From the Knowledge Base:

"type = pop_dominant_issue which = [religion/ideology/culture/workforce/cultural_majority/cultural_minority/religious_majority/religious_minority/X] value = [new issue type] where = [prov id] # X is a percentage of the total POPs. The "where" field affects whole State of prov id."

So 'which' is percentage X, and 'value' is the new issue. Yeah it can be confusing since you'd think of value as a #. :) Oh, I edited the Texas file to make sure my Alamo event had the Mexico controlling San Antonio trigger. Coming along strongly now! I can't wait to try the full files out!

I edited my Alamo event so it just fired on the date, regardless of who controls San Antonio, since there are Texas troops in San Antonio to start and since the Treaty of Velasco usually fires before AI Mexico invades.

However, having the event switch control to Mexico is not historically inaccurate.

True enough. I was thinking it'd be cool when Mexico physically takes San Antonio and sets it off. :) The Treaty of Velasco is such a nice touch.

If anyone has corrections/ edits/ whatevers to be done, post them to do.

Any of the Big Four event files are now so large I can't just copy your edits in one go. I would have to copy in sections to notepad, then to wordpad to avoid getting formatting crap in the file. :D

I'll be able to give it a try tomorrow (Friday) night.
Guys--ONE important thing. When you do the ACW, I need you to look at balance. See how the AI is fighting the war and if I gave either side too much (or not enough) so as to imbalance the war. My basic approach was that the war, if run by the AI on both sides, should end with a USA victory before 1866.

An aside to that, are we coding the secession event so that it can happen after the 1860 election, or only the 1860 election will cause the war? I'd prefer that the war could happen at any election from 1860-70 but it is up to you.

Hmm, I had understood that the compromise again event meant that secession was merely deferred for 4 years, etc., until 1868, and would likely cause New England secession if the USA kept giving in to the South? Is that coded in now or was that an idea you were planning, Aragos?

Speaking of New England. This is of course, after the first submission, but I've been jotting down notes for a New England package of events, to give it some life. Just some basic stuff, but as I grew up in Massachusetts, it's dear to my heart. :)

The Treaty of Velasco (when San Jacinto is modded so that acceptance is first choice) is most excellent. It allows a historical start to the GC for Texas.

The Caribbean Alliance isn't in yet. Do we have the event of buying Cuba and Puerto Rico yet? The Ostend Manifesto event of buying Cuba doesn't seem to be the one it should link to.

Should we change the trigger in Carib Alliance to "owned = [Cuba/PR]"? That appears to be the only stumbling block to including it. Then Carib Alliance could fire after Ostend, or a Span-Am War or by just buying the provinces.

I used his latest version from this thread. (It's a version he wrote after initially saying he was going to can it.) I've looked it over and it looks ok. I haven't tested it yet.

Should we change the trigger in Carib Alliance to "owned = [Cuba/PR]"? That appears to be the only stumbling block to including it. Then Carib Alliance could fire after Ostend, or a Span-Am War or by just buying the provinces.

I like the approach of changing it to "owned = [Cuba/PR]". And I like the event too. It should be included.

I'm thinking of modding the Mexican Border Tension USA events to apply to Texas, but I'd need to specify something that sets a border tension flag. Any thoughts on what that should be? (For the U.S. events it's set by Mexico refusing to sell the western NA states. Would Texas have tried to buy part of Mexico had it survived, as we're having U.S. and CSA do? Perhaps Sonorra, etc. for the Pacific access [since Texas often starts with New Mexico when using the Velasco events, all that would then be needed is Sonora], similar to what we're having CSA do?)

Another thought I have is that we could mod the CSA buys Sonorra events to include a tension flag if Mexico refuses the deal, and then add tension events for CSA allowing the possibility of a war if the purchase is refused. Does this appeal?

Would an independent California try to buy Tijuana?

Achiles has some Texas immigration events that were historical but failed due to the add_pop bug. The events could be modifed to cause the life rating in the various provinces to rise, rather than using add_pop. But does a higher life rating actually cause increased immigration? (I know I've seen it cause increased population growth, but that ain't the same thing.)
