VIP 0.3 railroad first impression.

I'd love to try vip 0.3, but yeah, the railroads needing MPs is not an idea I'd agree with. If anyone knows how to mod that part out, please post so I can try it

Although I was surprised 5k RR made it in, we had switched to testing 3k.

If you want all 3 just extract to your victoria folder, if not just overwrite whatever you want. Note this is my take and not an 'official' VIP patch.

You can only define the base cost, then it gets 150% more expensive each time. See my patch(one post up...) for cheaper RR

Did you extract it to your vic folder out just save it to there? It contains a scenarios and DB folder to overwrite your old ones (although these folders only contain a few fixes, so don't delete your old ones, just overwrite).

I'm taking an economic history course right now, and ALL the data suggests that railroads weren't THAT huge of a benefit to the USA --- they opened up some new territory, created some markets, and proved a modest backwards and fowards stimulation to the economy, but the costs barely made it worthwhile --- I believe that most counterfactual studies suggest that they added about 1.5-4.5% of GDP. Well, RR in the game is really a mixture of economic and actual transportation infrastruture, not just railways
