VIP-Prussia, advice needed

First of all, how to get more iron? taking Göttingen from Hannover didn't help me... My plan is to build Steel Mills as they seem to be rather profitable and steel is usefull in general.

Also, does anybody know any neat advice how to stem the Russian tide? They actualy outteched, or atleast outmoraled me in the first Svelsig war. Also, is it common for them to garrison what seems to be the entire Russian army on the border?

Warmongering. Should I go around with all guns blazing or maintain peace as long as possible?

Oh yeah, how many nasty events I should except when playing with VIP-Prussia?

Go for the conservative empire unification event. You get it in 1850 or 1852 (i'm not sure) you'll get it if all german minors are monarchies or constitutional monarchies. You'll survive to that point just by getting yourself powerful allies and not getting in to wars (unless you're going fo annexation of a german minor that has given democracy up, or agains uncivilized countries)

Iron should be plentiful on world market. If it's not, go for the african minors that have iron provinces.

I just did a Prussia/Germany game in VIP. In the slesvig war i simply launched everything against kopenhagen (since there's an event to end the war), Russia didn't have enough time to strike against me. With Denmark out of the way, it was time for the german minors and austria. One of the minors was already a democracy so no chance to get CE event. Just mobilize and position armies _inside_ of austria, then break alliance and declare on a minor (NOT on austria). This is cheap, but hey... it's war! Austria will join the war and your armies will siege away
I satellited Austria and took silesia and the rest of bohemia-moravia from them. The rest of the german minors had no chance.
France declared war on me sometime after that, but i beat them to pulp... since i was allied with UK
and all that before 1860
was only on normal/normal though

There was a thread about this recently.

When the game starts, attack Hannover. Satellite it. Then, within a year or two, declare war on a minor German state with "exception Prussia" in its alliance with Austra. Annex one-province states, satellite the rest.

Boom, iron. You'll also probably get the conservative empire.

From the beginning of the game, try to keep Russia friendly.

Russia allied with Denmark is bad. Avoid.

You know... I WANTED to attack Austria I just like the oppurtunity to make an easy peace with the minor i DoWed instead of austria if my attack gets stuck.
Austria has so many South German Pops... don't let them go to waste

Right at the start DOW some German minor that has defence pact with Austria that excludes Prussia. Annex all except Baden, Wurttemberg and Bavaria (after that I usually give them back the provinces needed to complete a single state and keep the rest). Hannover should get an event in 1837 where they become allied with you, so I wouldn't bother with them (after all, their ally before that event is UK ).

As for iron, there's plenty of it on the WM, or you can go for Korea, Sotho, Brunei, Johor... but with all those countries that you've annexed in the beginning, your prestige should be at least 800, so you can get all you want from WM.

Accually, the reason that they become reactionary/anorcho-liberal/communist, is their high militancy. R/AL/C are just militant forms of conservatives, liberals and socialists in the game.
