Thats a nice Poland reborn event, but it surely must have heavy consequences, or that fact they'v got warsawa enough for all other majors to allow poland to form, nodoubt that prussia austria and russia must got some"poland trying to reborn" or somethink event to take their actions about this, maybe someone would want to peacefully secede their poland lands to it peacefully, in some b or c choose...

like this-

event = {
id = 32481
random = no
country = RUS
#country = AUS as well, just with proper provinces
#country = PRU

picture = 1848

trigger = {
exists = POL
event = 32480
}

name = "Poland Reborn?"
desc = "Krakow has managed to obtain the old Polish capitol, and claims old Poland State to reborn. This is unacceptable! Arent we must to react somehow on this pityfull try to restore the ancient poland country? Or maybe this is a good time to let free those rebelling poles, without loosing our prestige?"
style = 0

date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1836 }
offset = 1
deathdate = { day = 30 month = december year = 1920 }

action_a = {
name = "Use force to prevent Poland restoration"
command = { type = prestige which = 20 }
command = { type = war which = POL }
command = { type = pop_militancy which = polish value = 5 }
command = { type = relation which = AUS value = 50 }
command = { type = relation which = PRU value = 50 }
}

action_b = {
name = "Let them be"
command = { type = prestige which = -50 }
command = { type = relation which = AUS value = -25 }
command = { type = relation which = PRU value = -25 }
}

action_c = {
name = "Gave them freedom"
command = {type = pop_militancy which = polish value = -4 }
command = { type = secedestate which = POL value = 945 }#it works perfectly
command = { type = removecore which = 410 }#just in case
command = { type = removecore which = 412 }
command = { type = removecore which = 413 }
command = { type = removecore which = 415 }
command = { type = removecore which = 416 }
command = { type = removecore which = 417 }
command = { type = removecore which = 418 }
command = { type = removecore which = 364 }
command = { type = removecore which = 942 }
command = { type = removecore which = 943 }
command = { type = removecore which = 419 }
}
}

so same events for aus and pru only with their poland cores

Option B looks good, C should have at least some content.

But option A looks like a bit too modern. If Poland was to be reborn, wouldn't it start using the old constitutions as a base? I think it would rather have landed vote rights, order as value, no trade unions and state press.

Overall would Krakow alone turn into Poland? Perhaps there might be triggers enabling the event if it owns some provinces more? What about making this event linked to Poland forming, so if it revolts free Krakow would get a chance of inheriting Poland or the other way around with an event similar to this?

My thinking on this was based on the idea that the Polish Monarchy right before its ending was actually quite liberal for its time (having written the 2nd constitution in the history of the world for example) and certainly if the Orleanist regime of France is going to be considered liberal than it should. On the other hand decades under Russian/Austrian/Prussian leadership would have their effect as can be seen by the failure of liberalism in Post-WWI Poland. Besides even before 1792, Poland was heavily dominated by the Aristocrats. I will adopt your changes pending additional feedback.

I agree but it should have ownership of at least one Polish core as a trigger. If Russia no longer has any provinces in Poland then why would they care? A similar event for Austria and Prussia is needed of course. I will find some time to write these up then update my event above.

Where, when, how many? Could you post any links on Finnish minority in Russia, outside of Finlandia proper?
Cheers

Some tens of thousand in St. Petersburg, but IIRC that's already in. If not I can come up with actual figures later this week.

But Russia should not get Finnish culture, it was a new conquest in the start of GC and should be released as a vassal later on after the Polish uprising.

Fellows,
On the USA thread we have made a RUS event that you might want to include on your russia.txt. It reflects the visit of the Russian Fleet to the USA during the Civil War. Feel free to include it in your event files.

Thx,

Also, in the NA thread, we're altering the startup so that Russia has a colonial claim to Fort Ross in California and then the US has events to buy it in 1842, as John Sutter did from the Russian-American Company. It's all coded in our files for the moment, though I can send you the one RUS event.

