Shouldn't the name be scrapped if the majority dislike it though? Sure, it's subjective, but you can't say, if we were talking about a democracy, opinions are subjective therefore we shouldn't hold elections.

But what is the majority? Should changes be made every time a few vocal people scream on a forum? Not saying I'm against a change in this particular case, but majority is a big word.

Umm, thats not what I meant with my post. It should absolutely be optional and preferably changed too. Im just saying that, if we put ourselves in PDX shoes, its going to be impossible to please everyone. So they will most likely scrap all of this country names based on ideology, rather than change individual nations, that will displease many anyway.
Lets say they change Platypus, then everyone is going to want them to change the next offender in the list, and everyone is going to differ here too. So what can they really do? Give us the option to uncheck the names altogether and just have say France, no matter what ideology, is the most likely action they're going to take - if any at all.

For me, the absolute best solution of all is the option to write our own country name when the ideology changes, that way everyone can have what they want.

What they should do is simply write plausible names, it's really not much to expect from them, they're smart people, they could probably think of a complete list of plausible sounding names in a day.

They even have the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in-game, so why not something like the "Australian Union"? Sounds alright, looks reasonable, sounds plausible...but nah for some reasons they went with "Empire of the Platypus".

There's also Rosa Luxembourg, Bohemian Empire, Swiss Imperial Confederation, Canadian Empire, Costa Del Pueblo, Himalayan Empire, Lictor Ethiopia, Thunder Dragon Empire, Fourth Reich, Africa Nova and Kingdom of Prussia. I found that particularly strange, also. Even assuming a falangist kind of religious fascist party, they would never use a latin name given to them by catholics.

Estonian nazi were very much pro-German and considered themselves something of a continuation of Crusaders, ready tu purge the new heathens in the East. Simplifying things a lot, it's ok name.

We always get shafted (example, the two NZ provinces are called North Island and South Island. Neither of which is a state or region or county or whatever but simply a geographical location), us more so than Australia but them too. Our soldiers fought and died in WW2 too ya know. My granddad shot down Japanese planes in the pacific.
I feel like we deserve a little more respect and consideration than "lolololol Empire of the Platypus". As someone said earlier, save the jokes for the achievements. There's nothing wrong with jokes like that. But for the main game please show our two countries the respect we deserve and so often do not receive.

If you choose to follow in your grandfather's footsteps, you get respect and historical name. If you choose to kill your granddad in a fascist coup you get laughed at and a jokey name.
