SUCCESS!

That last war was followed by another eight years of Peace and Prosperity. Angara became a city in Feb 1764, while trade posts were founded at Ob and Demianka that year. Posen continues to be a problem, revolting that Aug. The following year we founded more posts, at Irtych and Tchary. In Jun we renewed our vows with Sweden, which remained at war with France until finally paying indemnities on 14 May '66. In '65 we founded colonies at Omsk and Ichim.

Yukon (1500 natives) and Ichim (4k) both became cities in 1767. In Jan that year we renewed our dynastic ties with Russia. In '68 we tightened our control of IndoChina, founding trade posts at Bangkok and Hanoi. Tabuk grew into a city that Jul, and we upgraded Mindoro that same month. In Sep we arranged a royal marriage with Poland. We did the same with France in Oct of the following year, and a few months earlier Quattara became a city. Cataract grew into a city in 1770, and more marriages were arranged that year: a new one with Baden in Jul, and a renewal with Portugal in Dec.

22 Apr 1771 will be a day forever cherished in the hearts of all our citizens. Sweden *finally* agreed to become our vassal:D :D :D . I can't tell you how many times we offered but were refused. In response, we sent an army from Trondelag to restore order in Finmark, which has been rebel controlled for ten years or more. And on 18 Nov of that year, our other (guilty:rolleyes: ) wish came true, as Spain violated the Open Door policy. We decide to bide our time and deliver a decisive blow, but we start the wheels in motion.

In Dec Anticosti became a city, while Sitka grew into one. And pity the poor Mameluks: Turkey, supported by France, Genoa, Morocco, and Catalunya, declared war on them on 4 Feb '72, while Algiers backed by Cyrenaica did the same on the 18th. And, on 20 Mar, all the pieces are now in place and we are ready to teach Spain a lesson.

I remember that we both started our first AARs months ago. I stopped mine but you have gone on and you will be the first AAR (that I remember) that has gone the whole way. Only 30 more years. That's something to be admired;)

As of this moment, 20 years 5 months 29 days. In 8 years 9 months 22 days I can start asking to dip annex Sweden. For the last 8-1/2 months they'll have a monarch with a dip of 2 compared to my Excellent Minister with a 9. The trickiest goal? Making sure none of my allies embroils me in a war at the very end:eek: ; Peace and Prosperity must rule the day!:D

-Pat

btw, this is probably the most complete BB war I've had yet.

A True World War

When last we left our hero, an ultimatum was about to be delivered to the Spaniards in Zacatecas. It was, of course, rejected on 20 Mar. Austria, Tuscany, the Knights, and the Inca joined Spain, while China, Portugal, Russia, and our new vassal :D Sweden joined our cause. Without missing a beat, Tuscany quit on the 21st, Austria following suit on the 22nd. Spain tried offering a truce on the 24th, but we weren't having it. (the first half of this war reads almost like a day book)

On the 28th, Moldavia as well as Genoa with France declared war. All our allies in the first, while Russia sat out the latter; we immediately invited them back in. An undefended Chihuahua fell to our cav on 2 Apr. Lorraine declared on the 5th, while on the 8th the Knights sent two envoys to offer a truce. Venice declared on the 15th, Grenada TND. Undefended Pastaza and Mazatlan fell on the 17th and 19th respectively. Baden declared on th 26th, Persia TND, Savoy with the Papacy on the 29th, and Sibir TND.

The Spanish rebels in Sacramento capitulated on 2 May. TND we accepted a truce from the Papacy while declining Spain's offer of Canuma. Wichita fell TND, and TND we accepted Moldavia's, but not Genoa's, offer of a white peace. Cyrenaica declared on the 18th, and on the 21st a Spanish army of 0/0/0 retreated into Sahara. We accepted truces from Venice and Grenada on the 22nd and 23rd respectively.

