It amazes me that anyone here defends paradox at all, but maybe the minority folks defending paradox are paid by paradox or maybe their just blind dumb asses?

Some of you just dont get it do you?

Since a moderator hasn't chimed in yet, here is the deal: you are allowed to critique the game. You are allowed to complain, point out problems, and so on.

You aren't allowed to make attacks against forum members, developers, etc. So stop doing that. Thanks.

FWIW, I don't play the game anymore because it is too broken for me. Unlike you, however, I do believe it will become a good game in time. That isn't an excuse, it is just patient optimism based on a solid PI track record. One more point: believe it or not, PI is learning from this mistake.

To be fair HoI3 is more fucked up then HoI2 1.0 was.

Wait till 2012 though...you won't find a single complaint thread on this forum about HoI3 ;) HoI4 on the other hand...

The thing about Paradox games are they are extremely in-depth, complex, thought-provoking games. They have so many intricacies it's a wonder that they ever get them to run as smoothly as they do (I myself have not experienced a single CTD). But they do start off with many bugs in gameplay but they work their asses off to address them.

The other games out there that come out polished and few minor bugs. They fall under two categories: A) games produced by gigantic corporations with enormous budgets or B) games so simple you get bored of them within a few hours of playing

So I am grateful for at least one company that has not taken the route of dumbing their games down and takes the risk required to produce such complicated cerebral strategy games which simply have no match out there. I can't think of any company producing strategy games as in-depth, detailed and fun as Paradox, can you?

There is another company as well, matrixgames.com. Believe they are turn based games tho.

He has a point! He opened my eyes! I'm quitting HoI3 forever! I want Johan fired or I will sue Paradox for ruining my life.

(no, i'm not:p)

lol - remember the thread where that guy WAS going to sue Paradox for ruining his life ?
Now that was entertainment.

So love the game or hate it.. the one thing it has done is make us laugh a bit on these forums.
oh and I hate it by the way :)

i got HOI III in the first day, installed, looked at it for 30 minutes, then left the game and still waiting for a patch which makes it playable. i don`t feel comfortable when i know game is broken. same thing happened for HOI II. i didn`t play the game until the release of the third patch. and for this one, i think i need to wait until the fourth patch.

i`m upset but i know there is no other game better than this. so, i can just damn capitalism and play HOI II for now. that`s all i can do. i can`t go to Sweden, kidnap Johan and force him to make the patch

and by the way if someone can organize an operation for him, i`m in :D

I still have HttT to toy with and also plan getting FTG so AoD will wait a few months.

You think you can motivate Johan more than he already is? Maybe you should write a book on motivation then...

There sure are alot of people complaining really loud about this game. I don't mind if people complain then offer their own solutions to the problems, but people need to stop bitching!

You whiners should first take a look at the credits screen in the game. It shows only a dozen people working on this game. It can't even be called a skeleton crew. I am suprised that that many people can release such a demanding game. Hell, even CIV II which was release 15 years ago had 3 times more programmers.

I have problems, but then I try to mod my games in ways to compensate until a official patch is released.

What I see as an emerging pattern is complainers.

What the OP described is something is occurring to the software industry AS A WHOLE. Lets see starting from the OS you are using, how many patches were issued? Lets see how many business, ERP, CRM, SCM applications from big vendors you use or has been in touch with... Do they are bug-free? And about task-oriented applications (office, CAD, drawing apps), can you name ONE, just ONE that hasn't been tweaked, fixed and adjusted after "release"?

Error in software is a kind of probabilistic factor based on complexity. Creating a bug-free "pong" is orders-of-magnitude easier than create a bug-free "chess".

Also, you say you work in the games industry. You said, not me. Then without credentials and job type, would be hard to know from which perspective you are saying, and therefore, the validity of your opinion.

The Fact is right now Doomdark is at home, recharging his batteries, finding his Zen, perparing for the Big push after Christmas for the 1.04 patch. Already they game is more optimised, already lots of little things have been fixed (theatre AIs are much more likely to bring HQs home) and more will be done. Till then why not go back to sleep?

What I see as an emerging pattern is complainers.
I get difficulty in complex programming, I do. Did my share of projects while studying Computer Science, and even the "easy" ones turned out to have quirks. What I don't get is letting marketing drones without that knowledge set deadlines for project releases.

[rant]
What I see is constantly releasing products in the late alpha/early beta stage as 1.0 versions, and going from there. HoI3 is but one example of a myriad, with version 1.3 being the first one reasonably stable, but still with major balance and UI issues (and I mean major, there's a whole thread about that). There's an important difference between glitches and major things being broken, or just not done. Complainers? By now I'm sure you know where to stick it.

Personally I dont see much point in complaining anymore. We all complained months ago. Well now the game is at rock bottom prices ( grrr ) and its probably being liked by its hardcore of fans.
I dont think I will ever like it unfortunately, unless it gets a major overhaul, but thats just me and I think a great deal of those that bought it in its first few days and complained heavily ( as I did ) have since moved onto other things.

I can tell though that Paradox are learning from this one. Take the AoD release - this has been put back because it was crashing too often. So at least we can take comfort that Paradox seem to have learnt a bit of a lesson through HOI3.

We have learnt our lesson, but have you? By that I mean you as a fanbase. I sit over the Victoria 2 forum and tell people the economic systme wil bear a striking similarity to one you see in Victoria, there will be changes and these will make it better, but at its core is something we know works. I get so many replies going we want more, we don't care if it is 100% working out of the box, you'll patch it, etc. etc.. To be honest it is damned if you do and damned if you don't. If we do a Hearts of Iron 3 and try to reach as far as we can we get accused of ripping you off with a buggy piece of crap. If try to be more conservative we get accused of rippiing you off with a bland product that offers nothing new. It is really difficult to find the right balance. We try and we will not always succeed, but we do try.

Hoenstly there is no need for that comment, that is borderline trolling and see if people did not troll so much you find more dev posting and less ban hammer. I am actually on holiday at the moment but still find the time to post here, so you guys are not paying me at the moment so you should not be posting crap lke that.

i meant that in a positive way. most companies do simply ignore their forum completely.
