I'll keep this short: after playing a few great conquests as Germany I annexed Tunisia and released them as a dominion. Then, around 1880, suddenly almost all of their provinces are seceded to France's reign. It was most annoying because I had beaten France in continous wars down to the 10th rank. I opened the event files and realised this happened due to the Tunisian "The Bardo Treaty"-events. So I made Tunisian events id = 278041 (The Bardo Treaty) and id = 278042 (The Bardo Treaty causes war for France) inactive, loaded the savegame and the problem was solved.

Should it be changed so, that these events won't trigger if Tunisia is a satellite/dominion of some other country than France?

will check - probably need to expand the trigger further to deal with more ahistorical potentials. (germans in Tunisia in the 1880s :confused: :D )

In my game the USSR formed around 1910. I have same bug? USSR has no flag. No unit flags, no flag in the main USSR nation window and no flag behind Lenin at the exit screen.

If the Bolsheviks subsequently lose power to a non-communist party, the result is the lack of flags as there are currently no-noncommunist flags for the country tag being used for USSR.

Working on a fix for that - should probably have the USSR change back to RUS if this is the case.

Playing as CSA (handsoff as Hawaii until cessaion), changed to presidential dictatorship and got another flag. 20 years later switched back to democracy, but did not get back the original CSA flag.

did you change back via event, reforms, revolution??? How you change I think plays a role in whether the changes are enough to change the flags.

Well, step from democracy to presidential dictatorship was through election, step back was through reforms. Both times I got the constitutional change event.

Pity I didn't get the default flag back, it looks alot better...

I don't think the game engine restores default flag, the events restoring the constitutional govt do not include a change flag command. Would probably have to make new flags for when constitutional government was restored and include command to go to new TAGconstitutional.bpm flags.

Another 400+ flags :wacko:

Hmm, but you still need unique events for basically all countries then, since some are democracies by default and some are monarchies etc.

I'll start off by saying I'm having terrific fun with the game. I finally got around to getting Revolutions for Victoria and it makes everything so much more enjoyable seeing those capitalists working things out on their own.

After doing a quick runthrough of USA to get the hang of Revolutions, I picked up VIP:R 0.1 and am using Hotfix #2 and 3.

I'm playing as Austria, doing my best to maintain the monarchy. I crushed the rebelling Italians, finished off the Danish crisis with Prussia picking up Holstein, and (with generous support from the Prussian and Russian events to give Austria infantry divisions) brought Hungary back into the fold.

Britain asked me to join the alliance during the Crimean War, which I agreed to seeing as how Russia was more than tied down in Romania and Crimea. Again, I was quite pleased that I didn't have to occupy >25% of Russia because the Treaty of Paris event fired giving everyone a status quo peace treaty (preventing the usual British outposts in Baltic states in vanilla Ricky).

The day finally came when Prussia claimed leadership of Germany, which I contested, of course. With a larger mobilization base and the defensive alliance with most of the South German minors, we managed to win the war after a year and a half. An event fired ending the war with Austria regaining Silesia (nice touch).

A new event has popped up asking if Austria wants to reclaim the German Empire or something like that (other choices being forming the satellite SGF and a third one I don't remember). When I reclaim the German Empire, I get national territory 'shields' on most of the south Germans (some capitals were excluded), but only one south German state (Nassau) fires the event asking if they want to join Austria.

Prussia did annex a couple of the smaller states during our war. Is this event supposed to fire for only one south german state and the rest I'll have to satellite on my own or is the event tripped up because it's looking for states that no longer exist?

Thanks for any assistance into this issue!

No event to end the war, however if you win and hold at least one of the 3 E Texas provinces (Houston, Austin, Dallas) the Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty event will fire, offering you the chance to buy California & New Mexico at fire sale prices (as historically happened).

So the goal as US is to force Mexico to lose and give up at least one province (say in New Mexico, S Texas or California) then let the event chain do its magic.

I'll need to take a look at the chains, it might be that PRU annexing someone threw something off.

There are right now no events that start ww1 but it in progress.

WWI is currently NOT in VIP - the mod at this point goes up to ~1885 in terms of the major European geopolitical structures. As the mod develops over the next couple versions, we will be at the point where the buildup to WWI will be structurally possible.

Had VIP not had to spend the past year and a half or more adjusting, then readjusting, the mod to deal with the dramatic economic changes brought about by the changes from Victoria 1.03C to Victoria 1.4 and then from Victoria 1.4 to Victoria:Revolutions 2.01, more time would have been available to work on the events leading to WWI. However, the dramatic nature of many of the gameplay changes, combined with the small number of full time VIP developers, meant that most of our energies had to be devoted to harmonization of what existed to the new game environments, not expansion of the historical plot lines.

So at this point, all I can say is stay tuned, hopefully in VIP:R 0.2 or 0.3 we'll have reached a point of development where an integrated, game-structurally sound WWI will be included.

yes, it does become rather intricate to determine what exactly would be needed when you reform back, since what your reform to may not be exactly the same as the original political condition you start with.

Will need to think on this further to see if some sort of "compromise" can be developed.

AI cheating?

Is VIP's AI cheating?
In my first (real) VIP game as China, it's 1917 and Germany, UK have gone crazy! They have military rating: GER - ~650 (most infantry), UK ~900 (ships)
I loaded the game as GER and was amazed to see that they can`t support there army! They have ~4000 industry rating, export ~3000, income -3000 all the time! They are like that, many years now (maybe like 10-12 years)
They never run out of money, they underfund there social projects, they have poor taxes to 100% and they don't have much dissens.

UK is like GER, but with little better income. UK, FRA, USA did not build railroads?!?
Only half of Africa is consumed, more then 50% of it is still native.

I realy need to now is this normal? Other AI counties are OK, they have real numbers, stats... but GER and UK.. please..

I as China have 11500 industy rating (probably low for Chine, but it's my first game, civilized it in ~1905), 9000 export and I have 380 military rating (I can afford a LOT more) but my armies are outdated and significantly(sp?) cheaper to maintain.They constantly build more and more units...

I dont stand ANY chance against UK and GER. with Chine, Russie, FRA, USA or any other nation if this is normal?

P.S. Great mod, great events, great concepts - I'm playing VIP for Revolution+ 3 Hot Fixes for VIP and ~6 for vanila.

VIPR: Meji and the dutch

Situation:

Japan, march 1868.
I am, thanks to my massive insutrialisation (ind score 305) a great power. I am also uncivilised, and I am also the vassal of the dutch, as I accepted their letter and opened up my ports. Now, two post-Meji events (shinto, and Edo as capital) have fired, yet, there is not a single sign of Meji itself firing.

I've had a similar even come up. Been playing a GC with US and I'm in year 1861. I have to say I'm doing far better then the first time I tried this however Texas never offered to join me and naturally I've not gone to war with mexico due to event either, although california joined up nice and early.

I think mine might be due to events firing that gave me massive low relations with texas that I never thought to alter as I assumed that texas went to join me per event no matter what. I say those smuggelers I caught really helped finacially though.

Also he civil war hasn't started yet but the whigs are still in power so I assume that might be a factor as well. I think I might roll a new game and see if I can't sort some of this out.
