Languish, I think the problem was that you didn't announce it's release in the general discussion forum. ;) It is still not too late to do this. I predict it will recieve many replies if announced there. Remember, as we discussed there are few who read this thread... so it is not the best place to post announcements.

It may also have been a good idea to release on Christmas. ;) Which reminds me - Merry Christmas! :)

I would like you to go ahead and announce it. I would like to see you do that instead of me. I grow tired of no replies and the cold, cold silence of the forums.

I personally dont believe it will make any difference. again.

It's good to see you again by the way :) how's the house??? Merry christmas my friend!

The house is fine. Still have a few things to get back in order though. :)

I agree with you that the foruims have been silent lately. It is most likely because of the holidays, but it is also probably due to some extent because of the release of many new games such as HOI that are taking interest away from EU2. I must confess that I too have been playing other games besides EU2, and as a result have been very little interested in scenario editing EU2 anymore. It also seems that there has been a limit on how much we can improve on this scenario. Paradox did not design EU2 to be as scenario editing friendly as it could have been, and many things are uneditable. Sure we can add more nations, events, etc. but we cannot make it feel like an entirely different game.

So my proposal is that we rename beta 6 to version 1.0 (as it is unlikely any of us will find the willpower to bring out another release). This would be best, as we can then draw a close to this project and at least say we got it past beta stage (where most scenarios never evolve beyond). So if you would fix up whatever may be wrong with the installer and rename it to version 1.0 I will gladly announce it in the general discussions forum. I also think it would be a great thing if we can have this all done tommorrow. After all, since it is Christmas it is the perfect time for the release. :)

Hopefully EU3 will one day be released, and we can all work on adapting vinland to it's greatly improved game engine...

The installer merely needs to be renamed. The quotation problem will not go for some time, but it is literally such a minor problem. I will change the product name and upload it in 10 minutes. Then you can announce it later, tommorow or whenever suits you.

I personally have the willpower to see this through, however doing it alone, will render even that trait a useless one. Havard and you do contribute, but only as often as your other commitments unfortunately dictate. I wouldnt have such a problem with that if more than yourselves were willing to assist.

I honestly hope you are right about your recommendations, i truly do.

Well, 1.0 doesn't necessarily mean the end as there could still be 1.1 and 1.2 and so on. It would just be nice to know that we have gotten past beta... just so we can say that we have.

The word beta hasnt affected downloads of EEP or AGC ;) or any other major scenario. Given the ambitious scope and breadth of the vinland scenario i dont see how it differs from the above.

Either way you have the release requested. I definitely look forward to the responses (or lack thereof) to your post. I hope i am made to look stupid. Honest.

Nonsense, your contributions can be included in version 1.1 or later. ;)

You release something on Christmas day and expect responses within a day!

While I must admire your optimism, it does cause me to question your sanity :p

From the announcement post, it seems that a number of the people who download aren't aware of the problem with moddirs, and thus don't understand why it doesn't work when they have installed to something like c:\program files\strategy first\europa unliversalis 2 &etc. Perhaps a comment in the installer together with the information about removing the quotation marks as to the effect that only paths with no spaces in will work? Otherwise, I predict that most of your immediate feedback will be on this issue.

Anyways, great work on the scenario and the installer. A very nice and easy to install package when you know about moddirs. Now, as soon as I have set it to use the SSREM rather than the standard Paradox random events, I'll raise the war cry and follow the Raven banner to victory!

(I was just reminded why I dislike the stock random events. Got a Corrution: -100d or +10 inflation in 1420.... Yeah, right. :D)

Seems like a good idea for version 1.1 would be to implement some improvements such as the SSREM. Of course, what is tough to decide is whether or not it is necessary to hunt down each and every person and get their permission (a likely impossible task, as many contributors may not visit the boards anymore). Credit of course should always be given.

There was some discussion on including the VFS in the AGC as a fantasy option, but perhaps it would be easier to do vice versa and include some elements and improvments from the AGC in the VFS instead...

Peter your comments regarding sanity are indeed correct :)

Simply put feedback and continued support is all we have ever desired. I'd lie if i said we dont get it... but its just where to put the scenario and how to effectively "market" it.

... and Captain, oddly enough in the latest release i have started to do this. The AI has been replaced by the last (independant) MKJ AI to assist in AI affairs.

I had not considered SSREM. Would there be any objections peter?

Well, if it was part of the AGC it might reach a larger public and be nicer to play as somebody else than Vinland. I don't know how good the Vinland AI is, of course, but it could be funny to play as a European and come visiting Vinland - or come visiting Europe while playing Vinland, while still having the considerable advantages to basic gameplay provided by the AGC.

On the other hand, seing the number of differences in the Vinland setup - most notably religious and cultural - I can see that it might be a chore to implement. The event, monarch, and leader renumbering, on the other hand, would be trivial - a few hours of work at most.

But it would be truly great if it was done. One of the reasons I really liked the Vinland for EU1 was that as part of the IGC, I could play with it while also tinkering with other options. :)

None whatsoever. Feel free to copy, include, delete, hack, slash, and do anything else you like with it, so long as you mark changes to events in the file with the name of the person changing it and a brief description of the change.

I expect to have 0.9.5 finished during the Christmas vacation.

Languish, did my recommendations (now applied) generate a satisfactory level of interest in this project?
