Hmm, tell me, did you use genoicid much? Well, it goes down during a siege, for penalites to population growth bring it below 0, but it's very innefective way to kill people, the best is to take a city, because it experiences one time loss, of about 1000+ people (highest i seen was about 30'000). And that loss would bring population only to 5000, which was enough to convert population in EU I (during next rebellion, siege a while, and negative growth will bring it below 5000)

As others have pointed out, even as late as 1800s the Indian's were not that far behind technologically. The steel was of lower quality because of worse manufacturing techniques, but there was not a lack of steel. Also there was technology transfer, as in the case of Mysore, where the French helped reorganize the army. HTis is really where the Indians were behind, in terms of tactics. For example there is a very interesting account by a Portugese trader (forgot his name), describing a battle in the civil war between Prince Dara and Aurenzeb (1657ish ?), and basically all they did wass charge each other, with soldiers in the back doing little more than shouting.
Same goes for fleets, at its peak, Mysore (which was the only Indian state to build a fleet) had a fleet of 30 warships, which were quite capable of interfering with English shipping.

Also in the economic field, as someone said, Bengal cloth at this time was considered superiour to any European cloth of that time.

Well put. As for tactics Haidar Ali and Tipu Sultan had displayed much tactical awareness, although this was in part due to the help from the French.

My point is that in many fields, indian nations were equal to and even superior to the west and even in those fields in which they lagged behind, they were able to adapt and advance.

However, in such circumstances, they'd be more likely to call themselves the "kingdom of Al Andalus" or perhaps the "Caliphate of Cordoba".

What new provinces are there in SOuth and SE Asia? Are the original ones made smaller?
