Yes, we are. The said event does trigger sometime aroune the forties, provided you won the war: you will become spain.

I have done some testing.

It would appear to me that the civilizing chain/events in Vip:R 0.1 are currently nonfunctioning; that is to say, an unciv still requires 100/75/25 to become civilized, rather than using the event chain.

I do not know whether the techs/required inventions are being used, but I waited ten years to get an event civilizing my country, and nothing happened. I then proceeded to use the console and boost my military score from 8 to 26 using event 24017, and the civilizing event triggered the following month. (My prestige was 110 or so, and my industry around 140.)

the events for VIP:R are located in scenarios/VIPscen/events/vanilla/civilize.txt not db/events/civilize.txt. The event file the VIP scenario eugs refer to takes events from the files in VIPScen, not db

If you are playing a scenario that begins with "VIP" in the name, you are plyaing the ViP scenario. If you are not playing one of the scenarios with "VIP" in the name after applying the VIP download, you are playing a modified version of the original sceanrio which will not work because there is no rubber in the game (rubber is added in VIP by event only). And you will still be under the old civilizing rules as well.

Thank you for the quick response, OH. It may very well be that I accidentally forgot to click the VIP scenario and left it on the default.

On the bright side, I now know where the VIP events are being stored, so I can take a look at what's precisely required. Thank you.

Immigration to Brazil

I know this is probably the most worn out topic, but...

I can't, no matter what, raise to a substantial number immigration flow to Brazil. What am I doing wrong?

Playing in Revolutions VIP, my strategy is as follows:

1) Since parties in Brazil suck, i.e. liberals supporting slavery, I install a more immigrant friendly Presidential Dictatorship, which does allow a trickle of immigrants to come by, opposed to none at all under liberal rule.

2) I try to research techs allowing for an increased plurality early on, reachin 35 to 40%+ within 10 to 20 years into the game.

3) Industrialization. Big Time. I promote a capitalist early on in the most populous regions and in São Paulo (my home state :p). Still, just a trickle of immigrants, even with whole industries totally empty.

4) When slavery is abolished, I move towards a democratic rule, under a liberal party which is intervencionist, secularized, full citizenship, anti military.

I guess that's basically it... And even though some immigration does come by... well... is not nearly enough. And nowhere near the proportional rate of immigration to the US, not to mention Argentina!!!!

Any help is most welcome!

thanks OHgamer. But let's say I'm going to start a colonial war against the indian tribes in Northern Amerika and annex some provinces. Will this mean, even so I, as Prussia for example, will loose them again, when the events come up, or do I keep them and only the remaining tribal provinces go to the US or Cannada?

When you declare war to the indian tribes (and I think aborigines as well) you get war with their masters -USA or UK- and a peace treaty with the tribe after a few days that you can't refuse. So you end up with a colonial war with UK or USA and no chance to get any tribal land out of the war.

The biggest factors for immigration are

1) Plurality - the nations with the highest plurality in the Americas get the most immigrants

2) national value - nations with liberty as a national value or equality as a national value get more immigrants than those with order as a national value. Unforunately the only way to change national value is via revolution (or the very occasional event)

3) Social Reforms, things like health care can be magnets for immigrants

4) RGOs with high value goods, like gold. IIRC Brazil might only have a couple, whereas the USA gets several during the course of the game.

Brazil can be a magnet, others who have more experience with Brazil should be able to offer more advice, but these are a few starting points to consider.

Strange, I just tried this with Argentina. I declared colonial war onto Nez Perz in North America. Of course, I now was at war with the USA as well. But after getting a few provinces from the tribe, I was able to make a peace deal with anexing 4 provinces of the Nez Perz. After that I was still at war with the US, but I could offer them a white peace and that was it. I did not loose the provinces I got from the peace deal with the Nez Perz. So I'm not sure if I understood you correctly when you say that there is no chance to get any tribal land out of the colonial war?

He's mistaken, you can get provinces if the NatAm does make a separate peace, you can even annex them if you occupy all their provinces, and USA might very well white peace.

BUT if it selects manifest destiny early on, you will have US-owned cores. If the US ever gets to your border, expect a very combattive AI opponent.

keep in mind that they are inventions, so their firing time can be a long delay if you are a new and small nations with little prestige.

I'm away from my computer at the moment (200km away) and i can't really check anything but i remember that I have tried to DoW the tribes and i just got the auto peace treaty. Is this something that applies for some countries ,big powers only?

in VIP:R 0.1 there are events to force peace so that the native American minors do not get sucked into American wars.

Unfortunately, there is no trigger to see if the NatAm was the original victim of the attack, and the bigger problem is having the NatAms being drawn into US wars, not on ahistorical attacking of NatAms, so these events will stay.

are the POPs building reserves?

if yes, that means that there is not enough supply on the WM to meet their needs, that is not a problem for you, though you can alleviate it by increasing export of the goods that they can not buy so they can meet their needs with local production (which they get to buy first from the WM). In general though if they are getting part of their needs filled that is not an issue politically, you may not get the full negative MIL decrease from the POPs being able to fill their everyday needs, but no positive MIL increases will result.

if no, then it means the cost of those goods are higher than the incomes your POPs receive from your daily exports. If 0 taxes and tariffs still do not resolve the issue, then you must increase your export income so that the POPs make more each day. You can do this by expanding producion in factories, converting larger POPs to work in factories, improving railways, and researching industrial techs that help increase factory output.

no, the pops arent building reserves, my export income is huge and i actually have large stockpiles of goods that im selling at 10 units.
all of my factories are turning a profit, except for the steamer factory, which is costing me money (which i dont understand, since steamers are expensive and i provide all the resources for them domestically)
thanks for addressing my problem but im still confused as to its causes/solutions
