Most of King's important posts are on pages 2-7, or so. They are working on a 1.4 patch, and it is due out Q1 2010. There is lots of other good stuff in here though.
Thanks. Good post.

Assuming that the USA is anything like the UK, the first thing that happens is you get to have a mechanic look at it FOC. That would be equivalent to the Tech Support Forum in the case of HoI3. If it still will not go, you get your money back; Paradox has done this for HoI3 also. If it's a more subtle, less serious problem then the chances are you'll get help, but no guaranteed refund; since 1.2 this is what most complainants have been reporting.I drive a car off the parking lot and it stops a couple of times I get to take that baby back and take my money somewhere else. Haven't had that happen yet.
Given that bank savings and current accounts pay interest far below the opportunity cost and inflation generally assessed on cash funds, I could argue that everybody with money in such accounts loses money. In cases where the interest is below inflation the loss is palpable and incontrovertible. The bottom line is that life is a chance you take - in the words of the OP, many folk need to "wake up" and realise that.I don't know anyone that had money in a savings, checking or money market account that lost money from the banks. A lot of debt holders, but if you are going to buy risky mortgage instruments, that is the chances you take.
....Can any of you type down in the most simplest form without extra hate why you think game is unplayable, like "game is broken coz AI doesnt work at all"?
Armchair General said:....Overall, HOI 3 is a disappointment in its current state. It is not a bad game, per se, but the differing parts of the game itself do not work well together. The diplomatic and military AI is nearly useless in single-player mode. Strange actions by the AI and an overly difficult supply system further hamper a rewarding game experience. Given Paradox’s past track record, I suspect that the game will emerge to be an excellent simulation around patch 1.6 or 1.7 … just about the time Hearts of Iron 4 comes out....
You want the US Congress to oversee products released by Paradox? I didn't realize Sweden was an American state.
By the way, you do realize they've been offering refunds for this game for quite some time, right? It's not like there's nothing you can do if you're unsatisfied.
P.S. Oh yeah, and companies that release products that don't work won't fly here? Are you serious? Ever bought a toaster? Or anything from Microsoft? Or a pencil sharpener made domestically? Or, well, pretty much anything made in our country?
Correct. You do not need to register in order to get official patches.
On the other hand, registering allows you to post bug reports (which can help make the game better, as well as relieving your angst), read and post in the Technical Support Forum (which can help you find work-arounds for any problems that you've encountered), and... if you choose to do so... to take part in any open Forum Beta-tests of upcoming patches (which again can let you play a role in improving the game, as well as giving you a preview of the new patch contents).
Naturally, you may feel that it's not your responsibility to help Paradox improve the game. Quite true. No argument there... but many players consider it an opportunity, not an imposition.
...then again some folks are just customers and don't like being handed a wrench
when they buy a new car and be told they will need to be part of a group of folks
in similar states with an unfinshed car. Now it can be fun to be part of a group
that fixes games but IMHO i would rather buy one that is done or nearly there and
just play it.
I dont know about you, but registering a game to me just says: ´i own the game´ and does not go on saying ´... and i love it.´. It merely says: I bought it. That registering does have an effect on the reception of your comments has been well demonstrated to you - hasnt it? I think one of the devs themselves said something along the lines of: ´We weight opinions, complains and inputs of registered users, we know have paid for the product, a lot more than those of unregistered users, where we can not be sure of the same thing.´ (not an exact quote - just something along the lines) It´s to some extent like being part of the club. Or say a politcal party. If you are not a member, you can rant about what you dont like about it, but you have a lot less say in how it conducts its affairs, if you are not member (though, you still have a say, if you are not - they still want your vote after all).
This i can agree with. The hype was in no way justified by the quality of the product. PI has commented various times on how this happened though and did, as far as can be expected from a company, apologize. They also vowed to not let this happen again and took counter-messures. Put it in the drawer labeled ´s*** happens - nobody is perfect´. It would indeed be nice to see some apologetic action, some kind of compensation, by PI, like offering the 1st expansion for half the price for people who registered before a certain date [EDIT: pre 1.3, i´d suggest] (kind of like an interest-repayment, for the time between buying the game and actually being able to play it) - but that wouldnt help you (nor will it happen, i suppose)...
Then we'll agree to disagree. As far as I can tell you and everyone else on here, you may well have a pirate copy. Which basically means you're complaining about something you got for free.
Edit - I rarely register my games too. I usually cant be bothered. But if you spend time on the forum, as we both do, and the forum has an option to show others which games you own, then it really does make sense, mainly so they know you are not a pirate owning freeloader. I would have registered hundreds of games in my time if I had bothered, but only ever have registered these three on this forum for that reason !
Ive also owned EU, EU2, HOI 1 and 2, CK and Victoria in the past, but sold them, hence no icons !
What I do enjoy, and consider Paradox one of the few companies to actually care about, is that HOI3 will end up with more features then it started with, even prior to an expansion being made and released.
Most games can't claim that. The few that can, are usually Paradox titles.![]()
I still don't feel like I've gotten my $40 worth out of HOI3.
I'm waiting for the AI to pose a serious challenge and be able to at least hold me back if I'm outnumbered or try to plug a gap if I make one.
I want to reiterate that. The game is not really functional as a finished product, until the 1.4 patch, in my opinion. If someone said to me, should I buy HoI3, I like war games, or ahistorical simulators, or WWII games, I'd say no, wait for the FOURTH MAJOR PATCH.
As I said above I can afford buying a not finished game and wait for months in order to get the bug fixed. What I don't like is to be obliged to buy an expansion in order to play.

Actually, if you read what I said you would realize I would not like that. It does seem as that may be needed, if things keep getting worse. PI doesn't make products here, but they sell them here. And, last time I checked, Microsoft was a software company, and probably the worst example of what I have been talking about.
Btw, you can see from my join date, I have been playing PI games a looong tme. Actually longer than that, because it was a while before I got on line to check out the company's site. I like PI games, it is just so frustrating to see the software industry do this. You but products and they aren't even guaranteed to do what they say they will do, and if the product mess up you records or system, hell, they have a disclaimer saying they didn't say it would work in the first place or promise to do anything for that matter.
Here we go again, another complainer...
Can you at least give me the name of a recent ww2game as good as this one?
