It was 100% open in 1892... The school was part of my final paper at uni...Emre Yigit said:2. Does the Mekteb-i Aşiret date from 1892 or 1896? (I honestly don't know but read different dates in different sources.) And wasn't it closed down (and hence will the effects be partially reversed in another event?) in 1907, its buildings being used from 1908 by that pillar of Istanbul education, Kabatas Mekteb-i Idadisi.![]()
I was working on an Ottoman University event as well... (plus some similiar events for Iran...)Emre Yigit said:3. If we're doing a Mekteb-i Aşiret event, why not a Mekteb-i Sultani event (1868)? Though no supporter of the red&gold colours, I would argue the latter was rather more important. And either a Darülfunun-u Şahane event (1900) or Istanbul Darülfununu event (1912). I think one should skip the aborted experiments started in 1845, 1863, 1870 and 1874.
Alevis... what do u think they should be represented as... they were an important section of Central and Eastern Anatolian society.....Emre Yigit said:4. Alevis as extremist Shias? Too much propaganda for too long can apparently seriously skew even academic thinking. Good for A-H II!
They are an ancient kingdom in Anatolia and we are damning them for the fact that they were the first in history to mint coins as an economic tradable.Emre Yigit said:1. Why are we "Damning the Lidyans {Ed: Who they?}" in event 279105?

Thats what I thought as well.....Emre Yigit said:For want of another religion, Shiites I suppose. Keep the Pagan description for the Yezidis.(Ducks!)
Oh yes, that's clearly the reason. But really, it may be a modern flag (it IS the 2004 proposal), but it's certainly better than using the Blue Ensign for a fully independent Cyprus (or even worse, the satellite of anyone but the UK!).Emre Yigit said:5. I guess they went with the Blue Ensign since the flag with the island and foliage is a modern one, whose creator hadn't even been born during the Victoria timeframe, and I have no idea what the other flag is (though it looks a bit like the 2004 flag proposal, only rotated 90 degrees)

My comment on the long list of events proposed would be: please consider that the OE played by a human from 1836 might have not need for some/any of these events.... and don't make it too deterministic.
How about an Ottoman event for a debt commission in the event of near-bankruptcy?
