Started a new game (Grand Campaign, medium difficulty) as Wallachia. I'll start by telling about the game so far, and conclude with some questions.

I started out by securing my borders, giving free passage to Hungary, Venice and Lithuania, entered an aliiance with Moldavia and Royal Marriage with Byzantines, Transylvania, Lithuania, Moldavia, Poland and Venice.

I started with a mixed army of 5000 inf. and cav each. This was not enough for the ambitious Vlad l so I raised another 8000 fottsoldiers. With this army, I declared war and invaded Serbia. The Serbian army was defeated in three battles outside their capital that quickly came under siege. My 8000 infantry entered the war later and marched straight to Kosovo. After about 6 months, both cities fell to me and I entered peace talks with the Serbian king, forcing him to give me Kosovo and accept vassiliation.

I knew that the Turks were massing their amies along my border and started preparing for this. A wave of nationalism gave me 500 extra infantry and 20 cannons, much needed reinforcements.

The Ottomans attacked as soon as these troops were gathered in Wallachia. I took two bankloans and hired three mercenary companiues, to with my main army in Wallachia, and one in Kosovo, were my 8000 infantry (well, 7000 by now) were still stationed. These troops immidiatly invaded Macdonia, defeating a small Turkish army there and laid siege to the city.

In Wallachia, the doomsday battle was fought and to my surprise, the Turks were routed. I immidiatly followed the retreating forces and pounded the remaining army in several more battles. By the time the last turk was killed along the Black Sea coast, Macedonia had fallen and my Kosovo army marched north to Bulgary, which fell after a few months siege. By now, all the Turkish provnces in Europe were in my control. I tried to get a right of passage with Byzantine to strike at the Turkish homelands, but were refused.

The Turks sued for peace, and to my surprise gave me all the provinces I had captured. Within 5 years, Wallachia had become one of the dominating powers on the Balkan!

Now for my questions.
1. Cash! I need lots of money fast! How do I loot enemy provinces? Any other way of increasing tax income ASAP.
2. Can I move my capitol?
3.Good strategyto maintain my newly won realm? I am very shaky still, with few troops and lots of rebellious land.

I'm waiting for Vlad Tepech....hehehe

Declare war on someone, preferably with a CB, and control all of their provinces. See that black smoke coming from the provinces? Thats your standard, automatic looting. Lasts one year, and you get that province income. You can systemize this, looting the provinces each year (moving troops in after one year). Use war taxes all the time (you have a small country, and small stability costs still) If you can afford it, raise war taxes in February and August. If not, then only in August. You'll see some much needed cash flow in, and you will be able to pay down that loan in no time!

You stated that you have an RM with the Byzantines so that will give you and additional -1 to stability if you DoW them. I would not even bother with them unless they have lost Morea already. Otherwise you are breaking an RM for little gain (my experience is that the Byzantines are usually broke financially). Grab Bosnia.

I'm going to disagree on this one. I'd consolidate the newly won land, and ideally get the Ottomans to take Thrace. This will bring a COT in Thrace, and Wallachia could really use a COT. Hungary isn't really much of a threat once you're the size you are now. Lithuania is dangerous - I'd try to ally with them. They won't help you much, but they will keep your Northern frontier quiet.

As to cash, work on trade tech, and get merchants into Astrakhan and Novgorod (where most of the competition is low tech too).

sorry about the double post before. Mods feel free to use the axe;)

I think waiting a while will be alright. How long does it take to wear down nationalism in my captured provinces?

So, when/if the Turks take Constantinopel, it becomes a trade center? And I can come in like a saving hero? And I get the gold, theempire and the emperors saucy daughter?

That sounds like a deal!

Hopefully I will hav gotten Vlad the Impaler by then, it would amuse me to see him sit onn the purple throne...:D

Thrace will convert to Sunni when the Ottomans move their capital there.

LOL, best thing is to hope that they don't move their capital at all ;) (The CoT will still pop up as it is formed by a different event).

I'd still prefer the Sunni COT over the Orthodox non-COT. And the fact that it becomes their capital is a problem - you have to take all the rest of their lands before you can take Thrace.

30 years for the nationalism to die down. 1% every 10 years.

edit: just realized what you're number one priority needs to be - save up and pay off those loans!

If the Ottomans go with choice B in 'the City of Man's Desire', their capital stays where it is. If they then go with choice A in 'the economic reforms of Mehmet II', there'll be a CoT in an orthodox Constantinople.

15% chance IIRC.

[EDIT: a bit less actually, but I'm too lazy to calculate]

[EDIT2: Ok, ok it should be 12.75% (if 15% is the probability of the AI going with an ahistorical choice)]

It's far less actually even than 15% :)
