The way I did it in vanilla was to load as Great Britain, release Canada, then save and reload as Canada. I don't know what effect this will have on the events for the region, but I think they'll still work.

Difficulty settings?

Haven't been able to find this, does VIP allow for the difficulty setting to be increased. I know with most mods that they focus on balance for just normal but wanted to ask. Thanks.

No. Play at normal/normal

at harder settings the AI gets numerous bonuses and aides that will really imbalance what we set up in the files for the AI to try and do.

So always normal/normal

VIP 0.45 where to download

Dear all,

after over 1.5 years I wanted to play Victoria again and tried to get my hands on VIP 0.45. Unfortunately no working dowload is available. The latest version I was able to download was 0.4b. It would be great if someone who has 0.45 on his drive could make this version available.

Install problem

I download vip 0.1classic, 0.2, 0.2 hotfix and install them. I install 0.1 without problem. but when I install 0.2, it stops about 52 %(message like "it can't creat general tur_XXXX" ) and quit. What's wrong ?

All these files are Windows, compressed executables that have to be run in order to extract the files into the proper Victoria installation directories. Did you simply copy the executables into the Victoria directory? Or did you actually run the files in order to extract the files where they need to be?

After you run the executables, you will see the VIP scenarios listed in addition to the 4 provided by Paradox (which you should never run again, btw, once the VIP is installed.)

If you have run the files, then I can only suggest that perhaps you installed them in the wrong location. :(

Factory enable events?

I've been poking around the event files trying to get a better feel for the process of industrialization. I found the Factory Build events, which are easy enough to find and understand; if the local flag BuildLumber or whatever is set, and other triggers are met, then a nation can get an event that builds a factory. But where are the events that set those local flags? I can't seem to find them, though I'm sure they're there, as I do get the events.

the local flags are set by the discovery of the right inventions which allow construction of those factories, which are mostly found in db/tech/commerce_inventions.txt or industy_inventions.txt in the same file, but a few IIRC are in the army or navy invention files.

Recently I try to reinstall 0.1, 0.2, 0.2 hot fix, but still get stopped at 52% when installing 0.2.
The error message is the same. I don't know whether the OS matters ?
My OS is windows xp and languageis tradition Chinese. Can someone help me?

VIP Features a la carte

Great work on the VIP mod! It is all I really play. Well, except when I get that itch to play as the CSA, then I have to go with that other mod ;)

Well, I'm playing as the CSA and I wanted to use 2 features from VIP in this wonderful Southern Revolution. Can anyone help me on how I can migrate the effects into the SR mod?

1) I would like to have the new election issue events that change the issues for the entire country, not just the state they pop for.

2) I'd like to have the increased Diplomatic Action points as well.

Any pointers on how to do this would be immensely appreciated. I believe the election events are in the db/events area, but I have no clue on the diplomatic action points.

And please don't tell me I can't apply the changes to an exisiting game, because I just won my damn independence... :D

the files you need are

scenarios/vipscen/events/vanilla/campaign_events.txt (for the election events)

and

scenarios/vipscen/events/VIP_DiploEfficiencyBoost.txt (for the increased diplomacy)

since you are playing CSABadass's mod, I'm not 100% sure if he creates a separate event file. My guess is that this should work

copy these 2 event files listed above from your VIP installation into the file db/events wherever you have the other mod installed.

on your savegame, the election event file will be read most likely since there is a same-named file in the original game that the VIP version will overwrite and the savegame lists the event files that the game should continue reading from to fire events. The other event file, however, likely was not in db/events when you started your game so your savegame file will likely not reference it. to fix this you will need to add this line to your savegame file near the bottom where it lists all the event files the game will read :

event = "db\events\VIP_DiploEfficiencyBoost.txt"

save and reload and you should be on your way.