All right, since this thread seems somehow passive, I decided to script a series of events concerning the January Uprising (two modified files and some 20 new ones) and the reforms of Alexander II. I also prepared a non-tested version of a flag-setting event. Perhaps a good way would be to tie all Old Joe's events to this one so that we could tie all the parts of the empire together. The first version goes like this:
Code:
###########################
#Post-Sevastopolian thaw by Halibutt
#NOTE: most reform events in Russia in the period
#	can be tied to this event
###########################
event = {
	id = XXXX
	random = no
	country = RUS

	picture = alex2

	trigger = {
			event = 2513 # RUS, Crimean war
			atwar = no
		OR = {
			won_war = { country = ENG country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = PRU country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = GER country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = TUR country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = FRA country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = CHI country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = NIP country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = SWE country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = ITA country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = AUS country = RUS }
			won_war = { country = USA country = RUS }

		}
	}

	name = "Post-Sevastopolian Thaw"
	desc = "After loosing the Crimean War, tsar Alexander decided that the best way to
modernize Russia and regain the status of a Great Power, was to ensure peace and order in countries
of the Russian Empire. Initially, he agreed to some minor quasi-liberal reforms. However, a
question arose on how far should these reforms go."

	offset = 15

	action_a = {
		name = "Agree to moderate reforms in Russia" # Historical
		ai_chance=75
		command = { type = setflag which = flg_russia_reforms_medium }
		command = { type = setflag which = flg_russia_noserfdom_russia }

		command = { type = setflag which = flg_russia_poland_dominion }
		command = { type = setflag which = flg_russia_noserfdom_all }
	}
}
Notes:
  • The event should fire only after Russia has lost the Crimean war; I couldn't find a good trigger for that though
  • If you feel that some more flags are needed - feel free to add them
  • First option is of course historical: some reforms firing at a big offset (or historical dates)
  • action_b is designed to trigger more economical and political events as well as avoiding the January Uprising
  • action_c is rather self-explanatory
  • action_d should be a trigger for various reforms making Russia similar in system to UK or latter Austria-Hungary (is 5% chance low enough?). The cost should be enormous, but the events should make up for this. Also, this flags should trigger releasing Poland as either a dominion or a satellite (what's the difference?).
What do you say?
Cheers

  • I'd say remove or notions of other countries and just use the trigger lost war and some Crimean war event, plus being at peace. I don't see why Russia wouldn't have tried to reform if Germany had beaten the crap out of her instead of England.

Constitution and reform choices sound like an excellent idea.

Or even losing any other war. So, a lost war and Alexander II on the throne must suffice. Also, I don't think the event choice need to change Russia's economic reform behaviour much - even under given historic circumstances, Russia squeezed as much from its economy as it could. Economy was mostly held back by political imperfection. Giving Russia additional economic bonuses for going on reformist spree is injust to my mind. Too hasty reforms would do a great job of ruining its economy instead. Oh, and one more thing to keep in mind - releasing Poland as a state (remembering that they are already given constitution in 1805) would surely result in a war with Austria and Prussia, just as being too liberal alone probably would. So, extreme radicalizm shold be punished by wars.

You're absolutely right. How does the trigger 'lost war' look like? I can't see it in the event_commands.txt. :(

It's up to our Finnish friends to fill in this gap in Scandinavia :) Anyone wants to pick up the glove? :D

Apparently there is none, but this might help:

revanchism = { country = [tag] data = X } # X% or more of national provs owned by foreigners

With a low X it might be good, but of course it works only if provinces are lost which often doesn't happen. Could you study it a bit and perhaps make a suggestion in trigger/command suggestion thread in general modding discussion forum, as I think it would be a good one.

The thing is I remember seing one in some event, but can't check it. Well, perhaps I'm loosing it :)

I agree with most of what you say. The war with Austria is, OTOH debatable. Just sit back and wait until I publish the first version of my January Uprising set. I've been working on it for six hours now and it's only 2/3 ready. So far it's more than 900 lines of code, filled with blood, sweat, tears, ink and steel.:) There will be a big diplo game between most of Great Powers as well. ETA is 2-3 hours.
Cheers

You're absolutely right. How does the trigger 'lost war' look like? I can't see it in the event_commands.txt. :(

Code:
won_war = { country = PRU country = AUS }

This is taken from event file of Austria, "The Double Monarchy" event. AFAIK, it works, and I don't see why it wouldn't work for Russia. Just several lines with "OR" listing the most probable war winners with Russia.

Speaking of losing wars, have you guys made an event that triggers if Russia loses the Crimean War? I need it for my Romanian unification event.
Cheers,
Milos

If you'd followed the discussion a bit closer, you'd see that the event discussed triggers when Russia loses a war, starting with ascension of Alexander II; the most probable war fitting into that category is Crimean. You could tie it to this one (though it still lacks an id), or just trigger it in similiar way as we do - using lost_war command.
