In my first (real) VIP game as China, it's 1917 and Germany, UK have gone crazy! They have military rating: GER - ~650 (most infantry), UK ~900 (ships)

I am, thanks to my massive insutrialisation (ind score 305) a great power. I am also uncivilised, and I am also the vassal of the dutch, as I accepted their letter and opened up my ports. Now, two post-Meji events (shinto, and Edo as capital) have fired, yet, there is not a single sign of Meji itself firing.
WAD?

I have to say I'm doing far better then the first time I tried this however Texas never offered to join me and naturally I've not gone to war with mexico due to event either, although california joined up nice and early.
I think mine might be due to events firing that gave me massive low relations with texas that I never thought to alter as I assumed that texas went to join me per event no matter what. I say those smuggelers I caught really helped finacially though.
Also he civil war hasn't started yet but the whigs are still in power so I assume that might be a factor as well. I think I might roll a new game and see if I can't sort some of this out.

I'm playing as Spain in the VIP scenario for Revolutions. The problem I have is that my capitalists are not doing anything for their country. At first I managed to turn around 3-4% of the population of each state into capitalists and they started building factories and railroads like crazy. However I noticed they stopped building factories, and then once I researched early railroad they no longer upgraded the existing railroad network, so I'm underdeveloped in 1880 with a laissez faire government and an experimental railroad network and no modern factories. Taxes for the three groups are 20%, tariffs as high as I can (with a free trade government), voting rights are set to wealth (though I changed it to universal to see if there was any difference and nothing happened), workers have no social rights... What is happening? What can I do?
Mindmeld_me said:Out of curiosity, what are the triggers for texas joining the union and when should they fire. I don't know how to read the code in the txt files or I would do so. : ) I know most of the time it leads to war with mexico which works for me since that means money from them.
