Hmm, I'll try and find the part in my history file, I'm playing a new game as the UK just now, will that have changed my history file at all? I haven't actually qiut vicky since starting, but I have saved.

Hey, I tried to install VIP v0.3 onto Vicky 1.03b, and about 20% through the install, I got an error saying:

While I agree historically an idependent Kurdistan was not really possible it is an interesting idea.
There is a clash of thinking here with regards to Historical/Ahistoric events and Vicky...
I love the work the VIP people do - its a rare and satisfying feeling to come away from a game knowing I've actually learnt something along the way (the machinations of Napoleon III as an example).
I also love the possibility to see what could have been (Japan as a great power with Korea & China asorbed into the Asian Tiger was fun).
So while the urge for greater historical accuracy is a good thing there should also be the possibilty of going down a completely new path.
Therefore I'd actually like to see Kurdistan and Iraq as possible revolters of Persia. The OE creating Kurdistan as a buffer state is an intriguing possibilty - and I've seen UK end up taking southern parts of Persia as well (which could revolt free or be made a British Satelitte to annoy Russia). It also makes taking the path to civilisation more dangerous since Persia could tear itself apart. The flow on is of course the chance to script events for the interaction and possible reconcilation of a divided Persia area.
Thoughts?

I found a way not to get a CTD with plain old VIP 0.3, if you just annex the Central American countries before 1858, the event doesn't come up.
Sorry if this has been said already, but it works (I've tested it) and you know Central America does have some...good resources, so why not?

As can be seen from the log, what happens is basically:
Krakow DOWs Austria
All Austria allies enter war, including sicily
Then LOM and VEN declare independence
Then SIC goes with help our brothers and LOM + VEN become SIC allies.
Now I guess the system blocks VEN, LOM and SIC to go to war agains AUS.
When I go with Help our brothers I find myself on the wrong side of the war.
My suggestions:
Force AUS to refuse help from allies when DOWed by minors (I'm afraid it is not bossible)
or
Have AUS dow Krakow/revolters instead of them DOWing AUS
or
Have soem kind of additional check in help our brothers events

I had the same problem to and i noticed it happened when i downloaded Vip of my own ftp.Seems the file on my mirror has an error wich is strange as i tested it earlier and it worked.Anyway im fixing it ,you can download Vip on the other mirror in the mean time.Sorry for the incovenience.
And btw. ,i got the 1858 bug to.
i applied all patches and all propposed fixes but no deal.Even after complete reinstall.In my game though British India got annexed by England ,and that set of a whole chain of events.

Any major chain event should have some warning-help. I love the 3 hurray for German that give you a message tell you to capture Paris. But at the early leadership war I miss one because I don't know what it give, and when I choose to make war with Austria the next time I hardly accept peace with Austria for some provinces, before I check the event file! Some message would be helpful!

When I played England and canceled alliance with BritIndia i got a massive badboy level from annexing the country. must be fixed

I think the alliance events are still firing when AUS releases LOM and VEN as satellites instead of only when they break away.

Well that's weird, I just had that event in my UK game and it worked fine. The offical VIP patch much fix something in this my unoffical one doesn't. Thankfully, the real patch will be out soon.
