Can I ask why not just make one hotfix rather than 2?

My Vicky Ricky Vippy (lol) is running without errors - Im waiting for one big install file

Not sure what you mean by rather than two

Hotfix 6 for Victoria:Revolutions is designed to help all players of V:R - those who play VIP and those who do not.

Hotfix 6 for VIP:R is for players of the mod alone, and is not intended to be used by those who do not play VIP.

The two are for separate games in that sense, one for base Revolutions, one for the VIP user-made mod. And they should not at all be combined, since they service two different groups of players.

Now, if you mean why have VIP:R Hotfix 2 and VIP:R Hotfix 6 separate, one simple reason - the size of the files. It becomes a lot less problematic for downloading if the downloads are smaller in size. Thus 2 hotfixes to install for VIP Players after they install the base VIP:R 0.1 mod : Hotfix 2, and then Hotfix 6 on top of Hotfix 2.

And there are no plans to combine all of the VIP:R Hotfixes into one file at this time. That will come when we eventually release VIP:R 0.2 (which I will guestimate, no promises here, will be ready around the New Year or shortly thereafter).

It was merged, as the problem was resolved and fixed in Hotfix 6. See posts 1142 and after in the VIP:R 0.1 for Victoria:Revolutions 2.01 - Discussion and Bugs Thread

In the end, it makes organization of this forum much easier if posters would place their questions in one of the main VIP:R threads (discussion-bugs/gameplay-strategy/technical issues) or in the various regional threads as outlined in the sticky VIP - Rules and Usefull Information **** READ THIS FIRST ****" .

Yes, there are stickies on this forum. I know nobody reads stickies, but they are there for a reason ;)

In the end, once an issues is dealt with or no longer the subject of active discussion, it is merged in with its proper thread, in order to keep this forum organized and tidy.

VIP Opens Beta Testing to New Applicants for VIP:R 0.2

The VIP Development Team is opening the beta testing program for new applicants as we begin the process of developing VIP:R 0.2 for eventual public release.

Members of the Beta Testing Program for VIP:R 0.1, please check in at the Beta Tester Subforum in the VIP Forum At Terranova if you have not done so already. If you can not access the Beta Tester Subforum, please contact OHGamer via PM.

VIP:R 0.1 Beta Testers who do not post in the check in thread in the Beta Tester subforum by 1200 EDT on 24 Sept 2007 will be dropped from the Beta Tester program.

New applicants not originally part of the beta tester program, please PM OHgamer to signify your interest in partaking. We are looking for testers who are comfortable with Victoria:Revolutions gameplay mechanics and preferably familiar with VIP:R 0.1, are able to complete at minimum one full GC every two weeks and provide detailed feedback regarding problems and issues they discover during their gameplay.

Preference for selection will be given to posters who have actively participated in discussion in the VIP forum here at terranova and at the Paradox Victoria forums. Those who have modding experience with Victoria or other Paradox Games should indicate in their application any work that they have done.

Applications should be sent to OHgamer via PM either via the Paradox PM system or over at the terranova forum. Applications will be accepted until 1200 EDT Monday 24 Sept 2007, after which time the application process will be closed.

Does that mean if I write alternate history events, I might still have a chance to have them put into 0.2?

Oh definitely we are no where near ready for public release of VIP:R 0.2 and I'd say you'd have until early Dec 2007 to submit material for VIP:R 0.2.

There will just be no further hotfixes for VIP:R 0.1 since it would mean splitting files so that they would be compatible with both 0.1 and the testing in 0.2, creating all sorts of opportunities for things to get lost between the two versions.

But submissions for 0.2 are definitely being accepted now and for the next couple months.

How to play Texas?

I'm desperately looking for some advice how I can play Texas withot getting my butt kicked.
My industry goes nowhere and my territorial expansion is quite the same.

I just know how to get Dallas (by event in 1839 from the Cherokees) and with a lot of luckyou can buy albuqueque and santa fe from mexico through an event.
But what about El Paso, Amarillo and Lubock (and Roswell in New Mexico)? Can I get those provinces without dowing cherokee and thus the US?

To the mods: If this thread is in the wrong part of the forum please move it where belongs.

The events are in VIP_Cherokee.txt in scenarios/VIPScen.

If texas is still independent, it can gain lands from the Cherokee via event in 1850 (texas Panhandle) and 1855 (El paso & Roswell)

that being said, playing Texas in VIP is VERY difficult and not really a good country to try and play for newer players of VIP.

Here, here. Tried it yesterday and found it possible but difficult (and i have been playing for 2 years now). A good idea is to form the navy (with clippers) and go invade Hati or one of the Central American countries, just for population size (therefore manpower). If you can get US backing (keep up good relations with them) then you can take more and more off Mexico. Perhaps you could sell the odd tech to Spain or Portugal for money so you can expand you industry, but the one lumber mill you start with is more than you should be asking for until the 1880's.

I never played VIP, or VIP:R, but my question is mostly about internal pop migration. My question here relates mainly to the US, as many areas in the midwest that had HUGE population explosions usually end up with 5-10% of the population they historically had. It is actually my biggest complaint with Ricky... I was wondering if VIP:R managed to fix US immigration so we don't have 100 million people sitting in california, while the midwest remains completely unpopulated.
