I've been doing this as Castille for some amusement. A little slower start due to needing to divvy up your territory between several nations (I released Galicia, conquered then released Granada, got the Iberian wedding nice and early, so selling to 3 underlings until I only had Toledo), but a bonus colonist means I'm setting up 4 colonies and almost have the whole coastline of eastern America locked down. Portugal started showing up in some caribbean islands, but we share a dynasty and they had a regency so... snapped that up!

Also, I'm not sure if OP mentioned exactly where to put the capital, but colonizing, coring, and placing it in Manhattan is my suggestion. If you follow up by taking most of the Caribbean, all the trade will flow to Chesapeake which is a better place to collect.

Also : When you conquer the Mayans first, there's a mission that can give you 1,000 ducats for fully annexing the Zapotec. Then again for the Aztecs. I think you just need to own a province adjacent to them.

I usually put my capital in Mexico or Manhattan. I d o not always go for the American trade and Mexico, California, Mid west can still give you 200 ducats a month. You get more money going Caribbean/Chesapeake but it is not required as such. South America can also work as Peru+Brazil is like a mini Germany down there.

AE doesn't matter if everyone is dead.

But the reports indicate it builds up to very high levels long before everyone is dead, and large coalition wars are a problem due to the sheer amount of time it can take to win them, regardless of whether they're still a danger at any point in time.

If it's true, I'll find out sooner or later.

An event to replicate the Treaty of Tordesillas would be nice - Spain, Portugal or whoever has Papal Influence and QftNW (maybe you!) signs a treaty with the Pope dividing up the New World and should be able to attack colonies of any other power in certain areas without DoW, and their AI should encourage this. Large nations should bully their way into benefiting from the treaty, a OPM would get laughed out of town by the Spanish and Portuguese

Colonial DLC pack?
