I thought the error might have been mine, since the hotfix I dled included no installer so I just moved the files manually, I must have screwed something up. Is the issue with the Farrapos War related at all, or is that a separate issue?

Farrapos war would not be causing the new nations not to appear. Those are based around the files config/world_names.csv and db/country.csv and both those files have been the same since at least Hotfix 2.

The important thing is that all the hotfixes have to be manually set to download in the location on your harddrive where one keeps Victoria. If you do not change the target yourself, it will apply the hotfixes into another set of files completely separate from where you have VIP installed, and that might very well be causing the errors.

No installer - did you download the .zip version for MAC? the version for PC has all the files bundled into an installer as described above.

So forth and so on getting British India in nice little chunks with cores on them for the low nationalism and once the chain is done you have an event that fires saying we have all of india under our rule blah blah blah and loose the cores.

Actually I'm testing giving ENG cores then annexing it as suggested above. It would be even more odd to have EnG have part of IND while the rest remained under Raj Viceroy rule than having ENG deal with a restless IND.

Right got your point OH just saying its hard to see just turning the switch and POOF all India is now under crown rule. The idea of the sectional turn over is that it simulates taking over a state at a time.

Btw how rare is the crown rule thing anyways? In my current game as Austria it happened.

I said nothing about the Farrapos War creating new countries, I was saying that the event is supposed to make the Piratini begin building a cavalry unit, and it didn't happen when the event fired. The other stuff was me messing up the install. I probably did get the mac version with that, but I'm surprised the game would run at all in that case.

it can happen in one of three circumstances

1) the b-choice to what britain decided IND fate will be after the 1857 Uprisings

2) if IND breaks alliance 3x during a game, the territories auto-return to the direct rule of ENG.

3) if IND is in a war and loses control of 45% of its national territory

it should not be a common experience, but maybe like 1 in 20 games just based on the b-choice for #1.

in my master copy that element is commented out. May have been causing problems with the conduct of the war and was commented out in a previous version of VIP.

So it did not build the cavalry because the command was commented out with a # before it

Okay. I just realized what I did! I accidentally dled the VR hotfix and pasted THOSE files into my VIP! I'm an idiot.

Did you have VIP:R 0.1 with a previous hotfix work correctly on your system?

Vanilla Vicky/Ricky worked fine, I can't remember if VIP:R worked before the hotfixes but my inclination is to say yes. I remember posting my approval of the new capital symbols, but can't remember if those came with Revolutions or VIP:R

civilized = no
prestige = 10 #must have positive prestige
military = 6
literacy = 0.0020 #20% literacy rate
technology = 1402 #army professionalism

Ah gotcha, is there any way to increase RP gather rate for a Human? The events/inventions I've found were all for the AI.

The events in VIP_AIRPHelp.txt actually work for both human and AI-controlled nations, they are AI in the sense that they do not spawn an event box, but fire in the background. If they only fired for AI-controlled nations they would require the line ai = yes in the trigger.

but you should be getting boosts to RP generation as you cross the various literacy thresholds. If you want to increase the rate further, convert more pops to clergy or clerks OR edit the amount of increase in pop_research_mod for the various workforces from their current 70 to something higher (100 will double the base rate of whatever your POPs would produce, 200 would triple, etc. we found that 70 is a good rate and with a nation like china you should be able to civilize by the 1890s-first decade of the 20th C).

The problem, Neitzsche, is that at the end of the chain, with German peoples united under Austria, Austria can have as many as 50 badboy points, even when she had none going into the chain.
At that point, it's nearly impossible to do ANYTHING without getting a declaration of war from all of the Great Powers, Prussia included.
Like I mentioned before, I began to colonize when Africa opened up to me, and within days of declaring colonial war on a minor African nation, every great power in the world decided that they needed to declare war on me.
Sure, I could win it, being a military and industrial powerhouse with all that German land, but it's not like kicking everyone's ass is going to LOWER my badboy score. With peace secured, you still have a hefty BB score, so as soon as your peace treaties run out, you get DoW'd again.

Germany doesn't face this problem when she unifies.

The ahistorical chains are not as developed as the historical ones in VIP.

the historical chain has a reduce badboy element in the event, the ahistorical Austrian victory chain doesn't.

the VIP developers have focused most of our attention in the last two reworkings on balancing the game environment with the new economic models (remember, Victoria 1.4 was a radical overhaul of Victoria 1.03C, and Revolutions is a major overhaul of 1.4, so a LOT of time had to be spent on retrofitting VIP to these new environments).

Beyond that, focus is on historical event chains.

The ahistorical chains will be worked on...eventually. However, at this point given the limited number of volunteers who actually code and the mountain of actual history still left to code, the decision has been made to concentrate on the historical elements first. Ahistorical window-dressing chains will be revisited as time permits. In the end, VIP is focusing on the historical environment, and players that play ahistorical may not have as polished a gaming experience as those who play historical. Hopefully by VIP:R 0.4 or 0.5 that will no longer be the case, but for now, unless volunteers want to begin the work on overhauling existing ahistorical chains, work on them will be a secondary consideration.

then you get the Austria forms new German Empire


you all speak of full german unification, I thought this was only possible with prussia or has VIP covered this with a new chain of events?
