I'll post my suggestions for a few major things tomorrow. (Mainly regarding Mexico and America and war, :))

Tomorrow, I'll post other various ideas about things that need doing in America.

Yep. Unfortunately, I'm a lowly non-beta, so I would appreciate it if someone would PM/post the US event list. :)

I don't think Jeno or I can post them yet without breaking the NDA. :D

Maybe an interested player from Scandinavia can do that...?

Yep yep, hence why I name not any specific events I plan on making. Tomorrow, us Beta types can speak out more, :) So it'll get better.

Some Events that Paradox probably doesn't have:

-The Tariff of Abominations and the Nullification Crisis (if we start earlier)
-The Trail of Tears
-The Farmer's Alliance and the Populist Party
-The Railroad Strikes of 1877 (and the St. Louis Commune ;))
-The Morrill Tariff (and its relation to the Civil War)
-The McKinley Tariff (and the Depression)
-Jim Crow (and the reaction to the Populist Party)

I know one of those is in, I wrote it.

Well, we're going to be busy in this thread, I see, which is good. I think we should get an outline of the timeperiods and types of events we can introduce for the United States and for the CSA. I'm thinking:

1) Antebellum (1836-1860)
2) Civil War (1861-1865 and maybe beyond)
3) Reconstruction (1865-1876)
4) Gilded Age (1876-1900)
5) (1900-1914) - can't think of a name
6) WWI (1914-1920)

Within each category we got Political (elections, debates, political parties), Social (temperance movements, abolitionism, Know-Nothings, Mormons, etc.), Economic (inventions, railroads, canals), and Military (tech, generals, war events).

My copy doesn't arrive until next week so I'm not sure what exactly is in the game. I think Aprof and Jeno can take the lead on this.

I can help with Canada events! Our chunk of NA surely deserves discussion. But would pre-Confederation stuff go here or with the UK?

And can someone tell if there any Canadian events in the base game (names would be nice too :) )? I'm guessing Riel and friends are in since there's the Metis tag. But since Mexico only has 1 flavour event...

Hypothetical events for Texas and CSA should be considered here, too.

aprof, loved the AAR btw, since it appears you have taken charge of NA, exactly how far do you want to go with the hypothetical events for Texas and the CSA?

Do you have an alternate history event process planned, or something else?

I don't see any reason why not to go all out with regards to alternate history for the CSA and Texas. I have in mind movements for protectionism/industrialization, abolition of slavery, and movements towards social freedom - trade unions and so footh, as well as imperialism in Central American and the Carribean.

Ramo, that is what I was thinking also.

I see a still existing CSA in contention with the US, if the US still controls say Kentucky. Also moving into the Carribbean, perhaps with an attempt at subjegating Haiti first. Perhaps if the US goes for the Panama Canal a CSA attempt at the Nicuragua canal of its own to balance the US.

Texas if contesting territories with the US (assuming they get them): New Mexico, Arizona, and any territitories that would make up Texas proper.

Texas contesting territories with Mexico: Any territitories that would make up Texas proper, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, and port along the Gulf of California. Perhaps border provinces and states also. This is assuming that Mexico controls those territories of course.

Actually, I think that the CSA should have claims to all of the border (slave) states.

And I don't think Texas should have all those claims on Mexican lands. I don't think that's justified.

The CSA definately should have claims to border states. For example Missouri was in a state of chaos at the time even before that along the border with Kansas (events can be done with this). Have events where Missouri and Kentucky have the possiblity of seceding as well, also it would be historical to have a strong risk of rebellion like Quantrill's raiders of Missouri (note:James brothers were in the group) where if revolt rises to a point it automatically revolts to CSA. I did see somewhere where the American Civil War results should also determine how Canada is formed as well.

Texas should have as claims the areas that made the Texas annexation of the US which did include parts of what became New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorodo, Oklamoma, and Kansas I think. I'm not sure how provinces are divided in the game so you might have to see how it works.

Also are there extra country tags in the game as well for if we need to add possible other nations as well and how many are there? Someone brought up the St. Louis commune and got me thinking that it could be part of a possible Missouri revolter which could also appear as a possible result of the civil war where a choice #3 as succesion could be to secede but only be allied with CSA instead of join. That and there were tecnically during the civil war two Missouri governments since the state was under martial law at the time and the Gov. Claibourne Jackson formed a succesion governent in Neosho which is in the southwest corner of the state.
