Hello!

I've started playing Victoria Revolutions just yesterday, and i must say that it's simply amazing! The only downside beign lack of any good, official tutorial, but i've dug out this guide, by Lord_Richmond and got started pretty fast. The tutorial should be stickied and worshipped, but that's jusy my POV ;)

As recommended by everyone i've started the 1st play as Belgium, and everything goes pretty well so far. I have, however, a problem. I've demanded a colony Claim from Netherlands, and bought the second claim from Portugal (the 2-province colony north of Australia) but even tho i have both now, and they both have buildings i cannot claim it.

To actually claim a colony (and turn it into "regular" provinces), there are a few approaches that might or might not apply to any given colony:

* If the colony consists of 4 or less provinces, you need to have colonial buildings in all of them to claim.
*snip*
* If you don't have one of each type, you need to fill the colony with your colonial buildings, not letting other nations have any, in order to be able to claim.

Is there anything i don't know about? In diplomacy i've found some lines saying that Belgium cannot make colonies until 1870 and in some cases 1885, but i already have the buildings there (given with trade).. is it still the case?

The second thing i cannot understand is Migration. Unemployed workers tend to migrate to provinces that cannot employ them either, instead of moving to the factories or RGO's that run at 60%.

And last, but not least, i've read a guide saying that one should promote Clergy and Clerks asap, to get more research points, that's fair enough, but where are you supposed to get the Luxury goods needed for it, when world market has 1, and there is no direct trade between countries? Switch ruling party from Intervent, stage factory building and switch back? I did so with paper, and after a few years someone started selling Precious Metals, which i quickly bought off, but it's only two of three or four demands. Am i doing something wrong 'ere?

Militancy supression, Income and War are going well so far, and capitalists work their behinds off making railroads everywhere.

Thank you, Regards, and happy new year!

Which colony do you mean? At start of the GC Netherlands has a claim on an island called Sandalwood, while the second island in that colony is Flores which is unclaimed. Portugal owns the island called Timor next to it. Are you sure you've got it right?

Are you playing some mod? In the vanilla GC there are no such clauses. Either way, I don't think it should stop you from claiming, only building new claims.

Migration runs on a logic all its own, not much to do about it I'm afraid.

No, you'll just have to wait for the goods to become available. Switching governments back and forth to build factories is generally not a good thing, since it will boost militancy in most cases.

Happy New Year!

Exactly these colonies, but Flores is (was) colonised by Portugal, i bought the claim from them. And silly me, i do have VIP 0.2 with the fix.

BTW, even if the market shows 1. It is still buyable but may take a minute or so til you get one. Try to start the game out with full control of the market and set lux/precious/paper/furn to buy 2
