Italian Unification Doesn't Work

I just said "no thanks" to the Cavour event as France. Why? Because the war wouldn't have worked...Modena, Parma and Tuscany were not allied to join Austria in the war. Tuscany is even allied to Sardinia. It hasn't worked the two times I've played VIP.....

Modena, Parma and Tuscany will not join Austria in a war, they will get event to accept the inevitable and then they will be annexed by Sardinia. Then you and SAR defeat Austria, trigger Treaty of Milan to get Sardinia control of Lombardy, then finally wars with 2 Sicilies and Papal states. Seize Naples, and Italy forms.

As you are France, the first set of OR clauses will be what you need to deal with.

Austria declares war on you via event after the Plombieres treaty, Austria still owns the 3 Lombardy provinces, and at least one of them has to fall under SAR control (since you are allied to SAR this means they will be occupying the provinces in any case). When that fires, AUS has option to either surrender and give up Lombardy (historical choice) or keep fighting (ahistorical).

War with 2 Sicilies will follow soon after with the Garibaldi expedition event for Sardinia once Naples is occupied, or SIC reaches a certain war exhaustion, 2 Sicilies throw in the towel. Then italy should form for Sardinia.

Note this is for VIP for Revolutions.

OK, I went back to an autosave and it worked...sort of. Sardinia did get the smaller states, but then it came to taking out the PS and 2SIC. SAR had enough troops to steamroll down the Boot....


But chose instead to play a shell game. Back and forth. 10,000 into the PS, got throttled while there were 40,000 SAR forces just SITTING to the north. Rinse and repeat in N 2SIC. Garibaldi crossed Messina, took Reggio....and JUST SAT THERE!!!! :mad: I finally said "F**K this!!!" PS offered WP, I took it. 2SIC offered WP giving Reggio to SAR, fine, great, I'm sick of this B.S. If SAR wasn't serious about uniting Italy, then I'm NOT going to watch my W/E climb while they act like morons.

I am playing now USSR and Bolshevik party has “Residence” policy in 1921. I do not know if this party will change the policy or new communist party will appear but if not then it is not historically correct IMHO.

I already have Byelorussian as a national culture but I think I should have at least Ukrainian as well especially if Bolsheviks have only “Residence” policy. Otherwise it is impossible industrialise Ukraine as I can not convert Ukrainian farmers and labourers to Craftsmen and Clerks. Of course I can reallocate Russians from other regions but this is not a historical course.

So, the USSR must have Ukrainian as a national culture, or at least Bolshevik party must have Full Cit policy at least from 1927.

Well, you are allied with Sardinia, right. Most of the times when both FRA and SAR are allied and both AI-controlled, a French force is needed to bring about the end of 2 Sicilies

Sardinia still have an angry as a hornet Austria to worry about - hence the leaving of troops in the North, and since they are a smaller nation, war exhaustion hits SAR faster so troops tend to be kept by the AI to keep internal control. And then of course there is manpower, even with the new acquisitions, the AI is terrible at getting its manpower act together for reasons that are still unclear.

And in the end, it is artificial intelligence. While we can attempt to program it via the AI files to try and accomplish certain goals, other hardcoded concerns means it does not fight wars with the efficiency of human players.

Especially when human players are made aware that all they have to do is occupy Naples and the war ends.

Seriously, if you want a hand in the birth of Italy, put 7-8 divisions on transports and have them land in Naples. take it over. End of 2 sicilies as events fire for the end of the war, and then the birth of Italy.

No, you occupy their lands and events will fire ceding all but Rome to Sardinia or Italy and making the rump Rome province a French satellite, replicating the Protectorate France established over the Pope in 1860 to mollify French Catholics.

VIP GC: Lenin/Russian Revolution

Can anyone find the events in VIP:R 1836 scenario that deal with Lenin and the Russian Revolution? I've looked through the VIP events for Russia, but for some reason I can't seem to locate the ones dealing with this issue. Mods, feel free to merge this with the other Russian Revolution thread, but I didn't feel my question was likely to be answered since that thread hasn't been active for a little while.

OK one more question about dumping supply on the WM... suppose you take a look at the 'resource overview' screen in the ledger and see that demand = 'X'. If X = 139 for example, and I sell an amouunt equal to (or preferably just under) that, is it possible that the price reduction may be curbed upon my selling?

C'mon guys, help me out here - this is a vital part of the gameplay... we need to fully explore options that will lead to maximum efficiency... :D

  2. VIP does not really model that era of the game due to the fact that the game will have gone so far off course at that stage that the events will no longer be relevent.

Indeed Russia is way to weak.It seems they need protection in the crimean war from the Ottomans ;)
In my current game in 1894 they have still 19 divisions :(
