download it from another location... probably you got a corrupted file.Cro-Magnon Man said:Hey, I tried to install VIP v0.3 onto Vicky 1.03b, and about 20% through the install, I got an error saying:
It's doen the same thing several times in a row. Anybody else have any similar problems? Will VIP run without it? How can I fix this?
thanks for the report... i solved that problem last week, you will find the solution on the 0.3B patch...berhaven said:As can be seen from the log, what happens is basically:
Krakow DOWs Austria
All Austria allies enter war, including sicily
Then LOM and VEN declare independence
Then SIC goes with help our brothers and LOM + VEN become SIC allies.
Now I guess the system blocks VEN, LOM and SIC to go to war agains AUS.
When I go with Help our brothers I find myself on the wrong side of the war.
My suggestions:
Force AUS to refuse help from allies when DOWed by minors (I'm afraid it is not bossible)
or
Have AUS dow Krakow/revolters instead of them DOWing AUS
or
Have soem kind of additional check in help our brothers events
you got that badboy because of annexing BEIC... you shouldn't do that...Pafka said:When I played England and canceled alliance with BritIndia i got a massive badboy level from annexing the country. must be fixed

There aren't many TAGs available to use, so any historic country has more priority over a non-historic country... sorry for that, but we have no other solution.Comrade Alex said:While I agree historically an idependent Kurdistan was not really possible it is an interesting idea.
There is a clash of thinking here with regards to Historical/Ahistoric events and Vicky...
I love the work the VIP people do - its a rare and satisfying feeling to come away from a game knowing I've actually learnt something along the way (the machinations of Napoleon III as an example).
I also love the possibility to see what could have been (Japan as a great power with Korea & China asorbed into the Asian Tiger was fun).
So while the urge for greater historical accuracy is a good thing there should also be the possibilty of going down a completely new path.
Therefore I'd actually like to see Kurdistan and Iraq as possible revolters of Persia. The OE creating Kurdistan as a buffer state is an intriguing possibilty - and I've seen UK end up taking southern parts of Persia as well (which could revolt free or be made a British Satelitte to annoy Russia). It also makes taking the path to civilisation more dangerous since Persia could tear itself apart. The flow on is of course the chance to script events for the interaction and possible reconcilation of a divided Persia area.
Thoughts?

Windmolen said:I would like to plead for a tag for the (Dutch) East Indies.
Untill 1798 the whole of Indonesia was controlled by the VOC (United East India Company). In 1798, the Batavian Republic (as Holland was called then) took over all debts and belongings of the VOC. On december 30th, 1799, the VOC was officially disbanded. The Batavian Republic set up the "Raad van Aziatische Bezittingen en Etablissementen" or "Council of Asiatic Possesions and Establishments" which would govern the Dutch East Indies. After the loss of Ceylon the council was named Raad van Indie, or Council of the Indies.
From this period onward East Indies were, IMHO, in the same situation as British India is handled now in VIP.
The East Indies was governed by the Governor-General (representative of the Crown), who directed Residents (dutch governers) and Regents (local native rulers), who in turn directed either Dutch or native officials. The Governor-General was advised by a cabinet. The East Indies had an official capital (Batavia) and had control of it's own army and navy.
In 1916 they also got an own parliament, although it had no real power. They were an advisory council for the Governor-General.
OHgamer said:Depending on how the tags fall I'd love to add a couple more native Indonesian states (my top two would be Banjarmasin in the SE of Borneo and Makassar in the Celebes) and reduce Dutch holdings further so that more has to be colonized.
OHgamer said:The only issue with a DEI tag is would it be able to colonize the balance of the islands on its own given the cost of colonization in Vicky. Unlike India where all the land is already governed by other states in Indonesia there will be quite a bit of open space that will need to be colonized. Perhaps have HOL do the colonizing and then have transfer events would be possible. An area that will need a good deal of testing in this new period but defnitely I think a DEI tag is a possibility.
they are already in the game:White Russia said:What about Latvia, Estonia, or Lithuania?
I like the idea but i doubt we will be able to implement it...OHgamer said:I quite like this idea, and am thinking about a whole reworking of the Indonesia region for 0.4 as currently the Dutch start out holding way too much territory directly. One of them should do the colonization... if not we will end with states half colonized by HOL and half by DEI... making them imposible to claim.Windmolen said:This is also my concern. We could let both Holland and DEI do the colonizing. Possible HOL colonial buildings could be transferred to DEI once they're finished, while we also give the DEI targets for colonisation.

Look at BEL, no matter how much help we gave them, they cannot colonize the Congo... imagine HOL, without the colonies, trying to colonize the Indonesian area...![]()
