Scythe,

I don't know if it is only in my tests, but in EVERY test that I ran the Ecuador is a lost cause. Always eaten by Peru.

And Chile doesn't put a fight in the Pacific War.

The PEU/ECU, I removed the combat line in the AI and still they are history! In the Pac.War, I tweak the AI a little bit, gave them a path of invasion. Also put their Navy at work! :)

I've done it to Uruguay, just to assure the Paraguay War. :(

Scythe,

I don't know if it is only in my tests, but in EVERY test that I ran the Ecuador is a lost cause. Always eaten by Peru.

Well, since that doesn't happen anymore in my tests (and PEU doesn't even have Quechua culture now and Ecuador still gets a couple of extra divisions....), I really don't understand why that always happens in your tests....don't the events fire? what is the difficulty/AI aggresiveness level? how does the war progress? etc. Some more specifics would really help here.

I mean, if it's absolutely necessary I can script the war to be even more deterministic than it already is....but that would make it more boring, I think.

And Chile doesn't put a fight in the Pacific War.

This was true, until recently.

But now, it is also strange, since I'm a bit worried about the opposite thing, after adding a couple of events to PEU and BOL....however, it is true that CHL has a pathetic budget compared to PEU and BOL (even after removal of Quechua/Aimara...) for almost the entire game, so perhaps that is also contributing to the problem that you are seeing....with a very small budget, it's hard to support a sizable army without going into deadly debt.

The PEU/ECU, I removed the combat line in the AI and still they are history!

Well, as said above, more info would be welcome...

In the Pac.War, I tweak the AI a little bit, gave them a path of invasion. Also put their Navy at work! :)

Well, like I said before, any positive contribution/correction to the AI that you can make is quite welcome, thanks for helping on that front... :D

I'll install these new files and see what happens....

BOL_PAC.ai
Code:
# AI for BOL Bolivia during The War of the Pacific (1879-1883)
# modified by Scythe, based on the ai originally written by Pimparel as for 1.02
[/quote]

Btw, I think that the heading can be changed a bit by now, since the file is really rather different from the 1.02 version I originally worked on...

Maybe we'll have to do this:

Code:
#########################################################################
# Ecuador Survival by Pimparel
#########################################################################
event = {
	id = 387005 #This is a rushed and a feeble way to enforce history
	random = no
	country = PEU

	trigger = {
		not = { exists = ECU }
		owned = { province = xxx } #at least the capital and the coastal
		owned = { province = xxx }
		owned = { province = xxx }
		ai = yes
	}

	name = "AI_EVENT"
	desc = "AI_EVENT"
	style = 0

	date = { day = 1 month = august year = 1836 }
	offset = 30
	deathdate = { day = 30 month = december year = 1920 }

	action_a = {
		command = { type = make_satellite which = ECU }
	}
}

I've done it to Uruguay, just to assure the Paraguay War. :(

And it's not a bad idea...in fact I agree with it....but perhaps we could restrict the dates a bit more....how about 1840-1890?

Scythe,

Do you want my last savegame to check it? Those events that you mentioned are in the last release?

About CHL economy, I am working on it!!! BRZ economy is strong, even more than I wanted :), I am working on ARG now (BTW, which is a good date to ARG change their focus, towards industrialization? 1890?).

I am thinking about giving that uncolonized strip of land back to CHL, their economy isn't good (I hope that with 1.04 and the increase in the p.metal valour, it gets better). But it would be ahistorical.

Also there is the problem of the colonizing zones, classify America as a whole, it should be N.America and L.America, cause we always will have the chance of a RUS or ENG in Terra del Fuego. :(

EDIT: The ai will be: ARG_80.ai

The ECU-PEU events yes (in the last internal release), but not the BOL/PEU ones...in any case, a savegame could help to check things, I suppose. Still, I'll make a couple of extra modifications...

The 1880's would be a good start, from what I know (of course, Generalisimo might have more specific details). The following page has some information too:

http://www.mecon.gov.ar/cep_anteriores/notas/notas8/nota2.htm

I am thinking about giving that uncolonized strip of land back to CHL, their economy isn't good (I hope that with 1.04 and the increase in the p.metal valour, it gets better). But it would be ahistorical.

Well, now that you mention it, it's also ahistorical that ARG/CHL almost never colonize these regions by the game's end.... :p We may have to do something about that too....

