Latest changes, fixes, and add ons

After more discussions and advice Vinland will now start the scenario as Civilized by quite backwards, slighty behind the other backwards civilized nations such as those in South America.

The event that civilized Vinland through assistance now has been reduced and modified to choosing whom to take technical assistance from (for a price of course), the choices will be based on one's national religion (an event to choose that option happens beforehand). This technical assistance event will affect diplomactic relations as well as the primary areas people immigrat from later on.

The Ericsson events now simply give research points, invest enough money in Ericsson and one will get Ironclad technology and an Ironclad.

Vinland will have slaves in the beginning, it also has a fair size military Population (soilders make up 8.6% of the Pops in the beginning, not including Officers).

Vinland starts as a Monarchy with Landed voting only, no unions, censored press, and no public meetings, no other reforms.

Vinland starts with two factories: Canned Food and Lumber
Vinland starts with one division and two transports (made need to upgrade this)

Event Catagories:

Immigration:

-- Irish Immigration events -- immigration because of Potato blight. (your religion affects this, but all get it to some degree).
-- Swedish Immigration events -- happens in last 1860's and again in 1880's
-- Random immigration events -- Who comes depends on earlier decisions (mainly relgious and tech assistance events).

Flavor:

-- Investing in Libraries
-- 900th anniversity
-- Investing in Iron Mines
-- Pope visits (have to be Catholic for this)
-- Vinterblots (have to be Pagan for this)

Political events:

-- Constitutional debates -- Caused by 1848, no you won't change government, just have things happen based on what you promise. Changing the government will have to be done through user effort in reforms.
-- Vinland hires ericsson -- Invest in Ericsson and get flavor reserach points events, invest in him some more and get Ironclad tech and Ironclad later.

Vinland joins the 19th Century:

-- Major event deciding who to take technical assitance from, options influenced by what the state faith is.

Religious events:

-- Major event allowing one to decide the faith of Vinland (at least the state faith). Will convert some Pops
-- Various relgious minority reaction events - Depends on what faith is chosen.

Economic Events:

-- Panic of 1873
-- Recovery
-- Timber investing

Social Events:

-- Socialists speak event
-- Workers strike or riot event

Slavery and its end:

-- Progressive Vinland frees the slaves (earliest chance to free them, some reforms need to be in place as well as a more progressive government).
-- Christian Vinland frees the slaves
-- Pagan Vinland frees the slaves
-- Last chance to free the slaves (if slavery is kept from the above events).
-- Deal with the landowners

The Slesvig Question & The German-Danish Crisis:

-- Events dealing with how much if any support Vinland will give Denmark

The American Civil War:

-- Events giving options on how Vinland will react to the Civil War to its south.

Piracy:

-- Events dealing with support of piracy and ending it (must be Pagan to get)

I am sure there are, but I'd have to look. Also may look at history of those years to see anything that is plausible.

Or if nothing event make another crisis happen ;)

I think it seems sensible, and if there is no germany, Vinland must have the hep from Prussia, who in turn will bring Austria into the fray, and the Ottomans will see another chance of... ;)

When I stated events for the 20th century I was just thinking flavor events myself dealing with occurences at that time, but hey if a great war is what people wan to see... :p

I suppose then I can put it in and let anyone who wants to give this scenario a spin can say weither or not it is a good idea to ave these Great War events in.

Sorry if I am a little behind..

At present I seem to be in a work cycle that consists of a series of weekly overtime, and I just stayed away from the computer this past weekend (well, okay, mostly stayed away).

Anyway, I am just finishing up stuff and will attempt to get together a downloaded copy with instructions of this scenario in a day or two. Then everyone will finally have an opportunity to really tell me what needs improving :rofl:

Also wrote an AI file for Vinland, such as it is, as I have never attempted to write an AI file before. When I put out the scenario hopefully someone will look at the AI file and suggest improvements. Also modified some of the nearby nations' AI files a little. Also added AI percentages for some events.

Also fixed some events.

Also anyone who helped or wrote events for this let me know which ones you did again so I can give credit in my event files.

Well after I am finally done with this, I'd like to do a "Vinland 2.0" scenario with a Grand Vinland whose existance changed the entire history and makeup of North America (perhaps you seen the maps and ideas). I'd like to see what grand concepts for events you come up for that scenario (if you ever feel so inclined) :)
