I have the same problem playing with Portugal. I have a lot of capitalists, with a complete satisfaction of luxury goods, a politic party that should be an incentive to the development...but they don't do nothing!! :(

capis will not build unless their reserves reach a certain amount, which can only happen after they fulfill all their needs, but having them fulfill their luxury needs may in itself not be conclusive enough evidence. You need to look at the rate of reserve growth as well. If your capis are only growing their reserves 1 or 2 pounds per day, it's gonna take hundreds of days to reach the ~1000-1500 needed to build the first factory or railway under laissez-faire, and the cost goes up the more factories you have in your nation (and France starts with approx 28, so add another ~300 to the amount of reserves needed.) If you play under interventionist, double the cost to capis to build things, and if you are state capitalists, quadruple it.

Note, there is an issue for capis in less developed nations, like Brazil, where the game engine seems to want them to build factories that your nation does not have the techs yet for, and as a result when capis do finally reach the amount of reserves needed, they disappear and nothing is built. Seems to be a problem with the exe itself, and the best solution i've found is for players of developing nations to hold off using capis as the primary source of building factories and railways until you finish the second level of railway research. I'd also recommend you as the state building the first level of railways so that when your capis do begin building factories, the productivity levels have improved enough due to better infrastructure that the factories built by the capis will be profitable from the get go, which may not be the case if you have not developed a rail network already. (Note that this is actually historical, as it was the State that took the lead in developing railways in less developed nations in the 19th C, and the improvements to the economy that better transport investment brought that helped nations like Japan industrialize).

Surt: 60 north italian, 33 south italian, 32 north german, 23 french, 20 yankee division the and the rest are smaller division with ppl from my empire. As you see most of them are fro conquered countries. Usually after I conquer a province I demobilize their pops until I fill the RGOs, but still iam left with quite a lot soldier pop. I don't think I ever had a full cit party in power :p

Antiago: I kept a lazies fair (or how the hell is it spelled) party most of the time and I switched to a interventionist one just to expend my money making factories or the prime materials ones so I don't have to import that much and the military equipment factories. It's slow at the beginning but once you get a strong economy you will have hard time to find a way to spend all the cash.
Anyway as I said in my post i build up reserves as soon as they were available and infantry units in batch of 4 as soon as I had enough cash to not go in debt because of the lowered export.
About the events, I think I took all of them except some of the early ones which could place me in war with GB, but in the current situation all the GB and their allies navy is under the sea :) they don't dare to interfere atm. I took all the free factories events and took special care to place them in enough populated provices.
All my other conquers in Europe where the result of guarantees of independence to the countries that were soon to enter a war. For example I gave my guarantee to Austria before Prussia started to unite which resulted in their lose.

I usually go for to be the German Empire, aka i claim those southern parts. Yhe badboy aint that much of a problem since im usally ahead of my neighbours in military power.

It does really all depend on if you roleplay your nation, if u have certain ambitions a.s.f.

Can Germany be united playing as Bavaria?

I am playing a game recently started under VIP Mod R:0.2
Is it worth my time to continue this game or will I still be stuck with my core providences until the end of the game?
There is not alot I can do right now besides research and build industry. The series of interlocking alliances all around me make war suicide and since I have no access to the sea I cannot colonise.


On a secondary note. Does this forum have a search function?
I cannot find one and I have searched for it all over the interface. I hope I am not overlooking it :(

if you accept the German unification it is game over for you. If you reject it, you remain BAY and have to deal with GER having cores on you.

what you might want to is just after GER unifies but before you are offered to join, save and restart as PRU or GER that way you can continue the game.

There is always the possibility in the future that other Ger nations might be given chains to be able to form GER, but at this point this remains undeveloped.

Event chains for at the very least Bavaria and Hannover in the future would be nice additions to the mod. Those are the largest and two most important German minors.

Need help getting Capitalists to make money

I'm around the year 1905 in VIP:Ric and I have an industrial score of around 10,000 as Austria. Taxes for Capitalists are non-existent and I'm subsidizing around $400 in tariffs and yet my Capis still are losing money. Anything I can do?

For now I'm playing the regular Victoria Revolutions as France as I think it runs a bit faster than VIP ( no offense ;) ) and I have started to have pretty good economy :)

Just a strange thing:
Austrian Empire is at war versus the British Commonswealth and Switzerland... The brits are everywhere in northern Italy and it seems that they cannot keep doing resistance for long..
Dunno if to intervane ;)

if they aren't making a profit even when subsidizing, then the only thing you can do is somehow increase export income. Your capis simply do not make enough daily income to purchase all their needs (even subsidized) so you need to increase their daily income by exporting more.

Not a quick solution, but split any and all POPs involved in production over 40K in size (a 30K and 10K pop is more productive than a 40K pop in Victoria), if you can build railways build them to the highest level you can. Export anything you do not absolutely need to keep factories running.

Exception - automobiles. If you produce and export automobiles, remember that your POPs get first chance to buy them, and they pay no tariffs. Try shutting down your auto factory and see if that changes reserve growth back to positive. If it does, keep the auto factory closed until you've expanded your economy in other areas further so that buying automobiles still allows your capis to have a bit left over in reserve.
