyed like they were supposed to.

I dont think these units are retreating, as I dont see them until they land on an unoccupied province. They cannot be attacked at all and move over and through my provinces. Even provinces that have units in them.

They march all over my territory and then finally, attack when they reach some destination.

For another example, I had about eight British divisions land in German controlled Yugoslavia and they marched all the way to Hamburg where they attacked and conquered it.

Hope that explains it a bit better than I may have originally.

One other thought VJ - if you do not think this is retreat related then when you see this happening, you may want to save the game so that you can send the save files to someone and they can get a better idea of what exactly is happening.

As for amphibeous assults, keep in mind that many islands are considered land connected from the game's perspective. Is it possible these units were retreating from an island and only appeared to be landing in unoccupied territories?

I have had this happen to me in about every game I play as Germans.

Either failed landing in france causes them to retreat towards the swiss, then turn to cross germany and end up in denmark (if german controlled) or the hamburg area.

In the invasion of france, also had this happen the non-french units retreating into germany.

These units get free passes through my units until they decide to attack, a couple times in the middle of germany.

One solution, air power can still attack them. I sent a pack of bombers on them with continuous attack until they wipe the unit(s).

I have had up to a 3 unit formation and 3 different groups wandering around. I try to not let it worry me. Call it "resistance movements".

Exactly same route they took in my game. Every time they ended in Odensee, Denmark. Of course might be that it was next unoccupied beach..

I've seen this too...retreating enemy armies, retreating half way across your country only to take a province at the end of their strange trip.

Sometimes retreat attrition will take care of them, but usually you have to tac bomb them to death or just follow them with a stack of your own troops...

As stated by others, it happens quite often...

Usually when vichyfrance is astablished.

In my last game I had Britts and Canadians in the maginot-line.
These troops started to wander around the map, creating bridgeheads in all ports they came across.
It took long time and effort to get rid of them.

I think all allied units in the middle of France should surrender.
They are SO out of supplies...

I see this alot(mostly the retreating one). But I also see this happen at times when I think it isn't the retreat bug. Recently as nationalist spain I had the canadians attacking lisbon from girbraltar. They would walk past my units never attacking. Then when they reached llisbon they would attack. There org was near full and same with strength so I doubt they where retreating to there. every few weeks they would send a few new units. I stationed troops all along there route to lisbon but they did nothing. I don't have a save unfortunetly
Thanks,
W0ss

Playing as USSR, I occupied Germany and regions that had been under German occupation (Netherlands, Belgium and parts of France). USA actually invaded in Bordeaux this time and with the US liberation of Paris France was re-established.

What's the weird part is that the newly built French units regularly enter provinces controlled by USSR, although there is no military access treaty in place and France is part of Allies while USSR leads Comintern. They just wander around a little in Soviet occupied Germany and then return to their own side. OK that wouldn't be so bad, but as they go they CAPTURE occupied French, Dutch and Belgian provinces returning control to their original owner. This happens even if my Soviet units are stationed in the same province. Luckily, they don't capture originally German provinces which remain under Soviet rule!

These endless wandering invaders has happened to me everytime I have played Germany. The only way to get rid of them is to surround them completely when they land and then attack..and not even that seems to be functioning all the time.

It is a bit of the same as with the "hanging" British planes. In each game I've played so far, there has appeared a "hanging" British plane over a seazone somewhere, until you get long range fighters ivented so you can kill it.

Same Thing- Not Retreating Units

I have the same problem with Germany 1936 start with Version 1.02.

However I don`t think their "retreating units" .

I had taked all France in 1940.

I had a report that " Paris was occupied, etc " in 1941, there was a French unit there, however the province never changed ownership, I couldn`t attack the unit with Land or Air units, and it eventually wandered through my units and off the map edge into the Sea.

This has happened a few times through 1943 in different French Provinces.

In 1945 I still control all of france , however in Ruzomberrok province, Rumania, an Alied Country, an American Mech. unit suddenly appeared there, and is wandering North, again no ownership is changing, and I can`t attack it.

This is kind of annoying and I don`t know what it`s going to do.

I have a save game showing this.

BTT

Just wanted to say in a new game I`m Russia VS AI Germany, the same thing happened in late 1944, however this time the Free French ( ?? ) sent a unit through several provinces in Southern France that I had taken, as they passed through my Air Units disappeared and the province reverted to French from Russian on the Dilpo. screen.

This seems to happen in the late Games with many different countries units on the Map, but it`s the first time I have seen my units vanish and the province revert.

This may relate to people posting on their units " vanishing " on other threads. Unless I`ve got corrupted files, I would consider this a rather serious You Know What ;)

Again I have a save file if anyones interested..........?

On another, perhaps related problem, in this game a German Motorized unit suddenly appeared in Budapest, destroying my Air Unit, problem is I had all german units cut off from the City, no way it could happen.

Back again...

Is anyone else experiencing this, I just had a French unit ( we are allies ) move into a French Province with 2 US Fighter Groups and " poof" the fighter groups are gone !!

Considering the tricks you need to go to to get US AC units to Europe, this is a real problem....

Could someone _ Please _ tell me if this and/or the "wandering units " issue, which I think is related, and several folks have reported, is being addressed in a future Patch ??

I lost 3 Ger Trans squardons today from a wandering (wasnt retreating) unit from France, 3 years after i crushed them and institured Vichy, which decided to become physically manifested again in a province with my transports, the really agrivating part was their were 3 div of Para troopers in the province as well. They crushed the div (which was annihilated) and reclaimed the province, but then i had to build more trans for them.

Yes this happens to me all the time as well. Happens every game - land units that ghost their way over my territory, disregarding all attempts at attacking or stopping them until they reach some destination they have set for themselves. After that, they function normally again.
