I thought the error might have been mine, since the hotfix I dled included no installer so I just moved the files manually, I must have screwed something up. Is the issue with the Farrapos War related at all, or is that a separate issue?

OHgamer said:The downside to that would be that it would make ENG even more resistant to peace deals when it is losing, because it will value the Indian provinces much much more highly.
I suppose one could argue that it was the Jewel in the Crown, BUT not sure if gameplay wise that would be considered a good thing for players not playing ENG.
But would be worth testing to see what the impact is.
Azkor said:How about something of a compromise. If ENG goes a-historic and chooses crown rule let them annex british india in stages. I dont know if you ever played the CORE mod for HOID but they had a nice effect on the sudetenland where germany would get the sudetenland in stages. You could have as parts of that something like:
event:xxxxx
ENG gets XYZ territories and they are cores
fire: xxxxx+1
event:xxxxx
ENG gets PDQ territories and cores
fire:xxxxx+2
So forth and so on getting British India in nice little chunks with cores on them for the low nationalism and once the chain is done you have an event that fires saying we have all of india under our rule blah blah blah and loose the cores.
Azkor said:Right got your point OH just saying its hard to see just turning the switch and POOF all India is now under crown rule. The idea of the sectional turn over is that it simulates taking over a state at a time.
Btw how rare is the crown rule thing anyways? In my current game as Austria it happened.
Archaalen said:I said nothing about the Farrapos War creating new countries, I was saying that the event is supposed to make the Piratini begin building a cavalry unit, and it didn't happen when the event fired. The other stuff was me messing up the install. I probably did get the mac version with that, but I'm surprised the game would run at all in that case.
OHgamer said:Sounds like something did not install correctly. Would suggest a complete reinstall, since this is not an error being reported constantly by users of the mod.
Did you have VIP:R 0.1 with a previous hotfix work correctly on your system?
OHgamer said:you have to have positive prestige to have civilizing fire via the generic event, if you've declared bankruptcy that might have made you negative.
Dysken said:I have 150 prestige 100 industry and 26 mil score and yet the event just wont fire.
civilized = no
prestige = 10 #must have positive prestige
military = 6
literacy = 0.0020 #20% literacy rate
technology = 1402 #army professionalism
technology = 2402 #naval professionalism
technology = 3302 #market structure
technology = 3102 #ad-hoc money bill
technology = 5302 #early railway
invention = 486 #ministerial government (requires techs 4103 and 4303)
OHgamer said:In VIP:R this is what you need to civilize :
Do you have all those techs and has the invention fired?
And note, the invention does not begin to be available until 1860
Dysken said:Ah gotcha, is there any way to increase RP gather rate for a Human? The events/inventions I've found were all for the AI.
OHgamer said:The events in VIP_AIRPHelp.txt actually work for both human and AI-controlled nations, they are AI in the sense that they do not spawn an event box, but fire in the background. If they only fired for AI-controlled nations they would require the line ai = yes in the trigger.
but you should be getting boosts to RP generation as you cross the various literacy thresholds. If you want to increase the rate further, convert more pops to clergy or clerks OR edit the amount of increase in pop_research_mod for the various workforces from their current 70 to something higher (100 will double the base rate of whatever your POPs would produce, 200 would triple, etc. we found that 70 is a good rate and with a nation like china you should be able to civilize by the 1890s-first decade of the 20th C).
Dysken said:Yeah I had a second look and what you say is true. I also like the fact that you have balanced China somewhat. Well done!
OHgamer said:Wait til VIP:R 0.2, when (fingers crossed) the Taiping and Boxer Rebellion mods will be finished and incorporated.
If you think China is a challenge now, wait until you have the Taiping set up their own state and challenge your dominance for control of China.![]()
If 'Austria creates Germany, she's inheriting both the masses of industry and such...
unlike a Germany unified by Prussia the Austrian unification leads to massive BB wars.
then you get the Austria forms new German Empire
