You would still have the events from the basic game (after a couple lines edited) that could be used in tandem with the economic changes, the problem is that with the new nations added you might have events in the oriignal game try to fire and cause CTDs.

Yup, and those new nations are another reason I can't go back to Vanilla. Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it. VIP is too complicated in a way to just cut-out what I don't want. :(

All of Slovakia is non-core for Austria, but core for independant Hungary.
Slovakia is the string of provinces east of Bohemia-Moravia

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I've been unable to download the VIP patch - none of the 0.3 or 0.4 patches seem to be available. Is there a working link? Generalissimo's doesn't seem to be up.

Popular unification is expensive in Badboy

Wow, trying to annex all those German minor that still are monarchies to be sure that the popular unification events happen cost a lot in Bad boy!!!!

This is what I think I will try to avoid those BB.

Fist of all I declare war at the German minor at the beginning of the game. I will satellite every German minor and negotiate a full alliance with them (maybe except the German minor in the south). I will received a lot of prestige by sateliting them all.

Next step, I ill declare war on Austria early in the game because I want to annex him some provinces and have the peace treaty expire before the Italian revolution. The provinces I will annex are Linz, Ried and Sant Polken, so I will have a direct access to his capital. This will be useful for the years to come. I will try war indemnities if possible.

Then I will declare war on Denmark and control his offensive so he can occupied all those German minor that are allied with me. I’m hoping that Denmark is going to annex them and after I will satellite Denmark, receiving back all those provinces, preventing me from having the entire bad boy from annexing a single province state. Denmark is going to have the bad boy points. There is some German minor that I will protect, those that usually become Con Monarchy or democracy so the popular unification will happen (Oldenburg, Bremen, Anhalt).

I will try to control is expansion so he can annex as much as he can of the German minor.

After that I will wait for Italian revolution and declare war on Austria. Because of my direct land contact with Wien, I will be able to satellite Austria as quickly as I can to be sure that Venetia and Lombardy will survive because satelliting Austria will stop his war. I want them to exist because I don’t want to have some badboy point, when the popular unification will happen, because they will be part of Austria (I’m not sure about this).

The same advantage will be useful when Hungary will declare his independence. I will be able to send expeditionary forces to Hungary and occupy Wien for them, accelerating the peace between them, so Hungary will be independent.


That way Im hoping to lower my badboy as much as I can.

sounds like a plan. please tell how it fares. I'm about to try the conservative empire aproach in next game. anybody got any tips ? should I try to avoid the liberal revolution or ride it out with increased military ?

The liberal revolution can be avoided if you make some reforms.
Dunno the exact for VIP.
Just make the usual German minor war and leave all minors that already is democracies.
It's nice to get prestige and free divs ;)
satalitte the big ones and give them money so they'll institute reforms.
The bad thing is the counter revolution that happens alot.

Unfortunately that is not possible. The way the engine works is that the costs are set based on the base experimental railway, and then each level above experimental raises the cost IIRC 50% from before. The only way would be to set experimental railwys to require electrical gear, and that is just not going to work since E-G doesn't become available until the 1870s.

Similar with the dragoons, you can not add new requirements via event regarding the needs for a unit to construct them. They must be set at the start of the scenario

It would have to be >0.000 so one would not be able to build any railways until even 0.001 E-G came on market in this scenario, and that will just not work.
