Here is the image of just after when the treaty should historically fire (feb 1848).

I thought it might be the gamespeed so I restarted, and the above screenshot is with the replayed game at medium speed, so I'm obviously still having the same problem (i was extremely sloppy financially since I just wanted to get it done, but I did manage to get the same provinces out of the deal).

Yeah, in all my games california revolts from some seperatist movement (starts with an A), but I've only played through 1855ish 3 times.

Thats what that brownish nation with 4/5 provinces in california is.

edit: in this current game they are a satellite of mexico, having lost the war when mexico declared war after the revolt.

I'm getting my events mixed up between Vanilla and VIP. VIP is more difficult than Victoria

In VIP what you need as human USA is to be at war with MEX, TEX not exist, and at least 10% of Mexico must be occupied (something like 4 or 5 provinces). If you accept peace early, VIP does not have a G-H treaty just for winning the war, us must fight until MEX throws in the towel. If you accept MEX peace feelers, it will prevent G-H from firing. G-H in VIP only fires if USA and MEX are still at war.

The trigger for the event checks once every 30 days so you need to hold at least 10% of Mexico's provinces for around 2 months for the event to trigger.

So at this point, the solution if you want to get G-H is to DoW mexico again and take 10% of its provinces or more and wait, then the event will fire.

(the event is 304301 in VIP_USA.txt in scenarios/VIPScen/events)

will need to look at the chains to figure this out. The prestige loss is automatic, and in the end French intervention is ahistorical, so there is less need to balance prestige since the mod is designed with an eye to encourage historical behavior, not ahistorical. France promised in the earlier event to uphold the agreement to resolve the issue peacefully, if it then chooses to back the Egyptians against the British and Turks again after having already agreed to a cease fire, it should suffer the consequences.

Not sure which event you mean by converting pops into French???? What was the name of the event?

And to make algeria a state, before you start the game change the listing in the .inc file for France's colonies so that the algeria section say colony = no instead of colony = yes

Thanks OH :O)

Hmm, yes that does makes sense now that I think about it again.

Can't remember the event name atm. It was something about spanish and italians in Algeria merging into the french settlers. It didn't have a 100% tranformation rate on every culture though.

I really wanted to tap into the 90 such population "rating" in algeria for my factories, but I cant unless it's a state. I personally think I've made all the choices that would integrate Algeria into France, so it's just a technicality to me.

Edit: Yes, thats before it starts though. I wanted to edit it as is right now, and thanks to your suggestion I found the place in the savefile :)

Ah, well I had most of mexico occupied for a few months in all 3 games (the california provinces are ~20 warscore each, so to get them and texas you need most of mexico) so the check time on that should probably be upped. Most of my army was cavalry though, so I might have blitzed them too quickly... I'll try again and just occupy w/o accepting peace, and go after the baja in a later war.

hmm odd if you occupied the provinces you for more than a couple of months you should have had it trigger. Be sure you are playing at no more than moderate speed and that you are saving and reloading every couple years.

Also you chose to accept Manifest Destiny, right. If you reject it, it sleeps the G-H event and you'll never get it.

Yeah this game was the fresh restarted one where I made sure the speed was set on one of the medium settings, and I definately accepted manifest destiny.

But I probably needed a restart anyways since I took the voting reforms off wealthy, there was no way I was going to get the republicans elected with 70% conservative population ;)

Austrian Unification with Southern Germany

Well I was able to crush Prussia in the Austro-Prussian War and I took the Austrian Empire choice, which led to be annexing a few South German states. Unfortunately, Bavaria and Wurttemberg did not accept unification, so there is a ring of Austrian territory around those two states.

So, I am just wondering what are the exact prerequisites that the South German states use when they make a decision on uniting with Austria? I didn't exactly have great relations with either Bavaria or Wurttemberg, so I see why they probably didn't join me, but I'm just curious.

Strictly odds - the ai_chance for them to reject is set in the event, and IIRC it's basically 50:50 accept/decline.

what relations are is not taken into consideration. and given the behavior of the Bavarian and Wurtemmburg states to the calls for unification from Prussia, the idea they would simply accept the end of their separate exitence and being integrated into the Habsburg lands would have been low (the Wittlesbachs in Bavaria spent centuries fighting the Habsburgs to prevent just that fate for Bavaria).

Ok thank you, not as complex as I expected, but their decisions still made sense as neither of them were involved in my Austro-Prussian War anyway.

Btw, I heard there is some form of event chain for a war with France to get Alsace-Lorraine as Austria after victory in the Austro-Prussian War. I am currently at war with France and I have been while I was fighting Prussia, so I am wondering if this current war with them could effect this Alsace-Lorraine event chain.

IIRC you will likely get the option to DoW France after you make peace with PRU. But if you are currently at war with FRA, it will not fire, will require a separate war.

new players and VIP

I have recently got Victoria (including Revolutions) and after having read all the required material have played a couple of games (haven't actually finished one though). Is it better for me to get more experience on vanilla or should I move on to VIP? I would imagine the former is the better option but VIP does seem to make quite an improvement on the game overall, and I am quite eager to start playing it, but at the same time realize that I have to take it slowly with Victoria. So what do you guys think?

the VIP developers really recommend that you feel comfortable with the basic gameplay principles of Victoria:Revolutions before jumping into the mod. It adds a lot of content for the player to deal with that, if you are still trying to master the basics of keeping your economy afloat, can become a major distraction.

IIRC you will likely get the option to DoW France after you make peace with PRU. But if you are currently at war with FRA, it will not fire, will require a separate war.

Ok, this is really weird. I finished my victory over France and forced them to cede Alsace-Lorraine, and then suddenly France declares war on me again after I have demoblized! Then I see the event that France declares war on me to prevent me from gaining leadership over Germany. All this after I had occupied have their nation and effectively destroyed them, and now I have demobilized and I really can't afford to mobilize again!

IMO, a really good idea

For all you Rev Heads, Thorgrimm has done so so much work on his RoN (1792) mod, is there any possibility (which would be absolutely lovely) merging his project with yours for the .3 release of VIP? .2 is due out soon, so can you, in all your patience, merge the two works??

VIP does start off in the historic year of Vicky's beginnings of 1836, but it doesn't mean you have to stick with it.

but it doesn't mean you have to stick with it.

OHgamer's responce: Yes, we do. THREAD CLOSED.

But seriously, can this be humbly considered by the VIP team??
