I cannot sail into Oresund!

I'm playing USSR, and am trying to sail a naval fleet into the Oresund to support a land battle on the coast. The game refuses to allow me to sail into the Oresund sea zone, It just draws an 'X' on the map and my units stay put. I've tried sending a fleet from Pommerian Bay (to the East) and from the sea zone to the north, neither fleet and go through that sea zone! Save game available upon request.

EDIT: using regular v1.05, no mod packs or any modification whatsoever. Thanks!

One of the Danish provinces controls Oresund. If Denmark is at war with you or one of your enemies controls this province, you can't send your surface ships (but your subs) through.

You're kidding right? That's a rather extreme measure isn't it? What if I wanted to launch a large scale naval invasion on the Denmark? I am blocked from even making amphibeous assaults on this isalnd just because it is controlled by an enemy? Is there any historical event or realism to justify this?

Whether there is not, why don't you just walk there from Lubeck or Jutland and Odense? I am sure that Denmark is a wonderful nation but from the standpoint of bumps on the road to world domination, it's hardly a large one.

Historical realism: Well, without doubt the Allies absolutley ruled the North Sea by 1944. But there was no single Capital ship that entered Baltic Sea during WWII. In the Oeresund, there'd be good opportunities even for Torpedo Boats to strike capital ships hard. Then think off mines, coastal guns etc. The rule that oresund is blocked makes totally sense to me.

Of course, the fact, that the Panama Channel is NOT BLOCKED to your enemies, needs some fixing.

Ok, you may have some good points on fleet movement through the sund, but here's something: I can't even fly through this zone! I cannot fly any airplane over the oresund, and if I target Denmark's capitol province with a strat bomber, it pathfinds a way all the way around, following a land route through the island chain from the German side, instead of simply flying accross the Oresund.

Oops, no idea about that...

that is also a bugg:

sometimes planes that don't have the range to fly, say 2 provinces can fly 15 provinces if you move them.
The calculation counts the air way but if a neutral country is in the way the planes go around. i've tried to fly some planes to india from french vietnam but it said out of range so i moved them south and then tried to fly but the planes didnt fly over siam but around so they flied like 3 times farther than they could:rolleyes:

I believe the problem has come due to the restricted naval movement rules (which are good). For instane Gibraltar is block to surface shipping.
I haven't tried Øresund, but the way you describe it, it sounds kind of buggy!
When NOT controlling Denmark (or the Danish Isles to be precisely) you should still be able to enter the sea zone surrounding the isles. But when coming from the Baltic you should not be able to go north to Kattegat and Skagerak. And when coming from the North Sea you should not be able to enter that Baltic (sea zone south of Malmö).

But I don't know if the naval movement restrictions are able to take into acount whence the naval units came?
Or if the restrictions are absolute, regardsless of direction.

The problem I had with the naval restriction is, you cannot enter that sea zone from any direction, whether from the Baltic or from the North Sea, so the result is you are not allowed to stage any amphibeous assault on denmark whatsoever. No matter if you have a thousand transports willing to sacrifice themselves to any abstracted mines in the water, you are simply not allowed to even try it. So if you were a Soviet player, and you had no fleet already in the North Sea, you basically cannot leave the Baltic unless you declare war on Germany, fight your way through the northern german provinces, then finally come in Denmark through the island chain. Or even from the North Sea you cannot hit Denmark's capitol province directly, you need to land on the Denmark province adjacen to the North Sea, and fight through there. In conclusion it just seems a hasty solution to something which was never really an issue like the Panama Canal is.

But anyway, this airplane restriction is really a bug so I hope we can get that logged.

You can sail through öresund if you aren't at war with the nation that controls Copenhagen.

Right, I forgot to mention if you were at war with Denmark :)
Let's assume your USSR, Denmark joined Allies and Allies declared war on you (quite common if you like to be aggressive to some of the minors around you) but you are not yet at war with Axis powers.
