Anuradhapura has a state culture of Lankan, but its default ruling dynasty are scripted as Tamil. I am not a historian, but it seems like the house of Vijaya should be the same culture as the state they founded. I get the impression that this might be a tricky thing to accurately research, when most of what is known comes from sources like the Mahavamsa that aren't purely factual and there's been... tension between the Sinhalese (which I presume are the Lankans) and the Tamils of Sri Lanka. But if this dynasty founded the kingdom and it has been a couple centuries since that founding, then their culture should really match the one associated with their kingdom.

Now, fixing this is not so easy as changing the starting ruler and the family in the setup files. The name list for the Dravidians includes names of rulers of Anuradhapura (such as Mutasiva), while the Lankan culture is in the Aryan culture group. So to change this properly, the names would need to be moved from the 00_indian file to the 00_aryan file. Then the Dravidian name list might be too sparse and require research to find replacements.

Lankan means Sinhalese, but I get your point. Look at Paradoxwiki says
It stays Capital region is Dravida, Tradition is Indian, Religion is Hindu
20px Anuradhapura ANU Dravida Monarchy (Autocratic) Indian Lankan Aryan Hindu 12 145
According to the same Wikia, the starting date is 450AUC, which is 304BC according to the same Wikia site. in Sri Lanka, back then Ceylon was ruled by Sinhalese monarch at least from Prince Vijaya in 543 BC. So in 304BC the country was ruled by Devanampiya Tissa who was also a Sinhalese monarch according to Mahavamsa, but apparently this game completely discarded that fact, and stated Tamils were the predominant ethnic group at that time. This is completely false.

For my own personal mod, I have switched Anuradhapura, the Vijaya family, and its starting ruler to the Lankan culture. The quick fix for the name problem I brought up before is to move Lankan into the same culture group as Tamil.

It's good you are aware of the problem, and made a change in your personal game play, but unfortunately not many people know about this problem as Sri lanka is a small nation. So the fixing has to be done in the game level by the developers. Altering the history of a country is not a good thing, especially when a large number of people use it as a reference to learn history. I searched everywhere, but I couldn't find the existence of Sinhalese ethnic group in this game. It only says about Buddhism, but not Sinhalese ethnic group. Don't they know virtually every Buddhist has been Sinhalese since the monarch of Devanampiya Tissa ? so what happened to Sinhalese people back then? Nowadays Sinhalese represents the majority in the nation, but according to this game there is no history for Sinhalese ethnic group. It's really shocking, and misleading. This issue has to be fixed as soon as possible in the game level, otherwise the paradox loses all their credibility in their games.
