Vision Park - what is their malfunction?

Denmark: Release January 2001

Vision Park's Danish site says (at least when I checked it yesterday) Release: Dec 1, 2000.

But quite honestly, one can't help get the impression that something is lacking in general with the marketting of this game (after all, you can't blame Visionpark for not yet releasing the Scandinavian version, when the swedish master was first delivered after the german release). It would seem that Paradox is concentrating strongly on the german market to the detriment of everywhere else.

Worse - I have yet to meet anyone outside of this board who knows about the game. I don't know if the german gaming public has been bombarded with EU propaganda, but the german magazines we have here in Denmark don't seem to have much info on EU (as in nothing).

Makes one fear for the eventual fate of this game. While I'm sure lots of people would be happy to pick this game up for 100 DKKr ($10) in the bargain bins in a years time, I do think and hope that EU deserves better than that. :-(

Well I've think I've heard something bout Vision Park postponing the release.. But for the master, I'm sure that the swedish version has been ready for quite a while, even before the german one, but since the release date has been changed Paradox has kept the program to put some final tuning on it before going gold with it. Well some guesses but quite reasonable.

Yeah, but Paradox has previously stated that the 12th of December will be the release date for all of Scandinavia.

It seems that the info from Vision Park to gameshops is kinda, whatchamacallit?... sketchy? At least a site like betafon.dk states that EU should be released in October.

Agreed, the marketing so far has been no less than catastrophic. I don't know who is to blame for this though. For all we know, Paradox might have contacted every single games magazine (on- and off-line) in existence. It would not surprise me to learn that most magazines had turned them down out of hand. EU is not exactly a mainstream game.

As far as I know are the only indication that the Danish release will not be December 1 that someone asumed that the Danish release would be at the same time as the Norwegian (and that is moved to Janauary 2001).

Correct: I _assumed_ that the Danish/Norwegian release dates would be the same; it's VP sweden that has received the final EU draft(in swedish, damn their eyes), so it'll have to be translated before they can issue it. VP Norway tells me the norwegian version will come out 'in early 2001', which the saleswoman assured me meant january. I therefore made an educated guess based on my knowledge of that company's earlier late-release bloopers...

Not that it matters, I'm ordering the swedish version and editing it back to english.

Excatly, at the movment we stand at the swedish version will (probably) be relased December 1, the Norwegian in January 2001 and the Danish probably not before the swedish and not after the norwegian. Or thtas my conclusion.

Thats from german to english but it will work with the swedish version as well I guess.

Just a note, the game has been made in swedish, ie you shold have to translate it to english, not back =)