More offers came in early Jun: we accepted those from Baden and Savoy on the 1st, as well as Lorraine's on the 4th. On that latter date we rejected Persia's truce and Spain's offer of Chihuahua. Kars fell on the 7th and Kustanai on the 10th. TND we turned down Sibir's truce. TND Matagorda fell, Hamad on the 19th. Arkansas fell to a patient seige on the 21st, Flanders to assault TND. TND we accepted Cyrenaica's white peace.

Nehalem fell on the 27th, Isfahan on 2 Jul. TND we rejected France's proffered truce while Russia wasted a diplomat to arrange a white peace with Spain. The last repeated their rejectable offer on th 5th, but TND a humbled Madrid accepted our demand for Sacremento and Arkansas, while Pesia ceded Hamad and Kars.

On the 12th we turned away envoys from both Sibir and Genoa carrying truce offers. Tenghiz fell on the 19th, while Rio Grande followed suit on the 26th. We also founded a trade post at Mirim this month. Then began the second half of this BB war, where the declarations came one at a time. Poland declared on the 29th, and this time we called upon our allies, as we're willing to see Russia grow at someone else's expense.

In Aug Mindoro became a city while another trade post, at Canuma, further expanded the Dominion of Amazonia. A French assault on Bearn faded to nothing on the 15th, and TND we again rejected Genoa's offer. We also rejected France's offer of Kitimat on teh 23rd; we want two provinces, whether cities in northern Mexico or trade posts along the Salmon Coast.

Orsk fell on 1 Sep, and TND Sibir tried avoiding their fate by offering Kustanai and Tenghiz. On the 8th Portugal offered Genoa a white peace, while we again ignored the latter's offer on the 17th. Podlasia fell on the 21st, and on 1 Oct we captured Coahuilha while Welikia fell to Russia. On the 3rd we rejected Poland's offer of Podlasia; we don't want any provinces for ourselves, but hope to gain two for Russia. On the 5th we turned down Sibir's offer of Kustanai, but accepted France's of Kitimat and Nanaimo. Now that we had what we wanted from France, we could accept Genoa's truce on the 18th. We completed our control of the Salmon Coast with the founding of a colony at Olympia.

Warsaw fell on Oct 27, Irgiz on 6 Nov. Also in Nov we founded a trade post at El Paso. Morocco declared war on 12 Dec, and all our allies joined in. That same day, with only their capital left to them, Sibir upped their offer to Irgiz, Kustanai, and Tenghiz. They would repeat this offer on 23 Jan 1773 with their capital under assault, while Morocco tried that same day to back out of their war. When Kurgan fell on the 29th, though, we annexed the entire country.

In Feb we founded a colony at Karaganda. On 23 Mar we demand indemnities of Poland, and that they cede Welikia and Polotsk to Russia; it's an offer they can live with. And the Russians are so impressed with our peace making, they nearly view us a gods on Earth. TND Morocco repeated their request for a truce, and TND Catalunya was joined by France in declaring war on us.

In Apr we expanded Amazonia with another trade post, this time at Taqari. Toubkal fell on the 23rd, and TND Russia :)confused: what is it with their diplomats:confused: ) offered Morocco a white peace. Then, on 1 May, Astrakhan is joined by the Golden Horde in declaring war. The Mameluks commit suicide on 21 Jun, declaring war on us (they're down to 2 cities in Egypt and a TP in southern Africa right next to England's possessions).

Fez fell on 24 Jun, and Morocco ceased to exist. On the 30th, after losing one army and having another two break, Astrakhan offered an acceptable truce. We offered our own to Catalunya that same day, and they accepted. The Mameluk TP at Camara fell on 21 Aug to our cav which had waited in Table for nearly a decade for this opportunity. Cairo fell on 7 Sep, and when Delta fell on 2 Oct it was all over.

