Hi, I read the whole thread. I'm happy that people are treating this so seriously.
Anybody consider the possibility that the small states just shouldn't be involved in the war of 1848, even though that's unhistorical? Would it be such a big difference?
Anyhow, How do you represent the 1848 revolt in Rome being put down by the French? Perhaps Papal States should be a French satelite if they lose the war with Austria?
Also, what about if of all the capitols: Milan, Venice, Rome, Naples, Frienze, and Turin, get occupied by rebels, then randomly SP or Naples inherits ALL Italian cores , and Italy becomes a democracy, and Austria declairs war on italy? This would represent the possibility that Mazzini's revolution had actually succeded and his more extreme Italy born. Of course you could combine it with high revolt risk or something.
