Hi Paradox, just wanted to point out several inaccuracies about the map:

- You're using Vlach culture as South Slavic, it was never that, Vlach culture was, is and will be at least for the foreseeable future, Latin.
- Name and position of some provinces are a little wrong, like Galaz being Galati and province not being near to Constanta (or Constantia)
- Galaz (Galati) was always historically speaking part of principality/duchy of Moldau, not of Wallachia
- Not sure why you decided to use the names Torki(village in Poland, not associated with Vlachs), Peresechen (representative for Kievan Rus, not associated with with Vlachs) and Belgorod(still representative for slavic culture, not associated with Vlachs) to actually represent some of the Moldavian domains (or Moldau, the German name as it is in the game); however since Moldau was properly formed as a "duchy" only from the 14th century onwards, it's hard to suggest accurate names but for example Suceava instead of Torki, Neamt instead of Peresechen and Album Castrum (Cetatea Alba) instead of Belgorod are much more representative.

As for the first point:

It is a game-play thing. Vlach is in the South Slavic group not because of linguistic reasons, but for game-play balance. This has been brought up a lot since EU3 came out with culture groups. Cultures get certain bonuses if they control provinces of the same group and maluses for controlling provinces outside of that group. By adding Vlach to the south slavic group they are able to influence certain nations to expand or not expand in a way that is generally accurate for real life. Wallachia fell under strong influence from is neighbor Hungary (which is also in the South Slavic group despite not even being an Indo-European language) so this helps. But it can also help Wallachia expand as well and resist the ERE a bit more.

it would also not make sense for the Wallachians to prefer being ruled by, say, the French or Castillians: who are also in the Latin group.

So that is why that is. Nothing about culture, everything about balancing the game.

This is probably the reason that Catalan is in the Iberian culture group, despite the fact that culturally and linguistically Catalans (at least at the start of the CK II period) were essentially the same people as those living in southern Occitania.

In Crusader Kings 2 Hungarian is in the one culture culture group of Magyar. Europa Universalis 3 was the game in which it was in South Slavic.

Culture is not only language. That would not make sense. Culture is a lot more.... And really... Romanian/Walachian culture is more like Castillian or France culture then like South Slavic culture? I can't really belive this.

Are you for real? Romania/Wallachia has partly only religion in common with South Slavic countries, Orthodox New Style same as Greece for example vs Slavic Orthodox Old Style for South Slavs and maybe some customs. The rest is quite separate. What you're saying is like, well, Persians and Arabs are the same culture since they're all muslims. Before making comments like that, please check it out.

The cultural setup of the south east Europe will not change.
