Its 1856 in my prussian game & there is a shortage of sulphur on the WM even though it says the supply is 20ish. I'm 3rd place in prestige so I should have no problem getting what I need but I think the UK(1st) & France(2nd) are grabbing it all for their factories. It started to become hard to get after both of them got the explosive factory creation event, I think they both have 2 ex factories. France isn't staffing its sulphur RGO's which does not help at all since they have 3-4 provinces with sulphur. With less sulphur provinces on the map, more industrialisation from the events & more sulphur needed for ex factories aswell as chemicals & then with chemicals tied to so many other factories its creating a big shortage. The US & Peru appear to be the main sulphur producers but its only going to be a matter of time till they get factories in those states & then empty the RGO's so they can staff factories creating an even bigger shortage. Its going to be at least 10 more years before I can get Mainz which has sulphur. There is also no uncolonised land with sulphur(maybe samoa) & since I can't colonise till 1885 this leads me into invading south america which means loads of BB & loss of prestige :rolleyes:

odd, there should be at least 1 worker in the sulphur RGOs, the .exe for base Victoria:Revolutions requires that the Ai keep at least one POP in every RGO. If those RGOs are completely empty, then either you are not using Revolutions or there is likely something wrong with your installation.

I'm surprised by the reports of short sulphur since the beta testers did not report any severe shortages of long duration on sulphur, and sulphur production efficiency was indeed increased for VIP:R 0.2 to deal with the short-term shortages that were found.

I checked again & France has 5 sulphur provinces, all the rgos's are staffed(2 of them weren't when I last checked) by either very small pops or non culture pops. They produce 1.3 sulphur a day but France uses 7.7 sulphur a day. I also loaded up as UK who have 1 sulphur province that is staffed by 1 pop & producing 0.95 sulphur but they need 14.75 sulphur a day. The Dutch are the biggest sulphur producers event though they only have 1 province that produces it & its rgo value is only 2.5, it does have 19 big non culture pops in it & they produce 5.53 and the US produces 5.51 a day.
I have revolutions installed & VIP installed properly. I'm certain now that France & UK are the reason I can't get sulphur off the WM as the WM has 20-21 sulphur available which is just about what France & the UK need for their industries all other countries suffer because of this till the slack is picked up later in the game.

Bavaria

It could be just my current game but I noticed that Bavaria only had 3 factories by 1858 and normally in vicky or ricky Bavaria is quite strong. They often had 10-12 factories & where nearly always a great power until they get incorporated into germany. So I loaded up as them to have a look & they are in debt by £17000, their capitalists aren't able to get above the £100 mark & they have loads of unemployed craftsmen while their RGO's in Munich only have 1 pop each. This can't be good for an AI Germany when it forms unless its just an oddity in my current game.

bavaria shouldn't be an industrial powerhouse pre-1870, so part of the problem is that Bavaria is too strong is base Ricky.

Though why it might be in debt is anyone's guess, it's very hard to trace what the AI does during a game, but in the end Bavaria should not be an industrial powerhouse pre-1870 if AI-controlled, so I see no problem. AI controlled GER seems to have little problem industrializing Bavaria after unification from what testing has shown.

the download link for the Mac version appears to be down. It was up and fine last night (redownloading because I possibly botched the install first time), but is showing "no servers are available with this data on them, try your request in a few moments" message. Is it available someplace else?

I don't have the Mac version hosted elsewhere, but it looks like the issue is simply a short-term issue with Mediafire due to server capacity, as the files are definitely there in their system (just checked and they list them).

All I can say is a bit of patience may be needed as North America enters peak internet use time for the day (Late afternoon-early evening)

Two naming thoughts (and I understand if these can't/won't be done)

1. Can Salisbury be renamed to Baltimore? I recognize the icon does not correlate with Baltimore's location on the map, but it seems that not having Baltimore is a glaring omission from the scenario.

2. Can the state of Rhode Island be renamed Massachusetts? I say this for personal reasons and, in terms of the three-state region in VIP, Massachusetts is definitely the senior partner (population, economy, etc.).

