Well except his longevity in the USSR politics I don't see any really good points in the man as an alternative for Stalin. Wondering where it will end

Well, IRL the only good thing with the name Kliment Voroshilov was the KV-1 tank series, but I really hope he will make a bigger impact in history in this AAR. One of the few not purged by Uncle Koba, I guess this is an achievement.

Maybe he will push for further development of KV tank series on expense of ''alt-historically erased'' IS ones? Or will be what we knew as IOTL Iosif Stalin tank family just named after Kliment Voroshilov instead?

But will we still get the King of Derp? That is my question.

I hope so. Unleash the swarms of KV-2 tanks to wipe out entire Panzer armies! Maybe its upgrade into super-heavy tank for even more derp power to counter German and Japanese landcruisers would be in place as well?

Well I have to say my knowledge of the man is less than limited, but the premise is interesting.

Wonder with Molotov out of the way how this will play out with Germany and Poland.

[spolier] Another thing to consider is that with Stalin out of the way the Red Army purges never happen. At least not on the scale which occurred historically. That also ensures the survival of Voroshilov's deputy, Deep Battle proponent Mikhail Nikolayevich Tukhachevsky.
And you might very well think that, but I couldn't possibly comment.

Fix your spoiler. Also, in the future, just press the "spoiler" button as opposed to trying to make it yourself.

I think it's not that big spoiler considering that it's quite realistic to expect officer corps would fare a bit better under Voroshilov's military regime in comparison to paranoid secret police state IOTL.

I wasn't saying he was spoiling anything. I was saying that that his "

" tags were made incorrectly.

Oh I see, sorry for misunderstanding. At least there was not much to spoil as such developments can be expected in author's timeline.

The Cult of Personality

During the early summer months of 1935 Voroshilov cemented his position with the Soviet people by reinforcing the mass-illusion of unanimous support through propaganda, specifically art that linked his image with that of Stalin.

Behind the scenes Voroshilov delegated much of the daily administration of government to Kaganovich. The Central Committee unanimously agreed that the industrialization program (4-Year Plan) would continue and be expanded. The People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD) was judiciously purged by Khrushchev. Tukhachevsky completed "Instructions on Deep Battle" and began work on Provisional Field Regulations for The Red Army.

So Voroshilov pretty much made Khruschev his own Beria? Altough I think this actually limited his influence as outsider strictly to shady/unruly/demanding internal security aparatus that will need constant control so good ol' Nikita won't be able to mess with other fields of interest like economy and top politics making. I wonder how would situation evolve in long term this way. Maybe military retaining control over supreme power and delegating various work (especially in economic planning) to technocratic professionals instead of making regime vulnerable to constant thaws or purges due to hawks and doves changing in power? Army people have usually focused personal nature so there should be no funny political experiments even if Zhukov or someone from younger cadres gets into Voroshilov's boots later. It will be interesting to see how might be technocratic reformists like Kosygin used for work in their fields of interest instead of being victims to constant bickering among top brass. Without Khruschev causing ideological confusion, communist bloc should be later also less fractured. Now you're already having Stalinism without Stalin, something like Brezhnevite era but hopefully with more sense for inovation instead of frozen status quo.

Really having trouble wrapping my head around Voroshilov going along with Tukhachevskii's ideas, given he opposed them IRL, and
assisted in Tukhchevskii's 9mm removal from command.

Will be interesting to see how a (relatively at least) purgless Red Army fares.

Edited the save game on May 1 1935, played forward to July 1 1935.

Made some sort of mistake that rendered save file useless. Will have to restart.
