So I've decided that my first AoW game will be a Vijayanagar->Hindustan+Silk Road campaign(which basically means conquering most of Asia).

Conquering all this land seems a bit ambitious. Is the unrest/autonomy mechanic manageable in terms of conquering large swathes of territory. How do I avoid/mitigate large rebellions?

Also, since the 60 day limit for joining wars is gone, it seems the AI can ally anyone and call them in...is there a way for me to prevent this, because if not, I'm not sure how I could win wars against equally large Indian nations with lots of allies.

I'm currently playing a Bahmanis save and I have no problems with rebellions in India at all. The good part for Vijayanagar is: they already start as a Hindu nation and almost all of India follows the Hindu faith at game start. India is also heavily divided into smaller culture groups (compared to Persia for example) which reduces the chance of rebellions a lot - even at faster expansion rates you will probably manage to stay rebellion free as long as you increase autonomy manually once for every conquered province. The real struggle starts outside of India, but at that point you should be strong enough to handle rebellions of all sizes.

India also got two new gold provinces, which I found to be extremly helpful for hiring some longterm mercenary troops.

Hindustan really isn't worth it unless you're one of a handful of nations that is actually in the Hiduthani culture group or they made cultural unions beneficial for people whose primary culture isn't in the culture group of the union.

And even if it was, you'll lose your DHEs when you do it.

Oh yeah, increasing Autonomy is free, right?

But I like the flag/color of Hindustan, plus forming a new nation is always fun...are the Vijayanagari DHE's that good anyway?

Vijayanagar always provides for an awesome game. Since 1.8, it has become so much easier due to income and MP in India increasing by about 2.5x. You'll dominate the world in tech, military and income if you unite all Hindustan cores.

Check out this screenshot for the score. This is a few years before forming Hindustan. Enough money for all lvl 3 advisers, an army bigger than Russia and tech parity with W Europe.

Forming Hindustan will make Hindustani culture group accepted. This would be in addition to the Dravidian group you already have as primary.

Silk road also works if your subjects hold that land, which means you don't have to conquer all that much, especially if you westernize and get the ability to protectorate most of Asia.

Oh, I guess I'll just protectorate Ming then...can you still protectorate giant countries in 1 war?

Forming Hindustan will make Hindustani culture group accepted. This would be in addition to the Dravidian group you already have as primary.

Oh, the cultural union thing actually works now?

That is good news for me, since Mings capital is producing silk and it would be rather impossible to conquer all of Ming (have taken all the other silk areas).

In any case, playing timmies-mughal seems way easier than vijayjay if you just want silk road, the ideas for Mughal are top tier, and you start out much stronger.

If it's the only one left, you could just take only the capital or go out of your way to isolate it.

Can you do that? I did not belive it was possible to take the capital, when you can't annex them?

If I take all provinces around the capital, will it then move the capital?

Thank you, will try that!

I guess this work in all cases? So I could also take Moskva?

edit: Do you need to control every province before you get the option to take the capital? I can't even try to take it now, even thou I control it.

Hey, as an Indian person, do you think it's correct to put Dravidians into the same culture union with Indo-Aryans? Should there maybe be a separate formable state for South India?

I'd like confirmation this is true because Hindustan didn't function as a union in previous patches (even though it should have).

+1, would love it if someone could confirm this.

E: I did some console shenanigans and it does seem like if you are a union tag you now always get those cultures as accepted, even if your primary culture is not of that group. This is mostly only relevant for Hindustan, though non-German-formed HRE can also benefit from this perhaps and maybe others if you do something sneaky?

In the end, I did manage to get this achievement by making Ming into a protectorate (in one war) but I was never able to (only) get their capital.
