Might I suggest using the nullsoft "super pimp" install system? :)

http://www.nullsoft.com/free/nsis/

It is 100% free, and has no time limitations.

I had a look at this, and to be honest, I didn’t really think it cut the mustard. I also took a look at "setup2go" but again, didn’t think it really made the grade. More impoprtantly as I already started I don’t have any issue with running the installer, and in theory I shouldn’t ever have to license it. Its not a commercial package we are providing here.

Installer

Not sure what you guys are chatting about, or whether its because its installed on my machine, but I havent had a problem with installing it. Certainly no date related issues.

Maybe it works for you because you have the installer software installed on your machine. I am thinking that it places a limit when you send the files to other people...

Have you tried installing it after the trial ran out? ;)

Re: The settlement of Wisconsin

First off, since this looks like it might be a major event, it might be a good idea to change the name of the city here for the Vinland scenario to something a little more fitting - something analogous to "Iron-land", perhaps.

<snip>

What I envision is that it provides the following benefits:

One tech level upgrade
A CoT in Wisconsin
A fortress in Wisconsin
A small garrison in Wisconsin

Potentially it could also offer:
a stability bonus
a small treasury bonus
a few merchants

I don't want this event to be seen as giving away the farm, however, especially since the timing is so potentially random. Comments on this are greatly appreciated, since I want to flesh it out before I even begin coding it.

I like the 1450 event. Make sure the life span of the consquidor is shortish - 5 years? So that means not a event one that lasts for 12? but a wakeleader dude. Anyway testing well tell you how long it should be. (In 12 years you can discover most of America!)

Now for this event:

I suggest that it doesn;t create a COT. There is enough in America already (unless some have been removed since I last visited). Plus I wouldn't trade my iron to the natives its too precious. Also other Euro countries end up creating 2-3 COTS of their own in American and the Caribean.

Instead of a tech level it could be a perquisite of one of the existing change tech group events. This makes them a bit harder.

If you like that then it gives a large boost say +1000 to land and naval OR it creates a Weapon Manfactory in "Iron-Land"

I like the WM.

Too balance the event a little, releations with Dakota / Shawnee should drop, maybe even get a CB with all the construction?? Not so sure about this.

Anyway nice ideas.
