OK, played it finally. Excellent stuff.
Couple of questions/comments, maybe this stuff is intended, maybe not.
British India - I noticed they got some high population Indian states there, which you can build factories in. In previous versions you couldn't make Indian provinces states (well, I never saw enough Brits emigrate there anyway), is this a good idea, giving the Empire all these POPs to industrialise?
While on the subject of British India...
Sepoy Mutiny - very cool. Full marks.
AI - the East India company is evidently pacifist or something. They didnt do any invading and satelliting, in the end Russia owned everything down to Panjab while BEIC just watched (with an enormous military).
While on a similar subject, is there some way to get the BEIC to help out the mother country when the mother country declares a colonial war? It'd be nifty if the UK could direct the BEIC's actions somewhat by colonial warring on the likes of Afghanistan and the BEIC being made to do likewise. ATM you have to station UK troops in India to do what you want, and anything you annex goes to the UK instead of BEIC.
I must say though, overall I think the BEIC is a brilliant addition. Love it. So only minor nitpicks/suggestions.
As for the United Kingdom itself - damn. I thought the UK was badass before, its even more badass now. Despite what I said above, when British India is actually fighting alongside the UK, nothing stops these guys. I had hordes of Gurkhas helping me out turning Brazil red. And the money you get off the BEIC... wow. It paid for my colonising almost everything. The French only got a tiny chunk of north Africa, I managed to bag most of the Sahara. I was absolutely swimming in loot the entire game. Oh, and the increased value to the Opium Trade event was very nice too.
USA... I don't know what you did to the poor yanks... They only managed to get serious industrial muscle going around 1880, and even then, it was a bit feeble compared to usual. As of 1890 they were third place industrially, and about sixth place overall. Is this an intended result? I noticed that as of 1880 ish the USA only had a tiny handful of early railroads, most of the USA was at the experimental railroad level. (It makes things more interesting than the usual Russia = #1, USA = #2, UK = #3 listing anyway, so not a complaint, merely an observation) And no ACW. Though Deseret declared independence and got squashed, if that counts.
Is this stuff intended? if so, cool. The game struck me as balanced very differently from the previous incarnations of VIP, though. Britain is definitely a winner in 0.3, and the USA definitely a loser.
