Yes, that's the most likely period to finally add it in....probably just before or just after the War of the Pacific though, would have to check for some more data.

Still, as mentioned before, there could easily be earlier periods where the culture is added for a few years, and then removed again, then given again after a decade or two, etc.

And there could still exist an "optional" event (using flags, if I code it correctly), all the way through, that may give the culture back permanently if the player/AI is truly a benefactor of the natives and integrates them into society....of course, such a thing would be rather expensive and would upset the upper classes.

And finally, this may solve the Über-PEU and BOL problem.

Peru

Scythe,

Meddling with Peru, I found this:

Your new revolt.txt
Code:
2093 2094 2096 2384 2390 2391 2392 2393 2394 2395 2396 2397 2398 2399 2400

Peru in the others Paradox Scenarios (1861, 1881, 1914):
Code:
2093 2094 2096 ____ 2390 2391 2392 2393 2394 2395 2396 2397 2398 2399 2400

So, in your revolt.txt, you have 2384 (Puerto Maldonado), near the two provinces that go to Brazil in 1904.

Shouldn't this be also from BOL or it's a Paradox mistake?

Also I finished the revamp in the economic AI of S.A., I will test it in our next batch. Scythe, I also remaped those changes in the *_PAC.ai, of yours (just economic bable).

It's a difference of interpretation, since to make it totally "correct" we would have to change the shape of the provinces in the Paradox map and that's impossible. So, in my opinion, we should leave it as part of PEU. But it's not an important matter, either way.

Well, I was actually going to ask if there was anything else in that file that you could help me with, whenever you have the time. I'm not an AI guy. :eek:o

Well, as said above, I think it should stay in PEU, since they did control the "nearest equivalent" to the province in real life.

Well, I ain't an AI guy, also. It's matter of trying and testing. But sometimes it blows my head.

I see.

Isn't 2384 in the state of Chuncos? If so, I thought Chuncos was the eqivalent of the Brazilian state of Acre, which had belonged to Bolivia before it was ceded to Brazil around 1900. All 4 provinces of Chuncos should I think go to Bolivia if that whole state represents Brazilian Acre.

Scythe,

OHgamer may have a good point, cause those 4 provinces make the state of 'Chuncos'.

Yet they *don't* make the full state of "Acre" according to you (pimparel) and your already scripted and included events, which, with all due respect to OHgamer, I take (or took) to have more authority.

Question solved. Scythe has the ruling.

I would just like to say that you guys are doing a great job. That said, I'm playing a game as Brazil and there's an event where I'm supposed to change from Land voting to Wealth or something - but I've already switched to Universal Suffrage, so there should probably be a check of some sort.

Also, I know that a lot of POP changes have been done, but I'm curious why all the POPs are at 10,000 - it means that they'll never split. Oh well, at least Brazil is more interesting at the beginning.

Thanks!!! Wait for VIP 0.2.

This event is already corrected, last week. The POP's are at 10.000 cause BRZ wasn't suitable to industrialization and they had a low population. The brazilian challenge is to bring immigrants.

And immigration is unfortunately hard to notice - I think. I've noticed that some POPs within a province are slightly different from the others, and for now I'm going to assume that someone migrated and was assimilated quickly. Otherwise, I'm not seeing much, and I've got all the social reforms to their most 'free' (the one time cost ones - the Brazilians have very similar parties that dislike federal intervention...)

Since I'm speaking to 'experts' (especially compared to me) I was wondering abut the nationalistic tendencies in SA. Were there attempts to push the Europens out of the north? How 'close' did the indivdual countries feel to their neighbors - ie Candians and Americans level (we're alost the same) or Americans and Mexicans level (too different)? I know there are differences in the cultures, especially between Portugese and Spanish parts, plus pre-existing cultures, but was there feeling of closeness?

Well, i will talk about Argentina only... here we made the "famous" (or "infamous" for some people) "Campaña del Desierto" (Desert campaign) with the objective of "remove" all the indians that were threatening the cities in the "undeveloped" Argentina (south, Patagonia...)... after that, there were almost no indians left in Argentina territory...
So, all people here came from immigration from Europe, specially from Spain and Italy (more Spain than Italy ;) ), none from indian roots... except some groups in the north that are more related to Bolivia/Paraguay than Argentina... (if some friends of mine read this part they will try to kill me... :D )

Immigration do exist, but as they are assimilated very fast, no one seems to notice it, I've been preaching about a extent in the assimilation time, at least one year, but this is a 'vanilla' issue.

Brazilian parties were indeed vey similar, and still are. :D

If by europeans, you are refering to the guyanas, no there was no attempt against their holdings, but there was a Brazil/France conflict, when France tried to grab a brazilian province near French Guiana, the matter was judged by a Swiss Jury and decided in Brazilian Favor.

About our S.A. neighbors, there was a minor conflict between Brazil/Argentina before the Paraguay War to decide who would be the major power down here. But after the war both countries had a huge deficit, and left their imperialist intentions aside, and turned their focus inward.

Well, like in many things involving South America, the answer is usually the "middle road" (or the mediocre road, if pessimistic).

There were (and still are) conflicting feelings of both brotherhoood and distrust between most of the countries. Most shared a common language and Spanish cultural influence, but regionalist structures and interests, likewise a product of colonial settlement and administration (plus plain geography and differing indigenous heritage ), kept them apart.

Even though the land mostly remained relatively free of major external conflicts (with around 3 exceptions), there was a not insignificant amount of minor border squabbling among nations in this period, and internal unrest remained ever-present.

Still, despite all this, there were certainly moments when people colaborated for a common cause. There was a brief resurgence of solidarity when Venezuela came under threat of British/German armed action due to debts, and it's also of note that Chile helped Peru against Spanish pretensions.

There were also several attempts at reunifiying countries that had previously been united (CLM-VNZ-ECU and BOL-PEU, for example) and an increase in international conferences and diplomatic action near the end of the period. But few, if any, of these efforts were particularily strong nor really enduring.

There was also a similar diplomatic conflict between Venezuela and Britain regarding the then British Guyana too...
