If this is done I want there to be a mode where you take on a city in the 430’s and everything is going to hell around you the goal isn’t to win but surviveHow long have I been waiting for a good successor to Caesar 2, 3 and 4? More than a decade apparently.
It is about time someone released a good Roman/ancient city builder that doesn't permanently languish in alpha/has over-the-top cartoonish graphics, dumbed-down gameplay for mobile players and fantasy elements. A HD game not restricted by square grid boxes and that absolutely infernal "market walker" system. A game that not only focuses on blandly building cities for the sake of building them (like in Cities Skylines or Grand Ages Rome), but makes you actually manage and run the said cities in detail like a real ancient mayor.
A game where you can actually be a governor of the province (like in Caesar 2) and build cities, roads and forts in your province; manage Legions stationed in your province, defend yourselves from barbarians and uprisings, maintain labour, migration and trade with other provinces of Rome, make some personal cash for retirement and buy family estates across the Roman empire (also with a prototype family tree). And like the old Caesar series, either make a peaceful career managing cities and strengthening the empire, or maintaining and expanding the frontier with an iron fist...until you either rise or rebel to become Roman Emperor himself.