"And there was much rejoicing"

-Pat

15 declarations against me, 23 opponents (not counting France twice), and I used 7 diplomats (1 to start it all, 1 to bring Russia back in, and 5 for peace offers)

Oh well, just barely 5 years of peace this time:( . Some colonial expansion, just two revolts, and lots of arranged marriages. In Oct '73 a trade post was founded at Empalme, while Sacramento and city revolted the next month. Karaganda became a city in Sep '74, Manicouagan in Jul '75, and Kutch in Mar '76. Meanwhile, dynastic ties were forged with Spain on 18 Apr '74, Burgundy on 3 Aug '75, Lorraine that 1 Dec, and Baden on 21 Sep '76. Posen revolted in Nov '76. We founded a colony at Alga in Jul '76, building it up to a city in Dec '77. We sealed off Siberia by founding a colony at Emba in Mar '78 and a trade post at Ust Urt that Jul. Also, our colony at Niagara grew into a city in Oct '78.

I had wanted to remain at peace for the final 19 years of the game, since my only remaining goal is the peaceful annexation of Sweden. I learned from Brandenburg/Hannover that requesting annexation too soon after upping one's BB rating can cause not only a refusal but a cancellation of their vassal status as well. And it's too close to the end of the game to risk that with Sweden. So any wars I get into cannot involve annexing *any* provinces. On the other hand, Spain again violated our Open Door policy, imposing an embargo on 11 Sep 1778:mad: , and this is intollerable. So a white peace is insufficient. So even though I really don't need the cash, that's what I'll have to go for. I spent the next 3 weeks arranging my fleets (I leave troops in place from one war to the next), and now on 6 Oct I'm ready to deliver yet another ultimatium to Spain. They just never learn...:rolleyes:

Well, that had to be the shortest BB war on record:D , and I didn't use any of my own diplomats for the peace deals:cool: . As I said, I declared war against Spain on 6 Oct 1778; they were joined by Venice and Tuscany but not the Inca, we were supported by all four of our allies. I had two diplomats to start this with, and the DoW cost me both of them (1 for declaring war, 1 for breaking the marriage). We should have lost 1 level of stability, but the game took away 2 levels. On the 14th, Poland was joined by Sicily in declaring against us; Russia's troops are all around the White Sea:confused: so we don't bother calling allies.

On the 19th we accepted Venice's truce but had to decline Spain's. Their allies' abandonment was complete when we accepted a truce with Tuscany on the 21st. A still unfortified Chihuahua fell on the 24th. On the 28th both Genoa (with France and Catalunya) and Turkey declared against us; our allies join against the latter.

We recruited a diplomat on 1 Nov, the same day as Savoy with the Papacy declares war. TND an undefended Mazatlan fell. On the 5th, one day before we can use that diplomat to make a cash withdrawal from the Bank of Spain, Burgundy broke their dynastic tie with England and declared war:mad: .They were joined by Baden on the 8th.

Nehalem fell to assault on the 13th. On the 16th Persia declared war, as we accepted a truce with the Papacy. Astrakhan was joined by the Golden Horde in declaring war on the 25th. I was torn when Spain offered on the 28th to cede Chihuahua; end the war successfully and quickly but raise my BB rating, or wait until Jan to get another diplomat? D'oh! Forgot to burn the trade posts in Venezuela before accepting!

Grenada became the last to declare war, on the 29th. Warsaw fell to assault TND, and Poland cried uncle on the 1st. The revolts started that Dec, as the peasants and city in the Nile Delta rose up. When Judea and Sinai fell, on the 7th and 8th respectively, almost all our enemies lost their will to fight. Genoa, Savoy, and Turkey all offered truces on the 8th, Baden and Burgundy on the 14th, and Persia on the 20th.

Life would be so much easier without allies: on Christmas Eve Portugal declared war on Grenada, and although Sweden and Russia supported this, China backed out of the alliance. For a week, any alliance leader with a diplomat and friendly relations with China could have stolen them away from us.

The new year brought new revolts. Munster on the Rhine and Syria both had peasant uprisings, and there were false rumors of the same in Oshawa. After losing one army attacking us, Astrakhan offered a truce on 2 Jan. Granada lost their navy trying to escape our blockade of Cadiz, and their army to our inflicting a lesson on them. With their capital rapidly giving way before our assault, they offered a truce on the 3rd. We accepted, and left them to their fate against the rest of the Alliance. It was all over in less than 3 months.

