Hi everybody! (and sorry for large images)
I've been following the progress here on the forum for some time, and I must say that I'm looking forward to the game! Especially now that it has a release date.
I have no idea about how long time it takes to implement changes to a game, so I don't know if these suggestions are realistic, but I'll try anyway.
The game looks very good, but there are a few (mostly visual) things I would like to be added to the game to make it really stand out as a great city simulator.
1: more realistic highways.
CiM2 was great because you could build really realistic-looking highways and expressways. From the pictures I've seen, it looks like the developers have redone expressways for this game. And now it looks more toy-like. On-ramps looks short and not realistic. Please compare the image(s) from C:S to the image from CiM2:

Cities:Skylines
Cities in Motion 2. As you can see, the highways in CiM2 looks a lot better.
2: Wall-to-wall buildings.
Most cities, especially in the city center are deprived of space. That's why buildings are tall, and that's why buildings share walls. I've seen in other threads that this probably won't be possible, but I'll give my vote for wall-to-wall buildings anyway. If it's not possible to create actual wall-to-wall buildings, at least make it possible to put buildings really really close to each other, so that it looks like they are actual city center buildings. This applies to most cities, and almost all european cities of a certain size. Look here at this picture from Oslo:
3: Bigger variation of buildings.
From the screenshots we have seen so far, it seems as there are very few buildings in the game. So if you build a large industrial area, for example, you will have a lot of small, similar factories in the same area. That looks really sim city-ish, and doesn't give an impression of a real city.
4: Bigger industrial buildings.
When industry spawned in europe and america in the 17th century, there was mostly small buildings and factories. Today, most industrial buildings are huge! That is also one of the problems with modern day city planning. Industrial areas are very heavy on space. Look at these industrial areas in Torino, Italy.
5: Open plazas
Most city centers have some kind of open plazas where people gather. These make great city spaces and makes a city look natural. Some cities have several, like here in Helsinki:
6: Mixed zones.
I remember in CiM2 most city center buildings could be both commercial/workplaces and residental. At least students and pensioners could live in the city center, and it was also workplaces for white collar workers. Could that be possible to implement here as well?
