So i'm trying to find the best way to approach this route of the tree as i kind of really want to restore qing china since it's an option. but i'm having difficulty mostly deciding when would be a good time to declare the independence war or getting any foreign powers interested in giving more then just a few volunteer divisions. Having the most trouble with trying to decide how to deal with the huge boarder i share with japan and it's other puppet. Been mostly waiting for japan be ready to go to war with big china which has had mixed results since i can't join a faction with them due to my ideology or the simple fact i'm to late and japan pulls me in and the nationalists don't want anything to do with me. Anyway so yeah, any thoughts on if i should try to fortify the big boarder or simply try to just station troops at Japanese ports to see if the AI will just move out their own garrisons? (which is what i've had to resort to in my home territory just to keep my cities but still feels kinda like gaming the system)

Japan has a tendency to pump you up through focuses on non-historical. I recommend going for the Assertive route only after Japan has pumped you up, or if Japan starts going for China, in which case you should go Assertive ASAP, so you can kindly piss off.
As for how to win:
1. Shit out 200 8-width Divisions with Mass Mob
2. ???
3. Profit

In my experience winning the War against Japan much of problem. The real big issue comes to beating down CHina. Y lay mostly with Historical Focuses on and I`ve learned a few things:

*Five Equal Peoples > Staff the COurt with Manchus: The White Russian advisors give some nice bonuses and while the 4 Mil. Factories are nothing to sneeze at, this route is the most helpful Longterm

*Timing: I`ve been experimenting with diferent dates for the Uprising. Because the real problem is not defeating in Japan, if you rush its port its vanguard will colapse in less than two months. THe real problem is defeating CHina who will get beefed up up to that point

*Grab all the Factories you reasonably can can get before declaring indepedence.

*Let Japan and CHina grind themselves to a pulp, only declare indepedence if you see Japan might defeat China

*If you manage to vassalize some Warlords through the Focus , immediatly create a faction a force them in: They ahve nasty habit of escaping Serfdom through their Foci and rejoining the United Front

If you go with assertiveness and don't increase autonomy level you will not be pulled into a war (but you can't declare yourself). You can try waiting until JAP is halfway through China to backstab them - just don't wait until just before they win or you will be in a world of hurt.