It would be the start of Apr before all the revolts were subdued, and because the game cheated me, my stability won't be back to +3 until Aug, so there could still be others. Granada has no army or navy, one province, and an ever increasing force of Portugese and Swedes seiging their capital. And we founded a colony at Transkei in Apr. Another two years and I can start asking to annex Sweden:D .

Sacrilage! I think I've only 'lost' one war, and that was intentional to give up Calais to deny France the CB (and then had to take Bearn so I could completely conquer the Palatinate; d'oh!) I'll gladly agree to white peaces, but to lose a war is simply unacceptable.

The important thing, though, is not the BB rating itself, but that it not go up shortly before broching the topic of annexation.

There Can Only Be One

In May and Sep 1779 respectively, we founded a colony at Bouzatchi and a trade post at Massawa. On 4 Nov Cadiz fell to assault, and it turns out the troops were led by the Swedes. TND Grenada paid indemnities of 250 gold to Sweden, and Portugal had to start their seige all over again. Our own diplomat arranged a royal marriage with Catalunya that same day.

In Jan 1780 a native uprising at Ust Urt destroyed our settlement there:eek: , though Bouzatchi became a city that Jul. We arranged a royal wedding on 25 Oct, this time with Savoy. And on 14 Dec, after nearly two years of war, the city of Cadiz fell once more and Granada again ceased to exist. In Feb '81 we (re)found a trade post at Ust Urt, upgrading it to a colony in May.

And Then:

On 1 Jul, when the troops we had forgotten about sending towards France's Guinea trade posts finally made it back out of Swedish territory;
when Sweden's entire army (13821) are located in Cuyuni and Swedish home provinces are empty of troops;
when we have 17196 men in Trondelag, 28007 in Ostlandet, and 16334 in Ingermanland;
when our relations are at +198; and
when we trade maps (0 new provinces from them, 3 new ones from us);
we offer to incorporate them as full and equal parts of our glorious Commonwealth, and they say "No thanks":( .

This drops our relations by 50 points, so we send a State Gift (taking no chances of the result being too small:rolleyes: ) and raise it back to +200. It'll just have to wait another month. Later that month Irkutsk became a city. In other news, Austria is being ripped apart by revolts (they've been in a continuous series of wars, having by far (both ways) the second highest BB rating in the game) and this is causing some of my border provinces to have revolt risks of 1%.

On 24 Jul, Russia declared war on Kazan (why they almost always settle for cash instead of total conquest, I'll never know; Kazan was first to go in my next AAR), and while China and Portugal accepted the request to support, Sweden declined and left the Alliance. I hit "pause", looked over who could possibly declare war on me and who they were aligned with, and shut down the game to think it over. When I went back, there was no way to answer yes or no; I was still in the alliance but not in the war.

On the first of Aug, I learned that you do not need to be in the same alliance as your vassal to offer annexation, and so I offered.

And they said YES!!!!!:D :D :D

I guess by not being in the alliance, it helped prompt them to accept the offer, as they would be gaining security. As many Swedish national provinces did not yet have Mayors promoted, I promoted all the remaining colonial ones so as not to forget where they were. Also, I split each army on the (former:cool: ) border and sent them in so that any revolt would be within one province of our troops.

And revolts there have been and no doubt will continue to be. Vasterbotten was first, that Oct. In Feb '81 Nyland followed suit, while in May there were false rumors of a revolt in Far Karelia. Oh, and on New Year's Day '81 we renewed our dynastic ties with Austria.

-Pat

This Is, the End, My Friend...

Here it is, the much anticipated final chapter of this long saga. I wanted to end as I began, with a long period of being at peace with the rest of the world, so I did what I had to. That makes this mostly a tale of trading posts and rebellions.

