Based on research it seems that Vikings did arrive at North America

So we need the DLC. Create the USA in 1200 !!

There's also theories* about Carthaginians making it to South America. But all the Norse found was the northeastern tip of Canada, the First Peoples inhabitants of which probably wouldn't have even qualified as a Tribal government at the time, and there's little evidence for a permanent colony (more likely they had small settlements to harvest lumber).

* Half-remembered PBS show; don't recall if they had any evidence other than South American natives with blond hair.

Just for the record I agree that we do not need more map expansions But its the first of April so...

But about South America, was it also not that Egyptians did go there as well. (As some suggested)

The Vinland colony was short lived, parly because settlers being chased out by the natives, and partly because the settlers killed each other (just read the Vinland saga, it's full of vikings settling Vinland, then killing each other).

I think it'd be cool to see the event chain for the founding of Vinland to be expanded because of this. Maybe if the player manages to become Fylkir or the Emperor of Scandinavia beforehand they get the option to support the colony for money/prestige which means it shows up as a minor nation if you convert to EU4? It'd be a neat little easter egg.

Thinking further, this would be a map expansion for which there are (almost?) no records of rulers. I seriously doubt that the Inuit oral tradition goes back that far with any accuracy, and they didn't really have a settled society in any case: they were hunter-gatherers into the 20th century.

Besides, Norse have more than enough content already. Let's see some other cultures get love.

Well the Phoenicians circumnavigated africa, and the Carthaginians were originally Phoenician colonists, so It's not impossible. Plus we also know that basque fisherman were sailing to north america for fishing long before columbus.

Immortuos ad Ortum was actually added few months ago. Maybe even before Horse Lords.
Can't say what purpose it serves...

I doubt it. We already had unused apps that still stand in the DB, like Songs of Arabia.
And if I'm not mistaken, Immortuos ad Ortum was a joke name for Horse Lords Content Pack. I could be wrong though...

that doesnt seem right, horselords is there and theres two separate ortum items, ones a content pack