Some advice for China:

1. I don't understand why that the main population of China should be divided into "Beifangren" and "Nanfangren" in origin game... And now even the event to add "Nanfangren" as main culture is deleted... :wacko: In fact, the factries in China at that time is mostly in the south where in game I cannot find a "Beifangren" to convert a single craftman...

2. I don't want to introduce politics here, but at least, Tibet should be a satellite nation of China... Tibet then is more closer to China than Liu Qiu... And China should gurantee independance to Korea and Annam.

3. The Beijing Treaty has some bugs. I do not need to lost all the wars before... Now I can trigger the Self-Strengthening Movement with only one lost war... Well, i like it...

4. China has a fleet called test... as someone mentioned above...

5. Taiping events seems not complete yet...

6. Some general bugs: I can buil capital hull not only alone the sea.

I was playing a few games and I noticed that AI capis seem kinda sluggish when building railroads...up to 1860 in a Japanese game, and the UK capis have not expanded rails at all beyond what the UK starts with in 1836! Other nations are only barely beginning to expand the rails, but pretty slowly.

I checked the UK to see what the problem might be. The Liberal Whigs are in power, tariffs are as high as a free trade govt. allows, and rich taxes are zero...the capis are gaining money but not getting all their every day needs.

I also think the events that give factories early in the game need toned down, for they seem to continually fire, I noticed that the UK got about three events for explosives. The UK it's self had around 9 factories in that London is in, in the 1850s, and although fully staffed, two of the grain RGOs were completely empty.

I had been using cheats in the past two games with sluggish capis though, giving myself items from the WM. This might've been the problem, but I'm not really sure.

Might be something a bit more entailed... 2 AM attempt and no joy. They might have a server misconfig going on or have some of them down.

On 1 we'd not be able to change the map itelf, and changing the name that appears in text might cause more confusion to players that have little familiarity with American geography and wonder where a unit has gone when it says it's arrived in Baltimore but there is no Baltimore on the map.

will check on #2, that should be a pretty easy fix

the split represents the differentiation between Northern and Southern Chinese. And for purposes of game balance Nanfaren are not made national culture, because it makes China too powerful in game under AI control to otherwise have it as national culture.

Keep in mind that if you place a full citizenship party in power, you can convert non-national POPs to other work types.

Again in part game balance - having Tibet as a satellite causes major problems should wars break out, drawing Tibet into conflicts it had no involvement in.

As for China GoI Korea and Annam, AI China will GoI Korea, the human player can choose to do that if they wish, but as GoI's only last 5 years, you need to remember to do it regularly. As for Annam, again it raises problems with events to have CHI GoI Annam, such as the war between Annam and Siam over Cambodia's future.

3. The Beijing Treaty has some bugs. I do not need to lost all the wars before... Now I can trigger the Self-Strengthening Movement with only one lost war... Well, i like it...

Will check on Self-Strengthening, but it makes sense that it should only evolve in wake of defeat in 1858. Probably need a flag to make sure it only fires in wake of the Beijing Treaty. The fleet issue is resolved for the next hotfix.

6. Some general bugs: I can buil capital hull not only alone the sea.

Care to elaborate on #5 as to what is missing?

On 6, that isn't a bug, in the sense that we had to convert another factory type that can be build anywhere to have capital hulls built, and as the limiting to sea states elemetn for steamers and clippers is set in the .exe alone, we can not make capital hull factories seashore state factories only. So yes, you will find on occasion that capital hulls might be built far from the seashore, but there's not alot we can do about it.

this is a known issue, and one that has to do with the game engine determining preferences in building depending on what nation the human player is. With Japan and Russia, for reasons that are still unclear, the game engine concludes that the best use of capi funds is to build more factories to fill national and world demand for goods rather than build railways. Why it does this is unclear, and we have found that if you change your nation to being governed by a Laissez-faire party, the start of the next month often sees a boom in rail production in countries like ENG and USA. Weird behavior that we can not pin down a cause or cure for.

As for the RGOs, if you are playing on Revolutions the .exe is supposed to keep at least one POP in RGOs at all times, odd that there should be 2 provinces without pops at all.

Using cheats for resources though might indeed warp the market calculations further, though, so that may be compounding the problem further.