Speaking of which, there were rebellions in Smaland in nov '82, Skane Jan '83, Svealand in Feb, Finland in Jul, along with a false report of a revolt in Far Karelia, more false reports in Aug, this time from both Finmark and Lappland. [Pause for breath] Nyland revolted in Mar '84, Syria in Jun (revolts in neighboring Turkish provinces), and Finland with its city garrison in Dec. At this point I went to use the once-Swedish fleet sitting in Skane this whole time to blockade Helsinki, and discovered it consisted of 235 warships! The city has Massive fortifications, and it would take until 4 Jul '85 to retake it.

In other news during these years, we built up a city at Ust Urt (2k natives, aggression 9:cool: ) and at Olympia in '83. Royal marriages were forged with Tuscany (11 Aug '83) and Sicily (1 Jul '85). In the most meaningless event under the circumstances, a Company of Trade was established on 5 Jul '85, giving me 200 gold (I collect about 10 times that each month), an additional merchant per year (I'd be getting about 3-1/2 per month if there wasn't a limit of 1 per), and 500 gold invested in Trade tech (maxed out long ago). Later that month we built Transkei into a city (1500 natives). In 1785 Emba, Duluth, and Wisonsin all became cities.

[take a deep breath] Osterbotten revolts in Mar '85, Svealand and Gastrikland in Apr, and Nyland in May. Skane revolts in Nov and again in Jan, while in Dec Vestergotland rises in arms. Osterbotten revolts again in Apr '86, while both Finland and Gastrikland revolt with their cities in Jun and Sep respectively. Smaland revolts in Dec, and Tavastland in Feb '87. Chihuahua and Posen rose up in Mar, Tavastland in Sep, and Finland (thank goodness the peasants only!) in Nov.

Catching up on other news, we formed dynastic ties with Burgundy on 4 Jul '85, and with Moldavia on 19 may '86. We founded a colony at Barabinsk and a trade post at Zina, both in '86. On 8 Feb '87 Russia once again declared war on Kazan, and Portugal and China joined in. We really didn't want to get into a BB war with all these revolts in Sweden, so England declined to join what we knew to be a pointless war (Russia settled for another truce on 28 Apr). This made Portugal alliance leader, and we immediately asked to rejoin (and they said yes).

Later that year we founded a colony at Tchita, and trade posts at Mudugh and Ogaden, while Selenga became a city. We also forged royal ties with Spain (5 Jul) and Genoa (4 Oct). This gave us ties with every Christian country not a vassal other than the Papacy (they don't deserve it) and the Knights of St John. A trade post was founded at Salton in '88, and at the end of that year Shawinigan became a city. Market Fluctuations saw a new CoT (our 17th:D ) open at Kurgan, covering almost all Central Asia.

After almost a year and a half of quiet, Nyland revolted in Apr '89. Posen (Austria was being torn apart by war-weary rebels throughout these years) rebelled in Aug. Bergslagen revolts in Jun'90, Jamtland with city in Nov, and Osterbotten in Dec. Gastrikland rises up in Apr '91, followed by Smaland in Jun. We send an army there from Vastergotland, and just days after they leave that province, *it* rebels:eek: ! Finland revolts in Sep, and in Feb '92 there was a false alarm about Narvik. Gastrikland rose up in Sep, and last of all was Skane in Dec. All was quiet by the end of the year.

In 1789 we founded trade posts at Touva, Bratsk, and Balakhta. Inflation went up in Jan '90, for the first time in about a decade. That year saw new trade posts at Krasnoyarak, Chilka, Boureia, Nagorje, and Khretset. In '91 we expanded into Ekimcan, Tomsk, Norsk, Mogotcha, Aralsk, Altai, Movesibirsk, Semipalatinsk, and Sorong. Russia initially rejected our offer to renew dynastic ties in Jan '92, but after gifts changed hands they finally agreed on 2 Apr. In that final year we upgraded Nagorje to a colony and founded new trade posts at Kalepam, Chatga, and Turgai.

Our final VP total was 10 232.

...and they lived peacefully and prosperously ever after. The End

-Pat
