I just combed through every folder in Victoria, (VIP and not) and cannot find my VIP savegame files. I want to go look through it so I can edit down the badboy I've gotten from the Unification of Southern German states under Austria (done by event). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Immigration

I've been trying to promote immigration playing as the CSA, year is around 1895. I looked on VickyWiki for suggestions, which said socialist parties and social reforms help. So I was able to manipulate the elections to get Socialists in power. Reforms wise, I have acceptable minimum wages, 12 hour work day, acceptable safety regulations, low healthcare, no subsidies, and trinkets for pension funds. But I am still not getting any immigration into my country.

So my questions are, is immigration different enough in VIP to make the wiki suggestions not useful, and if so, what should I be doing to promote immigration?

considering the wiki was likely written for 1.03C conditions, and not for VIP under Revolutions, there may indeed be differences.

what is your plurality. Plurality is one of the biggest factors determining where immigrants go.

And have you gotten rid of slavery? Having slavery dramatically reduces the attractiveness of your nation.

Plurality is at 94.2% and slavery has been abolished.

just comment out these line in the VIPscen.eug file

include = "scenarios/VIPscen/events/events.txt"
include = "scenarios/VIPscen/events/events_flavor.txt"

that way when the scenario loads, no events will load.
True, but I mean a specifically designed scenario. I suppose not much designing would be required. But like removing any other limitations vip has implemented (blocked colonization etc.). And I don't know, some people may not know how to do that or may not feel comfortable. Also why not just replace the VIP lite scenaro with a no event VIP lite. I never understood the advantage of the VIP lite scenario anyway. Does it run faster with less events. I didn't think that there were that many. Are there any other advantages?

Load up as America and see what its reforms and plurality are. Also, it -may- be possible that the CSA doesn't have the 'Americas' immigration bonus. Also, what is your ruling party and what kind of rulers do the main European countries have?

Need help with CSA

Haven't played VIP (RIP) for quite some time, but now I feel like starting a new game. I never played as CSA since RIP has only the Grand Campaign start date. So I need some tips and hints as to how to best start as CSA and how to choose it, meaning which country should I choose first to play and later switch to CSA?

Thanks

I don't think that which country you play the opening years as is not that important. What is important is that you have your message options set to pause the game and inform you when a country declares its independence, or whatever the message indicator is, so that when the CSA forms, you will immediately know it. Then you can save the game and restart as the CSA. See?

Unless you want to stack the game in your favor, then you want to play as the USA and sabotage them. :D

I am in the middle of a colonial war with the Cherokee and the US in 1876, when the event An Apology from Spain pops up. I have no idea where it came from, but I am going to assume it has something to due with the events leading up to the Confederate-Spanish War over Cuba. However, nothing about the CSS Arkansas exploding or anything like that has occured, and this has really surprised me.

Odd will check on that

edit : not sure why it would trigger, the event that sets it does not even start to be checked until 1894, and i do not see any events other than that one that trigger the CSA Spain Apologizes event.

very odd.

thanks Lee. But what about choosing Texas first? Won't it be incorporated into CSA by event? If possible I can grab some provinces from Mexico. Is it actually possible to survive the Mexican war as Texas. Just had a quick look at them in the beginning and Texas' manpower and standing Army looks real tiny compared to that of Mexico.

Edit: Just was wandering, was the problem when the CSA reached victory and the USA still declared war every few years solved in VIP/ RIP?

I'll need to look at it, there were new events to ensure CHE remains US satellite in case internal revolution hit CHE, but should not happen with that CSA event.

too many events, sometimes things get forgotten when new content is added.

Just checked this, and the event that triggers USA re-establising satellite over CHE includes that CSA must not be allied to CHE, so I do not know why the event triggered.

I really have not even thought of that angle. However, if you are playing as Texas, being incorporated into the CSA is offered to you as a multiple choice question, I do believe. I am guessing here, but if you choose to be incorporated, won't you "lose" the game? ;) I don't know if you will have the option of saving the game after "losing". Perhaps someone else who has done something similar can enlighten us. (hint, hint, hint) :D
