If I lived in the UK and I was near those old airfields I would absolutely get a metal detector and ask the farmers if I could just walk around and see what I could find! I think it would be a great history lesson!

I have been attempting to teach myself Italian, and I'm just a beginner, admittedly I may not be right...

I believe it says something to the effect of "Areal photo of the airport of Brindisi with the hangar containing supplies for the assistance and utilization of the UN humanitarian mission."

Yeah, Brindisi is in Italy. It's down in the boot.

In the Wikipedia article about the charge:

"Corporal Lolli, unable to draw, as his saber was frozen in its sheath, charged holding high a hand grenade; Trumpeter Carenzi, having to handle both trumpet and pistol, shot by mistake his own horse in the head."

Weird, odd & unique planes of the WWII era

To my knowledge, some of these are faked/doctored; I know for sure the Canard-style B-17 is a fake. That being said, most are legit, like the dual Mustang (though it didn't come into production until post-war).

Speaking of Italy, I present the Battle of Monte Cassino. What I find interesting about the battle is that it was 4 separate assaults that lasted 123 days and was just as bloody as the battle of Gettysburg (1863).