In any case, if 1.04 doesn't fix the price of precious metals, we should change the province that contains them in Chile to something more valuable (like Iron, maybe?).

Also there is the problem of the colonizing zones, classify America as a whole, it should be N.America and L.America, cause we always will have the chance of a RUS or ENG in Terra del Fuego. :(

Yes...though at least in the case of RUS, I personally don't see the need for them to have to colonize America at all, we could just give them Alaska as a whole and be done with it....but this is just my opinion, seeing that the RUS AI finishes colonizing the area rather quickly.

EDIT: The ai will be: ARG_80.ai

Alright. ;)

MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH

Finally, I got the AI economy working!!! My Brazil AI, has in 1910 12 factories and a small but nice RR. ARG has 4 factories and had colonized the pampas, and only with 1836ai working, wait for 1880! ;)

Also CHL is colonizing in 2 out of 5.

Scythe, an issue that I found in CHL, BOL and PEU is the number of soldiers, someti,es there is no one in the RGO's and the only POP in the province is the soldiers.

Maybe the demobilization event should be bigger?

hey pimparel! i am playing a game with Prussia right now and i have seen something "weird"...
i look at the great powers table in March of 1843 and i see Brazil in the 5th place... i ask to myself... "why they are there?"... so i take a look at the ledger...
Military score: 17... good
Industrial score: 10... good
Prestige score: 271... oh my God!! :eek: :eek:
only UK has more than Brazil with 279... the 3er one in the race is Spain with 170... so i think something went weird with Brazil here... ;)
do you know why?
maybe it is some event or something like that...

They annexed U00? If so they receive 100+ prestige, it is due the war. This is why I am trying to stall the war till +/-1845, but sometimes I can't hold it.

Normally I don't give prestige awards bigger than 5. It is not from event.

And the England AI made a screwup cause it came from 279 to 255. THAT's not my fault!!! :D

Also, check my savegame above, to see the Uruguay Immigration Heaven and Brazil and Argentina new Economies. :D

Ahh, now I *finally* understand what you meant, pimparel...Peru did mutilate Ecuador but, from what I can see in your savegame, it was only by 1882. That really makes a big difference....

Did you like my savegame? Uruguayan Population 40M!!! :eek:

Edit: In order to extent my AI skills, I am working with Portugal, cause 1) Its a Medium Power; 2) Colonial; 3) No Wars; 4) Colonial Wars; 5) Presence in Africa, India and Oceania.

Objectives: 1) Knowledge of Navy placement; 2) Garrison Colonies; 3) Colonizing; 4) War away of the border; 5) Colonial War

I will try to add for the next release.

I have a suggestion to make:

Why don't you change the Brazilian pre-1888 parties' minority policy from 'slavery' to something else?

Obviously Brazil was a slaveholding country, but the way the game works the policy of your ruling party has no influence at all on the slaves. Instead it only has influence on the attractiveness of your country for immigrants.

Wasn't Brazil an immigration country in the 19th century? How easy was it to gain citizenship?

Maybe the concept of minority policy should be considered differently. The Brazilian politicians certainly didn't think that the Bazilian race (whatever that is) was superior to all other races and that these should serve the master race, did they? So why is their setting 'slavery'?

Sorry, but I won't make an ahistorical 'fix', of such proportion just to please the players. The issue was slavery till +/-1860, them it started to change, but slowly.

And after all, even with this setup, I managed to grab some immigration, not the 'real' value, but some.

And, you were right, the wasn't a concept of 'brazilian race', but even the european white immigrants, didn't had the all the rights, sometimes they were used in a semi-slavery system, cause the farmer-owner paid for his trip, paid for accomodation and food, and the immigrant had to pay his debt before, he could manage to raise money to buy his own land, which weren't available. The debt keep going on, and on and the immigrant almost never achieved their objectives.

So, no non-slavery parties before 1860.

Till 1828, URU was part of BRZ, the had their Independecy after a mediation of UK between BRZ and ARG.

So, wouldn't be interesting if our scenario starts with:

1) BRZ, ARG guarantee URU;
2) ENG guarantee URU;
3) BRZ, ARG and ENG guarantee URU;

Which is better? And is it feasible?

It might be prudent to consider the effects from a possible alliance between URU and U00 from events and if a guarantee can be broken with events.
